Burbage Fox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay for one more season but IMPROVE as a manager. Learn from your errors, focus on your strengths. I said at the start of this season that I can see us being promoted NEXT season. And I hope that's true. For it to be true, Pearson and the squad have to get better. If we stay at this level, we won't make it. So what makes you think that NP is capable of learning from his mistakes? He has IMO reached his level and is an arrogant man that believes we have done well for most of the season, well for one third of the season we were in relation form! Take his treatment of Stringer, and I am no Stringer fan, he is now refusing to talk to him on the radio because he dare ask questions we all wanted to ask about our poor form. Ask people who are involved in the Accademy and how he treats people down there, they will tell you. there is NO evidence that he will change!!
Kitchandro Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 At the moment, I've voted stay. Only because I cannot see an obvious and realistic replacement. Pearson was building something but his plan has fallen by the wayside. Can he pick it up again and find what he had in January? It's hard to say. It cant be ignored that he's made some glaring errors in the last few months and he has been apparently blind to a lot of them. He didn't know how to get back to the way we were, he seemed to not have any control. The Forest game has essentially papered over the cracks, I wasn't impressed with us on the whole in either play-off match, there was some promise in the first halves but overall it was clear we were well behind Watford in terms of quality. We have progressed this year, but we've actually gone backwards since January. This is obviously the biggest worry and the main argument for sacking him. I do like Pearson, and deep down I hope he stays and takes us up next year. But I don't really have a lot of faith in him anymore. I can't say I'm clamouring for any other manager. I am fed up of the managerial merry go round and it's not done us much good in the past, so why do people think any new man would miraculously change our fortunes?
peach0000 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 since the play offs i have changed my mind during the bad run i wanted pearson to stay but the playoffs really showed how awful our style of football is compared to watford and now i would want him to go.

????? Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay- we will get no where if we keep sacking managers. In 3 full seasons under Pearson we have won promotion and had two play-off campaigns. Keep him and let him build something!
Charl91 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Honestly, I don't know. It's a huge risk. It depends which Pearson which see next season. If it's the start of the season Pearson, I would be delighted. If it was the post-January Pearson, then I would say gid rid ASAP. If we carry on playing like that (not just results wise - but the style of football) then we're going to be on target for relegation. If he does stay, he needs to figure out what went horribly wrong and sort it out.
AyewJoking Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 The players are here, granted we still need strengthening. After a shambolic second half to the season we somehow scraped into the play-offs and almost made the final but deservedly lost out. Managers have been sacked for far less. Blame the players if you want but clearly there is something wrong and he either doesnt see it, doesnt know how to fix it or is too stubborn to fix it. Right now I wouldnt mind if he was sacked but he gets a stay of execution because I dont want to go back to square one, again.
Babylon Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I'm torn, overall we have gone forward and he met my minimum of playoffs this year... but we have had no real plan or style of football for some time and that's massively worrying.
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay. Still can't believe what I witnessed from the stands but we have a young squad who will only improve with a few additions, not really much point in ripping it all up and starting again, we're not far off having a very good young squad with Nigel at the helm:) LTID

AyewJoking Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 The simple answer for some will be to sack Nigel, but simple answers are for simple people. If you take a look at our record since O'Neil, even the simple ones can work out he has been by far the best we have had. I'll give you a couple of years under Adams weren't bad, He won league 1 in year 1. And in the other 2 full seasons in the championship we have made the play offs. In the years bewteen reaching the play offs, we changed the manager every few months and got what we deserved......NOTHING. We should have stuck by Nigel after the reaching the first play off semi. Only a simple person would make the same mistake twice. Just look at the players Nigel signs, All of them improve our club. All of them will be worth more if ever sold on. With the new fair play rules Nigel is exactly the type of manager we need. The defeat yesterday was disappointing but exciting at the same time. The last 3 bursts of excitement for football reasons at our club have all been under Pearson. Losing sucked, but being involved was brilliant and I want more of those times please.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I hope your right Col Not sure myself, just wish we could entice a young and hungry manager to get some excitement back into the club I'm even torn on the 'excitement' thing mate. Some of the games this season under Pearson have been brilliant haven't they? Only a week or so ago we beat Forest, at their place, with a 91st minute winner! Earlier in the season we were cruising.. And I mean cruising... Then, other games have been utter, utter dog shite... It's been a weird season mate, But I'm sticking with my 'two-year plan'. Nige had mess to clear up from Sven, wages to bring down and all that... And some big characters to manage. Now he gets one more season, from me, to show us what he can really do. If he fails again (remember, by his OWN admission), then ill be wanting a change. Co-incidentally, I could be wrong, but I've always thought the Thais would give him two full seasons too. If he stays, how we start next season will be key.
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 indykaila Newsâ€@indykaila38m Exclusive: This week Nigel Pearson has planned talks with #Leicester board regarding his position at the club via club source. #LCFC This guy is usually pretty accurate. Will be interesting to find out what comes from these "talks". I imagine its more just a debrief than anything.
flowwolf Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Quite pleasantly surprised to see the results so far. Gives me a bit of faith in our fans (or at least Foxestalk) and adds weight to the idea that the ones opposed to Pearson are just a loud minority. You could not be more wrong . For some reason on here the pearson supporters are in the majority but this is just a fan site and is in no way representative of the views of the majority of fans. I cannot understand how anyone could eignore the last eighteen league games just because we scraped into the playoffs. And what did we see against watford away the same old hoofball ? yep and if you really want to see Pearsons lack of skills just look at the Shlupp left back situation, no way should he have been playing in that position it was a panic measure because Pearson knew like the rest of us that Conch has no speed and would be ripped apart by watford. So why was this position not sorted out at the start of the season and subsequent transfer windows ? At the end of it all no one on here weither they like pearson or not has any say if he will be here next season, but it is a sure bet the owners see him as a loser and will move to replace him asp.

