JonnyBoy Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 would love it if there was a TV stream for this, doubtful though
marbelladave Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 My mobile texting is doing crazy things, but getting back to the match tomoz,if we go 4-4-2 regardless of stats we will get beat, play the same side as tuesday and we will stand a better chance of winning. Errrrr....... Wasn't that 4-4-2 ?
dayday Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 When we were doing so well with 4-4-2,the only team we lost to was palace because we so scared of zaha, the formation that day was ineffective.
marbelladave Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 When we were doing so well with 4-4-2,the only team we lost to was palace because we so scared of zaha, the formation that day was ineffective. That day we set up very negatively, seemingly frightened of Palace's pace on the wings, still 4-4-2 but with Dyer and Knockaert deep and 'tucked in', virtually playing as wing backs. With our fullbacks holding position and our wide men directly in front of them we had no one to hit in transition so long ball and miss placed passes were the result. We barely got out of our half in the first 45. Strangely and despite it's in effectiveness, NFP continued with the negative setup, particularly away from home, Watford, Millwall, Leeds, etc. It didn't work in those games either, why NFP has persisted with this negativity is the mystery of the season, for me anyway.
Captain... Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 If I was looking to set-up to counteract Palace I would go 532, an extra CB means that one can always push out and cover the flanks when our full backs go forward, but that would mean playing Whitbread or Konchesky as centre back, unless Moore is back from his loan, in which case I would select him. Kasper Moore Morgan Keane RDL-------------------------Konchesky James King Drinkwater Wood Schlupp Would be harsh to drop Dyer, but he would be a great impact sub to switch to 442 if needed. I don't think for one minute that this will be the line-up, Pearson rarely seems to take the opposition into consideration when picking his team. I would be surprised if he picked the same team for this match though, by all accounts Knocky was a bit of a passenger and that is not what is needed for a tough away game, unless he favours Marshall over Knocky, or goes for a midfield 3 and Dyer and Schlupp taking the wide roles, I don't know.

Hope he breaks his negative habits for this away game as I think if we have a right go at them I think we might sneak it
Happy Fox Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 We have to win this game no question so I expect a positive mindset from NP and taking the game towards Palace

Dan Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 4-4-2 away with King in the middle hasn't worked all season. Look at the stats. Our away form is very poor. I genuinely don't know the way to play this one. I'm thinking along the lines of taking it to them and going for it. The sensible thing would be to play to not concede. How things stand, a draw is not as bad as it would seem, depending upon other results of course. Pearson will really be earning his corn picking the right team and formation to get a result for this one. We've got to treat it like a home game. Not the home game like we had against them, god no, but we've got to go there and go for three points regardless of our pitiful away form. The greatest barrier to our success away from home comes from negativity and poor defending after inviting that trouble. I'd go with the same team though personally.

Somehow we must play a formation that controls the game as much as possible AND the players must play like its a cup final. Make no mistake, Palace will be up for this one. On the back of a very dodgy run themselves and being in threat of dropping out of the play offs, this is a massive game for them too. The side that wins this fixture may well be the side that wants it the most. The term 'passion' has become unfashionable, as it implies a loss of control. However, passion from the players and the fans will be crucial tomorrow. It's a massive game make no mistake.
Ashley Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 Anyone got any spare away end tickets for this. Im at uni in London and live just down the road from Palace. I have. Will PM you! Lets hope you check forestalk
Leicesterpool Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 Team for Palace- 4-4-2 Kasper De Laet Morgan Keane Konchesky James King Dyer Schlupp Nugent Wood BENCH: Logan Whitbread Drinkwater Vardy Kane Knocky Marshall or Waghorn (can't make up my mind) Or more attacking tactics 3-4-3 Kasper Morgan Whitbread Keane King James Dyer Schlupp Waghorn Wood Nugent BENCH: Logan Moore Marshall Knocky De Laet Konchesky Kane or Vardy (can't make my mind on that one) Thoughts please

I'd also have Moore over Whitbread.
SmithyFox12 Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 ^ Dyer Schlupp Waghorn Nugent AND Wood? Couldn't see it working if i'm honest.
Fox92 Posted 19 April 2013 Posted 19 April 2013 Same team if possible? Can't actually wait now. Looked at the table again just to get me up for it even more, a win would be massive!

raba Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Morning all. I hope those of you travelling down have a safe journey & enjoy the game. Regardless of the result I will pop on here later and give my view on the match. How are you all feeling about today? I was looking forward to this but I've woken up filled with dread!
SmithyFox12 Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Absolutely buzzing for it now. Leaving at 8:30, should be a quality day!
indierich06 Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 I'll be there, seeing as its only about half an hour away from my house. Where is everyone drinking pre-match?
AaronH Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 'Defender Lloyd Dyer could make his 250th career league start' Got to love the bbc
KFS Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 If we isolate the wing play and play quick, high energy football we can win this IMO. Looking at their possible lineup- Murray might give Keane a good game but if he isn't getting the service then that isn't a worry. KP always likes a goal against us but if Big Wes bullies him then again, not a worry. Zaha against Konch could be our downfall but he's not particularly that quick, so I can see Paul having a good game if he's up to it. Dobbie will be their play maker so we'll just have to watch that but if James is at his best, again no real threat. Just have to wait and see... COYB!
marbelladave Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Normally I would expect our management to have done their homework and prepared us for what Palace will bring to the game but we have been woeful when we have changed things around and tried to contain, if we do that today I expect us to lose. If we were in any kind of decent form, I would say play 4-4-2 and get after them but despite beating Bolton I still don't think we have it in us to get much from today's game. A scrappy draw is the best I can see us managing........
Libertine Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Having done the predictor, we could likely make it with just another 4 points. So it's certainly not over if we don't win here.
Buzzell Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 4-4-2 Kasper RDL Keane Morgan Konchesky Knocky James King Dyer Wood Schlupp Same team against Bolton. Going for a 2-0 win, Woods double.
