The Smoke Bomb Saga

My posts are generally more out of frustration today, but I don't get why one of your fellow Owls said 'cup final'. We took 4000 fans to your place earlier in the season, end of. And this need for who takes more fans is generally annoying.

No idea. I think he was just on a windup sensing one or two foxes are on edge at the moment with current form fishing for bites and it looks like he wasn't disappointment :-)

I went to school with a lot of Wednesday fans (United and Leeds). Throughtout the last years of my school years, it was ourselves and Sheffield Wednesday that were constantly in relegation battles, when you eventually beat us 1-3 and we got relegated, I was seriously hammered by some of my friends (fair play, I would have done the same!). Some of them still bring it up... So, if you understand, the biggest game for me (still is) is Sheffield Wednesday. I don't hate you, just can't stand losing to you, so it was a bitter pill to swallow yesterday (yet again). I do like my trips to Hillsborough though.

TBH I find it sad when ANY team is relegated - even our arch enemy the blades but someone has to go @ the end of the season. I take it you are from the north then seeing has the majority of school friends supported Yorkshire clubs?

I sit in l1 and must say it did bring back memories of being in the old pens, in the days when coin throwing was a regular thing, but as a kid back then it was a good earner once they ran out of anal change lol, since the move from filbert street the club has done everything they can to make it nice for families, and fans are shocked when something like this happens now, if there was forums in the 90's I don't think this incident wouldn't have made it on there as it was the norm, well maybe not the smoke bombs.

Exactly, 80s and 90s had real atmosphere, not induced by a smoke bomb, a drum or bouncing up and down. Good numbers from Sheffield who obviously enjoy watching shit served up week in week out. They were absolutely shite and we couldn't even match them.

In reply to Yorkshire, I live in Hillsborough and have loads of Wednesday fans as mates. I also go to some of the games with them.

Now I know for a fact that it was a big day out yesterday for them, three coach loads went from the park hotel at 9.00am. Don't get me wrong Wednesday do get a good following away most games but please stop this crap about we do every away game.

The atmosphere at most grounds has gone since the new all seated grounds came into affect. The 300 or so palace fans did out sing you lot the other week but to be fair most away fans do sing more than the home fans. This reply is not sore grapes or any of that crap but just a reality check to the muppets from both sides that bang on about atmosphere and all that, times have changed since the good old days of 70,80's and even 90's. For me yesterday as a Leicester lad was great to see some of the old faces from the longstop days still going strong and supporting their team.

Palace didn't out sing us.

I didn't hear them once.

For 4,000 fans you were exceptionally quite, especially when your in and around the play-offs.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed your cup final and we'll be back next year.

WEDNESDAY

Look at the away attendance figures..

You provide me with the figures and I'll look.

Last time I saw an away following of yours you had about 300 at Hull

Wednesday average 2400second best in league, which is very impressive.we are a shade over 2 k.

Why it was our cup final comment baffles me.care to explain as I'm not sure what you mean.

I have this impression you would think every other team in the worlds support is shit compared to the" sanitary owls"but least we admit that we can be shit.its not a big deal to admit some flaws sometimes,we all have them.

True but that cup final comment did wind us all up I think, just because I don't get what he means. You arn't that big. Yeah, I'm from the North.

Certainly up there with the best away sets I've seen at the new ground. Great range of songs, everybody seemingly like-minded. They seem to go to enjoy themselves and not take it too seriously. Plenty of our fans could take a leaf out of Wednesday's book, our support (home and away) has been utter dogshit this season.

And before someone starts quoting numbers, they're meaningless unless people are bothering to use their voices!

Our fans would be great in the Premier League away from home, we'd be much more light-hearted as the underdogs.

'We're Sheffield Wednesday and we'll do what we want' is quite frankly the worst song I've ever heard at our ground!

We sing it as well. I think it got an airing at London Road when were all told to move forward.

Lets the home supporters know the force that occupies the away end will not be ordered around! lol

Getting fed up with the Sloop John B tune being used for every song.

Whenever I hear it, I just want to go home.

Just aired my views on this in the "Drum" thread. In my opinion its killing football and helping me fall out of love with the game

The worst was 'I'm forever blowing bubbles'.

From our fans.

Leeds were louder than shelf Wednesday and they had 800 less fans

I'd agree with that. Although that's not knocking Wednesday's away support because they did generally seem like a decent bunch overall, when they weren't throwing smoke bombs and (allegedly) coins at our fans!
