Flitcroft has been sacked by Barnsley.

Bit harsh, they always seems to sack managers when the going gets tough. Not sure what their expectations are tbh.

Having said that, Barnsley were shocking when they played us this season. Definitely didn't look the same side that smashed us at their place last season.

Barnsley have been through a few managers. Their best manager in recent seasons was Mark Robins who did alright with thrm, but fell out with the chairman or something.

Appleton might be in with a shout. Whatever happens, hope they get sorted and stay up.

Sean Dyche is booooring, I'm glad Nige doesn't moan too much.

The penalty was ridiculous but moaning about the corner just made him look a complete berk. It's his goalkeeper he needs to be having a word with, not the ref

Moaning about a corner ffs, how much luck have Burnley had?

Anyone who suggests that the Premiership is over-rated, look at Cardiff (at home) v Arsenal yesterday. It was men against boys, to be fair, with even the Cardiff fans (very sportingly) applauding Ramsay.

Arsenal are just one side who can do this to you.

The Premiership IMO, remains the toughest division in the world and should we go up, we must invest considerably to stay there.

But Col Arsenal are the best side in the country at the moment. People aren't suggesting promoted clubs are at their level. Competing with teams like Arsenal is not the necessity for Premiership survival.

Cardiff weren't an astonishingly good Championship side but they're holding their own without any massive signings. And they'll probably stay up IMO.

Sunderland on the other hand have spent money on Premiership journeymen and are absolutely dog poo.

I'm just using Arsenal as an example mate. Fair play, the best side at present.

However, anyone who thinks going to Newcastle, West Brom, Southampton, Spurs etc etc Ect would be anything less than a major challenge is just plain wrong.

Every week would be a tough game.. Some massively so. I'd be surprised if the three sides promoted last season don't finish in the bottom six. Maybe all relegated actually.

Agree with Kitchen Sink.

Cardiff know they're not going to match Arsenal, Manchester United et al. Their aim is to match and beat the likes of Fulham, Sunderland, Norwich etc. Our aim would be the same if we got promoted, the days of teams getting promoted and finishing in the top five or six are long gone. A top half finish and a cup run represent an outstanding first season in the Premier League these days.

I'm just watching Norwich now. Yes, they aren't doing well this season but you just look at their squad. They have some very very good players.

Leroy Fer, Hoolihan, Hooper, Redmond, to name but four. All would play in this current City side.

IMO.

There are no easy games in the Prem.

Some people keep mentioning Sunderland... They'll be fine.

The quality of the Prem per se, FAR exceeds that of the Championship.

I agree that their squad exceeds ours at the moment, but we have the nucleus of a good squad here.

Schmeichel, Morgan, Knockaert and potentially Drinkwater are all Premier League quality players who'd fit into a number of sides in the top tier very well. The Thais would back Pearson in the transfer market I'm sure, and he'd spend the money a lot more wisely than Sven did.

I agree the current squad would struggle in the Premier League but, realistically, it's very unlikely the same XI that started against Millwall would kick off against Manchester United in August 2014.

Completely agree Bilo...

I'm just taking issue with those who claim the Premiership is not 'all that'.

It's a superb standard, generally and the difference between the Prem and the Championship is vast. IMO.

I think the evidence of this is in the fact that bar a couple of exceptions, Swansea etc..., the teams coming up have to spend vast sums just to stay in the division! Never mind trying to get a settled mid-table spot
