bluesbrothers Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Just tweeted on the BBC website by Rob from Coventry: And a quick search on Google for "Leicester to Coventry distance" returns... So according to one of their own citizens, Coventry shouldn't give two flying fecks about us by default. Oh god... I'm posting shit like this? It must be preseason...
SemperEadem Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 It does not always come down to locality, look at Brighton and Palace to prove that.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 We didn't care about Coventry when we were both in the Championship. Now they're in League One with seemingly little chance of them returning any time soon, they're pretty much forgotten about. Aside from their fight to keep their soulless stadium, they're far too boring even to notice. Where did they even finish?
Spudulike Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 ... but how far is Freemen's Wharf from the Reeko ?? They'll be a lot closer when they are playing at Hinckley.
Fox92 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Liverpool and Manchester isn't exactly close. Brighton and London isn't close. But it depends on your personal opinion though.
yorkie1999 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 They'll be rivals with Northampton and Kettering soon when they move to rushden and diamonds ground.
bluesbrothers Posted 13 May 2013 Author Posted 13 May 2013 Nah, you're missing the point. This bloke from Coventry is basically saying that, unless you live 20 miles or less from another club, you can't be rivals. So that instantly nullifies their own one-sided hatred of us.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 That's just the distance between the two cities too. Their ground is so far out of Coventry I'm fairly sure their north stand is part of Hinckley.

I disagree the Cov game last season had more of derby feel to it...than Forest or Derby.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 I've really never seen Cov as a big derby, a little bit of bragging rights to be had, but I don't hate them as I do Forest, or dislike them as much as I do Derby. Mid 90s mentality, I think, from when meetings with Coventry were relatively rare.
Yojoe36 Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Coventry will be playing their home games in Nuneaton soon anyway.
Kitchandro Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 It's not pre-season, this Championship season hasn't technically ended yet To be fair I can see what the Cov bloke is saying, there's a difference between a local derby and a rivalry.
Finnaldo Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 They'll be a lot closer when they are playing at Hinckley. I pray to god they don't, I live about a 5 minutes walk away from the Hinckley ground. If they do, I'll have to go down with me torch and pitchfork and drive their 14 man squad and 5 fans back across the border.

MPH Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Can Man Utd v Man City be considered a rivalry when most Man Utd Fans live at least 40 miles outside of Manchester?
He's not bald Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Can Man Utd v Man City be considered a rivalry when most Man Utd Fans live at least 40 miles outside of Manchester? try 4 miles inside the M25!
Libertine Dream Posted 13 May 2013 Posted 13 May 2013 Being from around Hinckley area, I have the same attitude towards Forest that you have about Cov. Mind you Cov are that pathetic I couldn't care less about them either
Alexikokopops Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 Coventry is a lot nearer then 40miles Yes. About 14.2 miles nearer I'd say... And a quick search on Google for "Leicester to Coventry distance" returns...
ozleicester Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 They'll be rivals with Northampton and Kettering soon when they move to rushden and diamonds ground. Kettering are too big to worry about Coventry
