Dan Posted 27 November 2013 Posted 27 November 2013 Haven't they already got one of the biggest squads in the league? Although I do agree with replacing someone who's out for the season, I'm sure they have enough depth already?! Davies is another short-termist. I've seriously gone off him as a manager this season. I always thought he was a twat but a good manager, now he's just a twat who panics. I'd have Pearson over him any day of the week. I'll tell you the way to win the league. If there is ANY chance (wotsoever) we could get Jermaine Defoe in on loan, do it. He's apparently so disillusioned with life at Spurs, he's been linked with Toronto in Canada! He'd be the icing on Nige's cake and would score goals for fun at this level. It may be pie in the sky, but stranger things have happened. He'll go to QPR. Most obvious transfer ever.

Harry - LCFC Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 @John__Percy #dcfc are set to confirm the loan signing of #mufc defender Michael Keane Noooooo Keano
Soar Fox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 @John__Percy #dcfc are set to confirm the loan signing of #mufc defender Michael Keane Noooooo Keano Not as good as Morgan and wouldn't get in our starting 11. He really wasn't as good as people made out he was.
RedHux Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Forest have shipped out Tudgay to Barnsley and Ismael (got all the attributes) Miller to Yeovil until January sometime.
Corky Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Forest have shipped out Tudgay to Barnsley and Ismael (got all the attributes) Miller to Yeovil until January sometime. Oh shit, that could affect our survival chances
Fox92 Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Not sure how true it was, but I saw Defoe had been linked with a West Ham return.
Dan Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Not as good as Morgan and wouldn't get in our starting 11. He really wasn't as good as people made out he was. This. I liked him and thought his interview post-Leicester was very good, but you can stick him in the over-rated thread. He's not as good as Moore for me.
LCFC FOX Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Derby have Whitbread and Keane, Can anyone remember Barnsley away last season with that partnership?
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Not as good as Morgan and wouldn't get in our starting 11. He really wasn't as good as people made out he was. Yes and yes, those two points wouldn't deter me from having him at the club though. I was impressed with how capable he was for a player of that age more than how good he actually was. But I liked him most for his goals against Cardiff and Leeds and thus making a big contribution in getting us into the play offs.
LCFC FOX Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Last season our best CB's were in the following order Morgan Keane St Ledger Whitbread Now if Keane was here it would be Morgan Moore Wasyl Miquel Keane St Ledger
Kitchandro Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I can't understand why anyone would be bothered about Keane. I don't care who he goes to, he had a short term loan here and didn't impress.
Fox92 Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Think it's harsh on Keane considering it was his first professional season when he came here. Jumping straight from reserves to playing regular in the second tier. Of course he isn't as good as Morgan, but I'm sure he'll be a good signing for Derby. He isn't at Manchester United for no reason.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 People make out as if Keane was awful. Fair enough he's overrated but people swing the pendulum too far the other way. I liked him personally and still do.
AdamN Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I don't think anybody's saying he was awful, but with our current strength in depth at centre back, he really wouldn't be needed here. We've got two good youngsters in about the same stage of development as him, plus two vastly experienced (and better) defenders in Was and Wes who are currently keeping their place in the starting 11 on merit.
Kitchandro Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 People make out as if Keane was awful. Fair enough he's overrated but people swing the pendulum too far the other way. I liked him personally and still do. He was personally at fault for several goals. His positional sense and marking was poor. Awful is maybe a tad harsh, but defensively he wasn't very good at all. People only liked him because he was ok on the ball. I wouldn't rate him any higher than Whitbread or St Ledger and they're well down the pecking order.
Soar Fox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I don't think he was awful at all, he played 22 games for a side that finished 6th in the championship. I just don't think he was as good as people were making out. I'm grateful for the time he spent here, but I'm more than happy with the defenders we've got here now.
StanSP Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Happy with the current crop of defenders; I wouldn't change them right now at all. However, Keane was a good player for his age to slot straight in and make an impression right away. He played consistently well and got on the scoresheet a couple of times too. I've said on here before that he reminded me of Jack Hobbs and I think there's a bright future for Keane. I was happy with his contribution in his short time here.
LCCFox96 Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Whatever is said on Keane's performances he was a good character to have around the club. Hard working and professional and the bbc sport article where he thanked the fans for his welcome reception at the club was a class act from a youngster. Without meaning to overrate him he will be prem class within a few years.
MC Prussian Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Shay Given joins Middlesbrough on loan from Villa for one month: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25143739
Ric Flair Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Keane is a superb prospect but the way Liam Moore has progressed in recent months i'm not convinced there's much between them in current ability. I think Miquel is just as talented and then we've the Polish beast who can do no wrong in my eyes and neither can Big Wes. I hope he tucks Derby up with a few own goals.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 I personally think that Michael Keane was over-rated by quite a few of our fans. I always maintained that he's clearly a nice player. Tall, composed on the ball and certainly one for the future. But last season I think he showed up to be quite a weak centre-back, physically. He was easily out-muscled and lost out in quite a few aerial battles. I maintained at the time that the defence looked 'shaky' with Keane in it. Again, certainly one for the future. But I don't think his presence in the side helped our free-fall one little bit. Put it this way... I'm far more confident in our defence this season. I think Wasa is much better in that position, playing in the tough Championship.
