Kitchandro Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I think the evidence of this is in the fact that bar a couple of exceptions, Swansea etc..., the teams coming up have to spend vast sums just to stay in the division! Never mind trying to get a settled mid-table spot Cardiff haven't, Norwich didn't, Southampton didn't, West Brom haven't really, Wigan never spent a lot. Actually, it tends to be the clubs who spend a load who under perform. Look at QPR - spent more than probably any other promoted club before them - they were the worst of the promoted sides and struggled for two seasons. Of course we'll have to spend money, but we don't have to break the bank just to survive.
Leicesterpool Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I actually want Forest and Derby to go up with us, we need a big derby.

Of course we'll have to spend money, but we don't have to break the bank just to survive. Cardiff have spent £32 million. Norwich certainly spent a fair chunk. West Brom not so much. Wigan I'm not sure. Southampton spent a lot as well (players like Gaston Ramirez, Jay Rodriguez, Yoshida, Clyne, Forren) You do have to spend a lot to stay up but sometimes doing too much gives you an unsettled squad. It's a tough one to balance out really.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 A little money spent well is better than a lot of money spent badly. This current team must have cost a fraction of what a typical Sven XI will have cost. I'd expect Pearson's spending policy to be more Swansea if we were promoted, players you've never heard of from Europe who turn out to be absolute gems. Let's not forget that Michu only cost £2m, a good scouting network such as ours can pay dividends.
chrishlcfc Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 Forest are the 3rd best team in the east midlands . Derby 2-0 up away at Wigan, there away form has been incredible this season.

Soar Fox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 How long can Owen Coyle stay in a job? In my opinion he's a poor manager. He did well at Burnley granted but I think he's been living off that promotion for the past few years. With a decent manager in charge Wigan could be challenging at the top with their current squad. Though playing in the Europa league certainly hasn't helped.
Tinman Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 and they still couldn't beat our reserves That one of the reasons we fooked nigel off
Stadt Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 Schteve is managing to win with Hovis at centreback which is an achievement in itself.
Koke Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 Derby are the highest scores in the entire league, 33 goals. Though they have conceded quite a lot too.
Corky Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 McClaren doing wonders at Derby. Board were fed up of Cloughie Jnr's excuses for mediocrity and appointed a man who can achieve more with that squad. Fair play to them for that.
Super_horns Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 Derby were probably the 2nd best side we've faced at the Vic (behind you) - not surprised to see them doing well. I notice our former players Eustace and Forsyth seem to be doing well enough. Guess they key for them will be keeping Hughes beyond January.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 He did well at Burnley granted but I think he's been living off that promotion for the past few years. That and Johan Elmander's purple patch for Bolton. Dining off that for a good few years now, toilet of a manager.
Guest shearfox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 McClaren doing wonders at Derby. I'm surprised to be honest, but I think he doesn't have full control of transfers which will benefit them, McClaren is a good coach who can make sh*t shine at times... just don't let him sign his own players
