stevenaive Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 What Langydoc sed. There are 23 other teams trying to do the same next year. Peterborough only got 14 points less than us this year and went down. To prosper we have to try and take the luck out of things. Build a 3-5 year plan for promotion, not a 1-year because anything can happen in one year to derail the best plans. The only way to do this is to have some STABILITY. Look around and assess the success of clubs with a long-term managerial policy versus those without....
Burbage Fox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Go Get someone in to build on what we've got now. Sickens me to see us described as a hoofball team after what we produced earlier on in the season. We've gone so far backwards since February! Sickens me too but cant deny thats what we have become, and even with hoof ball you need forwards that can control it... horrible to hear the WATFORD fans basically taking the P*** about our style of play, but there you go.
Outfox the Fox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Time to Go!! he has tried twice and failed simple. This was a poor league and we just sneaked in, then beaten by a team with better movement and players with a manager who has had less time than NP. Dont get excited about we could have won with the penalty.. Watford looked liked could have scored everytime they went forward, compare Deeney with either Kane or Wood both of who have been terrible recently and are no better than Waghorn or Vardy or IMO Beckford. Next season is massive the teams that come down from the PL after that are going to have massive money we cant take the chance on a man who has tried twice and failed despite having the 2nd largest budget in the division. Also dont call me disloyal just because I want a change, I have just renewed my ticket and now I have also inflicted the pain on my son who now has his first season ticket, although I have to say that the thought of more HOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFF ball football which we have witnessed recently does not make me relish a new season underNP. Sorry but thats my feelings An excellent post. Agree with all that.
Munzie Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 What happens if Zola, Holloway or Poyet don't get their respective teams promoted? Do their fickle fans turn on them and insist on the sack? Building a sustainable squad takes time (even when money is readily available). How many teams actually achieve promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking when new owners arrive? We have the spine of a good team, capable of promotion. A settled squad (with the inclusion of one or two new personnel) and a Manager that knows the individuals, is the only way we can push on and go again. Any incoming Manager will want to deconstruct what we've got. That will lead to a summer of uncertainty and a trail & error approach to the new season. We need consistently. We were not far away this season. We need small tweaks to kick on, not open heart surgery.
SVEN-SATIONAL Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I want him to go, but I don't think there's anyone that we could attract that I'd be happy with as a replacement. We'd get a Hughes or an Ince. Nobody wants that. Therefore, I abstain from the vote
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay for one more season but IMPROVE as a manager. Learn from your errors, focus on your strengths. I said at the start of this season that I can see us being promoted NEXT season. And I hope that's true. For it to be true, Pearson and the squad have to get better. If we stay at this level, we won't make it.
Hitesh Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay - look at Cardiff. They had a squad built on the previous season WITH the same manager and they have managed to be consistent all year. Stick with NP...
KFS Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Can we not just build some fvcking identity? I hate the big earners and spenders tags, and Nige would rectify that. The next twat that comes through the door would delve into the funds even more. At least Nige gets it, young and hungry, talented and cheap. I'm all for him.
KFS Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 If we'd have kept him first time round do you think we'd be where we are now? He was building then too. That summer we would have had Koren, Brady, Stewart etc. but no, he was chucked out and if it happens again ill be livid. Modern football is about quick fire hand and we're Leicester who have a ridiculous employee turnover rate. Can we please just buck the trend and be consistent. If anyone from the club reads this, keep Nigel. Even if he doesn't get us up next year, we'll be in an even better position as a club on the whole if he stays.
JohnnyB Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I said stay. Why? Changing managers = 04-08 era..10/11-11/12. Keeping managers more than 1 full season = O Neil - 1996-2000, Adams - 2001-2004, Pearson 2008-2010. Notice everytime we stick with a manager we do well? Stability is key. Go back to Little even, brilliant and consistent, He leaves, we have 1-2 years of transition and struggle before O neil comes. O Neil goes..year or 2 of transition..Adams comes, we keep him after relegation, we go up. He leaves, 4 years of absolute sh*te. Pearson comes in - Promotion/Playoffs. He leaves, 2 years of transition again. First full season, playoffs again. so IMO, just judging by 'form': If he leaves: 2 years of transition or maybe a 4 year dark era?, might as well not watch in 13/14 and 14/15 and we might have a chance by 2016. If he stays: Build on what we have and Id fancy our chances next season. Quite an obvious choice really. Depending how were doing up by 10-15 games next year. If we are very poor, then Ill change my mind maybe..For now it would be a discusting decision to get rid of him. Think Chinese, Think be careful what you wish for. I've said stay for all the reasons deanolegend1989 mentioned above. We need to keep a manager for longer than 1.5 seasons. I genuinly believe we're building a decent squad. Theres a lot of quality in there and if we can get players like Danns and Beckford off the wage bill maybe we could afford an extra quality player or two. I'll be gutted if he goes, it will feel just like it did after the Cardiff defeat 3 years ago, when hearing that he's in talks with Hull. I hope we don't make the same mistake again! I totally agree with the 2 posters above - it really is a no brainer. It's also good to see that (currently) the "stays" far outnumber those wanting Pearson to go. That's encouraging - I was half expecting a massive negative knee jerk response to yesterday's disappointing result. Pearson is building something special here - it would be stupid to let that all go.
