5waller5 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Quitting because of Pearson after 30 years of going suggests he's the worst we've had in that time which is just laughable considering the likes of Sousa, Megson, Allen, Levein, Kelly, Pleat. If you've fallen out with football fine, but probably our best or second best season in a decade, decent home form and performances up until of late doesn't really stack up. I think the rational explanation for it is the disconnect between the expectation and the recent performances. We were on fire - playing great and needed a striker (and maybe one or two others as a discussion point) ..... We've invested all that money ... we've given Nigel 18 months, we're playing great, we hit second spot .... we sign a striker ..... he scores for fun ..... The expectation is to kick on and be challenging for the title. The slide is so massive in terms of both form, performance and expectation it's like someone's popped the balloon, not deflated it slightly. We've never experienced anything ike that in terms of disappointment - because we've really always performed over expectation or around it, or slightly under it ..... never so far under in such a short space of time, just as we expected so much. The form of the last 8 games against the form of the previous 8 must be bottom of the table against top of the table ..... I honestly don't know of any other example of such a difference in form.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Nothing is over... Nothing Pearson has had a bad week. The performances, the Tuesday interview... It's been bad. He could go if we lose on Tuesday. That's a real possibility IMO. However, I'm Leicester till I die and I will be backing the players until its mathematically impossible to achieve success. It's not about being a Pearsonite for me. It's about supporting my football club. Balls to Cardiff. If they go up they'll be one of the worst teams to do so in years. I'm still backing us and always will. Pearson or Sven? No fookin contest for me, despite the former's limitations. Get behind em and stay behind em. Totally agree Col, it is about supporting our beloved Leicester City, we have suffered far worse dross over the years and we still went down and supported! (Happy clapper like a Seal on Crack ) LTID

Well, considering how much these people hated Pearson from day one I'm shocked they had such high expectation. I didn't and I quite like him! Perhaps people need to manage their expectations better?
Guest Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Don't you dare criticise the Pearson God!! You see see it's this attitude I simply don't get. The majority of people on here who defend Pearson don't do so blindly and clearly recognise that he has limits and faults (like anybody). Criticism doesn't however mean berating and deriding a decent manager and calling for him to be sacked every time something goes wrong.
Kitchandro Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 I don't mean to cause offence ... but i simply don't get it. You no longer go to the games because the fans piss you off .... but you carry on posting on here everyday and mix with those exact fans??? Nearly 10,000 posts on a forum in just over 2 years but you don;t attend the games??? That's a mystery to me. I'm not sure what you don't get. The nearly 10,000 posts reflects my interest in Leicester and my desire for them to do well. There are plenty of people with thousands of posts on here who don't even live in the country and can barely get to any games. No I don't mix with those exact fans. I converse with a variety of City fans on here, some are reasonable, some talk shit. The fans pissing me off is one reason I don't go, another is finances, another is feeling a bit insulted by the price increase. The idea of going to the football still appeals to me, the reality of it doesn't.
Legend_in_blue Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Surprisingly to the point...... NFP's default style is longball 4-4-2, I hugely enjoyed our passing game early season even though it came as a huge surprise. But sadly, after hitting the top spot in October our form has been in steady, but irregular decline. I have been banging on for months that we need to play our aggressive passing game, both home and away, but the team has been progressively set up more and more negatively, I'm guessing because NFP was trying to hang on to his high league position rather than 'going for it' and trying to continue the drive for automatic promotion. This lack of ambition first became obvious in the games against Palace and Millwall, where we set up negatively, got dominated and lost. This set the pattern which was really frustrating as, from time to time, we still showed how good we could be....... This is it exactly. The worrying thing is that our early season form is down to the team "spoiling" us in terms of quality - NFPs words. No Pearson, it's called dominating teams and believing in what you do, it's what's needed to get out of this league and its what needed to stand a faint hope of playing in a similar fashion in the Premier League without lasting one season in it. Unfortunately for us, NFP is now setting up our team in exactly the same way as he did two/three years ago and our free flowing passing game of the early season seems a long long way away now. It's a damage limitation exercise and if it continues we will fall short of 6th imo. This negativity in tactical play, setup, call it what you like - it has spread throughout the playing squad like a virus and it's affecting everyone to the point where we are scrapping against non footballing sides and are calling for some midfield hardnut that we do not possess. We didn't need a midfield hardnut early season because we played teams off the field of play. Instead of playing to our strengths we struggle along in some feeble attempt to get something out of games rather than impose ourselves on the opposition. It's a shambles and considering the playing squad at our disposal, yes it may be small, no complaints there, but we are far better than this. I don't expect much out of tomorrow's game and our two recent home performances have screwed us up imo. 6/10 away from home? You can bet Pearson will set us up to limit ourselves to 1-0 hopeful wins. We'll fall short.

