Danizen Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 3. They've beaten more Premiership teams than QPR this season. Good point. Swansea made it look ridiculously easy against QPR, too so Bradford shouldn't be too upset.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. That was the most obvious red card I've ever seen. Had it been Man Utd or Chelsea instead of Bradford and the game was in the balance, nobody would think he should stay on the pitch. 4 divisions higher, 3-0 up just after half time with a penalty to make it 4 and the games, 'in the balance'? We're not talking about Leicester here
ScouseFox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 The fact there are people that actually think that shouldn't have been a red card just makes me hate humanity.
Jimothy Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Nathan Dyer you are a joke son De Guzman is. I'd be pretty pissed of if I had a once in a life time chance to score a hat-trick at Wembley in the biggest match of my career and a mate refused to let me take that chance. Yes De Guzman might be the designated penalty taker but what an absolute arse, just give the ball to your mate and let him realise a dream.

The rules have to be the same whether it's Bradford or Man Utd, whether it's 0-0 or 3-0 or 10-0.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 How did Bradford beat TWO PL teams? This is men v boys. They're on a very wide pitch, Swansea not giving them any time on the ball, whereas both Arsenal and Villa did
foxesfan1989 Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 De Guzman is. You don't think he is desperate to score at Wembley? He is the pen taker, and they got a pen in a cup final. If that was me you better believe I am taking that pen, no matter who else wants it.

What if it's de Guzman's dream to score in a Wembley final in the biggest game of his career? He's the designated penalty taker, he takes all the pressure when it matters and probably a lot of stick if he ever misses, he should be allowed to have that one too.

I'm pretty sure De Guzman would quite like to score at Wembley as well, and given that he was the guy taken down as he was about to bag from 1 yard out, what's the issue.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Put your fukin flags down and celebrate properly
Kitchandro Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Were the fans actually booing the decision to take him off or am I imagining that?

De Guzman may have other chances to score at Wembley, he may have other chances in this game. He might play in other finals, he might play international matches there. I will guarantee, 100%, Nathan Dyer will never ever get another chance to score a hat-trick in a major cup final

The rules have to be the same whether it's Bradford or Man Utd, whether it's 0-0 or 3-0 or 10-0. But this isn't in the balance. At 0-0 or whatever it's a red. Clearly. You always hear about refs using discretion about bookings. Whether it's what would be a red card later in the match but if a bad foul has occurred only a few mins in they may only give a yellow. Like a player who's already on a yellow, they can sometimes get away with what usually would be a yellow card, but as the ref would then send him off he just gets a talking to. Technically the ref and you are right but let's have a bit of common sense

Still, he plays for a side who regularly make cup finals so maybe you're right.

Technically the ref and you are right but let's have a bit of common sense Refs can use their discretion with bookings in the first few minutes if they're being lenient. They can't not send someone off for something like that, because that would be breaking the rules. Common sense and the rules tell you that he had to go, there was absolutely no other option. I don't even agree with letting players off bookings just because they don't want to send them off, I think that's disgraceful refereeing when they do that. Referees need to be consistent and stick to the rules. It's not their job to feel sorry for players.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Gutting for Bradford. Itd be brill if de Guzman gets a hattrick now lol

It's kind of how football works, you need two teams to play and one is generally a home team and the other travels. And European international teams tend to do that quite a lot with other European international teams. Also De Guzman is only on loan at Swansea, after a very good season, it wouldn't be that strange that a team that does regularly reach finals snaps him up rather than him rejoin Swansea, happened with Sigurdson last year. Also that's one more cap than Dyer has. Oh and look he ****ing scored anyway. So I was right he would get another chance, and he's taken it, and Dyer has lost his chance, and will never ever get that chance again.

Finnegan Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Fantastic to hear Hymns And Arias echoing round Wembley. Hats off to the Bradford fans too though.
foxfanazer Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Gutting for Bradford. Itd be brill if de Guzman gets a hattrick now lol was going to say exactly the same thing!

It's great that you aren't making any assumptions about what will happen to De Guzman. He'll never get a long injury, he'll definitely be in a Netherlands side to play at Wembley, he's guaranteed to get a move to a big English club who makes regular cup finals. Absolute rubbish, in that moment, after he's been taken down when ready to slot in from a yard out, and, as the designated penalty taker, he has every right to take that penalty. He's not thinking that years down the line he'll get more chances to score at Wembley. 2nd goal was clearly an o.g. but lets only see what we want to. Wouldn't want to give an o.g. to the poor Bradford player on their big day.