Danizen Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Questions need answering, problems need to be identified and solutions need be applied. Keep NP, Shakey & Walsh Exactly this. If I was Top, I'd be having a conversation with the staff and I'd want answers. None of this, 'we'll try harder, next season,' shite. I'd want to know exactly what went wrong at the end of January (no holds barred)and what he's going to do over the summer to put it right. If he can't provide answers to these questions, he's gone.
seenitall Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 ...And with that post he lost any shred of credibility he ever had, and let's face it - there wasn't much to start with. You have to laugh when presented with dumb questions like that though.....just because we got it wrong before we should stay with somebody average in case we get it wrong again is what that reads like
McFoxy Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I want him to stay. His recruitemnt plolicy is the best i have seen, and I honestly think that the team bottled it in January through inexperience. He has a level head and doesn't use excuses like we see so many managers doing week in, week out. Sure there are lessons to be learnt, but if he goes they won't be learnt and we will undoubtedly endure another 2-3 years minimum being in the wilderness.
FLINTHAMFC Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 The simple answer for some will be to sack Nigel, but simple answers are for simple people. If you take a look at our record since O'Neil, even the simple ones can work out he has been by far the best we have had. I'll give you a couple of years under Adams weren't bad, He won league 1 in year 1. And in the other 2 full seasons in the championship we have made the play offs. In the years bewteen reaching the play offs, we changed the manager every few months and got what we deserved......NOTHING. We should have stuck by Nigel after the reaching the first play off semi. Only a simple person would make the same mistake twice. Just look at the players Nigel signs, All of them improve our club. All of them will be worth more if ever sold on. With the new fair play rules Nigel is exactly the type of manager we need. The defeat yesterday was disappointing but exciting at the same time. The last 3 bursts of excitement for football reasons at our club have all been under Pearson. Losing sucked, but being involved was brilliant and I want more of those times please.
coolhandfox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 He’s built a young side that will only be better for the experience of this year; with fine tuning and a few new faces to strengthen we will be a force next year. He cleared out a lot of the deadwood and restructured the squad and reduced the wage bill all in 18 months, at time this season we have played fantastic football. Where has sacking 10 plus managers got us……
Gianni07 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay. He needs to clear out the deadwood, then bring in some replacements to plug the gaps. He has all summer now to build our forward players around knockaert giving him a free role. It's better than changing manager and starting from scratch all over again, as that's been proven not to work for us.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Where has this 'big club' mentality came from that if we make it to the play offs and lose we're failures? It has by no means been a truly successful season, but it is a step in the right direction. Of course we want to see our team in the premier league, but it takes time. Majority of the teams in the league see us as a strong side, how typical of it to be some of our fans that see us so negatively. We are building something under Pearson, and although the second half of the season highlighted some major areas for improvement, we are in a better position as a club than we were last year.
James. Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Quite pleasantly surprised to see the results so far. Gives me a bit of faith in our fans (or at least Foxestalk) and adds weight to the idea that the ones opposed to Pearson are just a loud minority.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay, definitely. And hold on to as much of the playing squad as is financially possible and train like mental over summer. As long as we don't have another freakishly bad spell next season we should be strong enough for an automatic position
goose2010 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Stay, get rid of a few hangers on, bring in a big ball winning centre midfielder to play along side James and king and another Centre half to play next to Morgan. Would love to see Keane come back but wouldn't be surprised if he doesnt go on loan to someone in the prem. We have a young squad with bags of talent, it would be stupid to change the manager again.
Fmfox Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 The reason we haven't got to that next step yet is because it takes TIME. If he goes then we go back to square 1. We are 3 or 4 players away from taking that next step. The core of our team is up there with any other team in this division. We didn't nearly get so close to Wembley by luck, it's because we are a good side. Give him another season and I'm convinced we'll do better next season.