However, let's not forget, and add McClintock to the list of shame, now that really was dross of the highest order. Fortunately most of you wouldn't have been around to witness that season, which was a crime against LCFC.

Perhaps people need to manage their expectations better? So we go from 2nd spot and top of the form table, sign the striker that we've all craved, he hits the net for fun, and then we plummet to 6th, bottom of the form table, and play the worst football we've seen for ages, and it's the fan's expectations that's at fault?
CKB Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 I like NP and i'm fully behind him but i think he made a big mistake in January, he i think thought the squad he had would be enough but it was clear we were lacking depth... I always thought with the squad we had playoffs were our best bet... We lack at least 3 more players to add depth to the squad but not just depth either a case for them to be in the starting 11 or to push the first 11 on and to have really mounted a true case for automatic promotion Injuries and lack of form have come to bite us on the ass and has resulted in NP playing strikers on the wing because he just hasn't got the quality in depth... I don't buy the fact NP had no money either, Wood came in then Kane later on loan but it just wasn't enough and players are out there so i don't buy that crap either... We needed midfield/winger options, we needed left back options but NP didn't address this at all.. We saw the signs already that King, Drinkwater got out fought in midfield and were just too nicey, nice and we had to go back to that combo because James got injured... We were seeing that Knockaert was struggling with form, Marshall has been poor most of the season, Dyer gives his all but just isn't true first 11 material, Gallagher? bench at best, Wellens? behave, Konch at times went into pilot mode because he had no genuine competition and then got injured which resulted in us playing a left winger at LB and then recalling a guy who was on trial who isn't a true LB either!

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 It's like a war zone on this forum at the moment. I just want my beloved Leicester to start winning again, not really sure I care who the manager is and which players play as long as they give their all. Up the Foxes

rico Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 You want your Pearson in?You want your Pearson out? in ? out? in ? out? What's it all about?
Simmo86 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Hull winning cheerio 2nd place! It's ok though, we might nick a playoff spot!
Happy Fox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Why haven't the Thais sacked him yet? McDermott is available bring him in!

If they have built up their expectations so much that they want to stop going after 30 years because we dare to be fifth... Yes that's their fault.
Callabinho Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Why haven't the Thais sacked him yet? McDermott is available bring him in! Wouldn't want that boiled egg within one mile of the place, can't stand the bloke!
Simmo86 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Wouldn't want that boiled egg within one mile of the place, can't stand the bloke! Good manager though Knows how to get out of the division, tactically flexible........ If only we had a man...........
ADK Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Have to say i'm pretty bored with Pearson, he just dosn't inspire me as a fan and i wonder if the players feel the same way. Is his attitude around the players very different to the way he handles the media? I hope so.
Fox92 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Knows how to get out of the division, tactically flexible........ Got out of this division once at three attemps (I think it's three). This year will be Nigel's third attempt as well, and in that time he has guided an average side to the play offs, just like McDermott did. Also worth noting, as I said in the other thread, Reading won 3 out of 10 games (I think it was 10, maybe more) at the start of last season. They lost at home to the likes of Millwall and Barnsley (no disrespect). I wonder how many Reading fans were on his back then? I wonder how many fans supported him? In terms of him being tactically flexible. I remember Reading beating us at home, all they did were knock the ball up to Kebe who flicked it on. And, he was at Reading for about 10 years (?) prior to him actually getting the manager's job.
Callabinho Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Good manager though Knows how to get out of the division, tactically flexible........ If only we had a man........... Maybe so, but the thought of having a Matt Lucas look alike parading around the technical area makes me sick..........I wonder if he ever went as Andy Pipkin to the Christmas parties?

First year took over with them near the bottom, nearly reached the playoffs Second year got them to the playoff final without spending a penny Third year went up as champions without spending a penny and even managed to con us out of 4 million for Matt Mills The mans a bleeding genius!
Callabinho Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 That thought made me smile! I suppose the question is, who pushed him?