Yeah, a Leciester City Fan Site is completely unrepresentative of what Leicester City fans think, isn't it? What on earth are you going to come out with next?! Keep clutching at straws to support your argument mate, the vast majority on here are in favour of NP staying as are the vast majority of Leicester fans I know outside of the forum. Where were the people chanting Pearson Out on Sunday? Where were the boos? Surely if the majority of Leicester fans were against Pearson, like you say, then they would have made their voices heard?
Guest BlueBrett Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I'm torn, overall we have gone forward and he met my minimum of playoffs this year... but we have had no real plan or style of football for some time and that's massively worrying. It's a strange one for me too. A few weeks ago I was completely indifferent. I could take him or leave him. Weirdly I now feel a kind of affinity for him and I think I'm coming round to believing he should stay. You have to recognise that he has handled himself with the utmost professionalism throughout these crazy few weeks. I also think that the experience of the last few weeks and the manner of our play-off exit will have had a huge impact in terms of bonding the squad and staff together and I genuinely believe that, if they didn't before, the players now see themselves as brothers in arms. If we can keep the group together I feel they will rally under Pearson's leadership and return to fight hard for the Leicester City cause. On the flip side, if NP was to go who knows what impact this would have? It could be the first inadvertent step towards the dismantling the entire side - and I don't think many of us really want that. If we can clear out the dead wood (which NP has already identified), keep the same nucleus of key players and supplement it with 3 or 4 quality additions, we should have a real chance of coming back stronger next year. Given that this is all we really need, is it really necessary to overhaul the management and embed an entirely new hierarchy to accomplish our ends? I don't think it is.

From what I recall, Watford's first two goals came either from the left side (De Laet territory) or through the middle (Morgan/Keane zone). But yeah, let's just slate Pearson for the fact that he did make the right decision.
5waller5 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I think the emotional win against Florist and the gutsy performance against a very good Watford side have gained NP some feel good factor. I'm much less certain about whether he should be sacked or not ..... However he hasn't progressed us nearly enough and when the emotions of being together against the world have worn off in a few weeks then I'll more clearly remember the dire football, the lack of tactics, and the bizzarre substitutions, as well as the signing of yes men only ..... It's closer a decision than it was a few weeks ago .... but still "go" for me.

It's a bit like predicting the groundsman will water the pitch this week though isn't it? Regardless of what happens NP would have a meeting with the Chairman a few days after the season finishes.
hackneyfox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I didn't want him and his turgid football back at the club and nothing that he did last season changed my mind. This season when we played it on the floor and took the game to the opposition I thought that perhaps he'd learnt and moved forward as a manger, then for some reason he reverted to defending first and the sparkle disappeared. The last 18 games or so have been dreadful and we've gone backwards as a team, yes they've looked up for it again in the last few games but something is still clearly wrong. The team, let alone the squad is clearly not good enough and changes need to be made so the argument over a new manager bringing in new players is redundant. He's bought in Morgan but we seem unable to attract any other experienced players when the team was screaming out for an experienced midfielder and defender. There never appear to be a number of better managers available, strange that, I wonder why? What do other clubs do about that, perhaps they let the current manager go and better managers suddenly make themselves known as being available? The high turnover of managers over the last few years is of no importance, in the main they were dogshit and should have gone earlier, why worry about mistakes made in the past, perhaps the next manager will move us on, perhaps he won't but I have no confidence in Pearson being able to do it. Time to go
