Glasto 2013 official line-up

Recommended Posts

Best band there?. Urban voodoo machine obviously.

Enjoyed that one, mate. A bit of a mid-80s feel, Nick Cave crossed with mid-period Pogues (this is a good thing!)

Slim, ex-Boothill Foot Tappers on accordion, if I'm not much mistaken?

If so, I'll almost certainly be there. I frequent the Donkey occasionally anyway.

Not on the web sites of either the Donkey or the band yet, so I assume you heard from other sources. Early days...

I'm popping my Glasto-cherry this year, the line-up looks good, but then it isn't really about the music.

Will try and check out Urban Voodoo machine, any other hidden gems in there, not heard of a lot of those bands.

It's not just about the music, definitely. In fact if there was no Pyramid or Other Stage I'd happily still pay the admission fee because on its day there is simply no other place like it.

That said it's the music that provides those moments at Glastonbury that you never forget... one I'll always remember is Hot Chip playing as the sun was setting in 2010, just bloody magical. Another was Stevie Wonder closing the Pyramid Stage in the same year. Plus the less well known acts like some guy dressed up as Prince playing Prince tunes at The Hub in Shangri-La at 4am, at that point you just don't want to be anywhere else.

I'll predict right now that Of Monsters and Men will provide another of those moments, they're music sounds like it's been made for Glastonbury. And then another is The XX headlining The Other Stage on Sunday night - that has got legendary set written all over it.

So excited.

Foxestalk is probably the only place I've seen people talking positively about the line up.

Where are they bitching about it? Plenty of good bands on there, more to be added, any you don't like you just don't see.

I will change my statement from earlier, it's not really about the music line-up.

That line-up does look fantastic.

I frequented Glastonbury many times in the late 80's & early 90's........loved every minute of it. I did get the feeling that it had become a little too commercialised & this seemed to coincide with Radio 1 jumping all over it.

It's not solely about the music, but as James said, the music can provide some of the most unforgettable moments. When everything just comes together & makes the most magical of times.........the perfect cocktail of music, atmosphere, weather, alcohol, friends & drugs.

The headline acts are what I would usually consider the worst. But Glastonbury is big enough that there is always something special going on somewhere. I hope this year is a scorcher for all those lucky enough to be going

I'm so out of touch now that for all I know it COULD be a brilliant line up.

Why the hell anyone under the age of 45 would be excited about seeing the Stones (which a lot of folk seem to be) is beyond me though

Agreed.

Doesn't matter how out of touch you are, if they were actually any good you'd probably have heard of some of them ;)

I didn't realise that to be good you had to be well known? :dunno:

What exactly is wrong with the line-up? Personally there are some cracking bands on there, probably be most excited by seeing Nick Cave, there are some guaranteed top performers like the Arctic Monkeys, and plenty I've not heard of and look forward to checking out, or not.

I'm not going but I'd be pretty excited to see one of the greatest rock bands, with very talented musicians, play live. Stones are one of my favourite bands and although they are very far from their peak, I'd enjoy seeing them perform.
