JonnyBoy Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 the bad thing is that even if you don't train you can be in shape by controlling what you eat, seems the guy is having a tough time so is turning to comfort (food)
Grey Fox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 This article On Johnson from the Guardian was probably put up at the time (June 2012) but here it is again. Excellent read. One thing regarding us jumps out too: "[Man] City's coaching staff concluded Johnson simply did not have the mentality to be a footballer at the highest level. He was moved to Leicester City last year, on a season-long loan that cost the Championship club £1m." http://www.guardian....michael-johnson £1m!! Good old Sven!
HitchinFox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 £1m!! Good old Sven! I know. To think that Wood cost us £1.5m and we can keep him...
Fox92 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I know! Some of the loan fee's we paid out still haunt me. £1million, oh my.
foxile5 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 This has made me feel pretty sad for the bloke. What a shame.
5waller5 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Very sad. The guy is clearly depressed. I still think Sven took a decent gamble at the time - he clearly didn't look like that when he came here and was on the verge of fitness ..... Sven's gamble was if I can get his head in the right place I have an amazing footballer for a tenth of the price he's worth. He was a gamble that didn't pay off. Terrible to see someone with such clear mental illness. Reminds me of the fall from grace of Stan Collymore, another super talent wasted.
Walker Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 It's all a bit Levi Porter this story, such a waste.
dmayne7 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 All I can say is - lol lol lol . That photo is ridiculous. Such a wasted talent which is partly down to injuries but mostly his fault
Kitchandro Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Deary me. I had visions of him becoming our new star when he came here, he was obviously a talent. But when he didn't seem fit much for the early part of the season I just thought the writing was on the wall.
Bayfox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Loving the sympathy show towards him...... Oh that must be a different site. Why does everyone on here instantly assume that because he is a highly paid footballer. That is the be all and end all. Like all the smokers, drinkers, gamblers and eaters on here could just give it up tomorrow just because they got handed a decent contract. Infact any issues may get worse. What with doing 2 hrs a day instead of 8 or 10. Dont get me wrong i have little sympathy but fcuk me. The guy is human.
ozleicester Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 He's only 24, with some (proper) support and mental assistance, (which, lets be honest, if Man City had any brains they would be giving to the guy), he still has the "potential" to make a career in the game, he had the talent and that doesn't just disappear. I hope someone gets on his side and helps him, just think about gazza to see the future

I hope someone gets on his side and helps him, just think about gazza to see the future Whilst this is possible I don't see anyone taking a chance on him. He had a great oppurtunity to kick start his career with us and didn't take it. Who else is going to be willing to give him a go? Failed at Man City who, throughout his time with them, have been expanding and developing. Failed at Leicester who, whilst with us, were in the process of mounting a Premier League push. What more does he need? Any team taking him on would need great facilities and I don't see that the teams with these facilities would be willing to take the risk. Sadly, I think this is the end of his career.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Probably a good thing he's on so much. Jacamo is fvcking dear you know. Now that made me laugh
Mack Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I dont get where the sympathy comes from. He has been given a chance in life most of us would give their right arm for and pissed it away. OK his initial talent and purple patch may have been misleading but there have been plenty like him that have gone on to have a decent wealthy career a bit lower down the Football ladder. Seems to me he'd rather drive a few cheeseburgers into his guts then get pissed. Fool.

Jace Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I do feel bad for him but if he is not prepared to be a little more responsible when paid £25000 a week then he shouldnt of come here and ripped off the club

A multi-millionare and never even played 50 games.

Some people can't handle the expectation that is put upon them, just because you're talented and have the chance of a lifetime doesn't mean you will be mentally fit to meet the demands. If he didn't have the correct structure in his life, the support of his family, friends, coaches it's easy to become lost. He's not the first and he won't be the last, yes I'm sure everyone on here would love to have the opportunity that he had, or still has, but at such a young age it's easy to make the wrong decisions. It's about time talent development was taken more seriously, providing the appropriate learning environments for young athletes to help them realise and reach their potential. What was he, 17 when he began on his road to premier league stardom, can you expect him to be able to cope with pressure, cope with his setbacks, be intelligent in not only sporting situations but social situations, remain focused, hard working and professional especially with how the game is these days? Once your stuck in that mindset it's hard o get out of it and I really hope Manchester City are trying to help him and provide him with the correct support, but the past few years has provided little evidence to suggest so.
notnow john Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Could just be bulking up for a career on the celebrity reality show circuit, starting with , The biggest loser!
foxesfan1989 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 A real lack of compassion for a fellow human being here, what a shame. He is clearly in a bad place, boozing a lot. I don't really think it's fair to ridicule him further, i'm sure he is fully aware of how much of a mess he has made of a great opportunity.

Most people who are in 'his place' now would probably be shooting up heroin in a alleyway somewhere. He's still getting 50k a week or whatever it is deposited into his bank account, I'll reserved my sympathy for elsewhere. If he was that bad he'd be in the Priory.

He's probably sat in some fancy pub with table service and gourmet burgers letching over waitresses, scratching his fat arse and chuckling to himself that by the age of 24 he has already made enough money to sustain this lifestyle indefinitely.
