I went to the open at Lytham last year for the Saturday and Sunday for 60 quid a day.

The food concessions where expensive and poor quality.

This year they have hiked the price to 75 and they are surprised attendance is 20% down.

The R&A really are out of touch for more than one reason.

 

Id just like to say ive had a fantastic day at Muirfield today, what a golf course, stunning.

 

Im more than happy to pay the money, as to me, seeing as many as 15 hours of absolutely top class golf in such a world class venue is more than good value for money to me, where i could pay nearly £30 to sit in the cold, for 90 mins, usually upset if the second half of the season is anything to go by at Leicester.

 

I take my backpack with food in it too. no problem there. I was at Lytham last year too and i didnt find the food pricing too extortionate to be honest IMO

I went to Lytham last year and thought it was well worth the dollar. I fell asleep in the 18th grandstand on the Saturday morning because I was a little bit hungover but it was still a great 2 days. 75 quid for a weekend is pretty good value as far as I'm concerned, that's barely more than 2 90 minutes of football, and it lasts a whole weekend. I'd deffo go again for that much if I had the time off work.

Well said! Yesterday was one of the best days I've had in a long while. Sun burnt this morning though, haha.

Garcia 200/1 ew (you just never know!)

Hunter Mahan 66/1 (best chance for a decent return)

Westwood 15/2 (safety bet)

Day 33/1 (think he's finished)

Bjorn 200/1 (now 1000/1!!!)

Big Phil and Stenson are the 2 of my 4 picks still in contention. BetVictor paying 8 places so hoping they both get in there, and maybe even one of 'em nicks it. 

 

Gonna be a good day to watch either way. Westwood/Woods is a great final pair unless one of them flops.

Is Westwood not playing with Hunter?

 

Must say though, it promises to be a gripping climax. The course is the ultimate test, both in its difficulty, and its fairness. There are very few dodgy bounces on this course, its simply the players, the elements, clever design and strategic bunkering. And i love it. Players have proved that, when the shots are hit that are asked for, a 69 or 68 is out there for someone to have. However, trouble lurks around every corner.

 

Id keep an eye out for someone outside of the top few groups to have one of those nothing to lose, freewheeling type rounds and trouble the lead

Is Westwood not playing with Hunter?

EDIT: Scrap what I said, just seen the tee off times he is with Mahan. Would have preferred to see him with Woods, think Woods will play well and keep Westwood on his toes, pushing him to victory.

I hope youre right, certainly wouldnt begrudge Westy the major that has evaded him his whole career after so many near misses.

 

One of professional golfs good guys too.

Lee Westwood doesn't have all of his clubs working today, but playing with a lot of grit. He may be able to regroup on the back 9.

Lefty is on fire now and is right back into the mix.

I can't root for Adam Scott because real men don't use belly putters.

Looked like Phil was getting into trouble on 14, was it? But he came through and is putting together a fine final round.

And hit got right close to the pin on 16 and just agonisingly rolled and rolled back down the hill but saved par. His approaches to 17 and 18 have won it for him here, as well as most challengers collapsing. Birdies 18 to confirm this is his day. Played Phil. Go and have a good old Mickelson cry now son :D
