Official club statement required NOW please

One assumes the club's press office fed the Mockery their denial, which is as close to an official statement as you're getting.

We'll find out in the next few weeks if there was any weight in it.

As soon as we confirm a signing or two we'll know Nigel is staying and if this was related to Poyet at all then he's hardly likely to keep quiet for long.

Don't worry, apparently some people need a bit of tabloid nonsense to keep up their panic levels. They're the same folk who buy 20 cartons of milk before a storm. "We're all doomed!"

I've got my tin foil hat firmly on, i honestly think the reptilians had something to do with these rumors. Illuminati shiz!

Failed THREE times?

Won League One at the first time of asking when previous clubs have failed to do so (Leeds, Forest, Southampton to name a few).

Got in the play-offs after that promotion. Wasn't expected at all so I definitely would NOT call that a failure.

This is the first time he has perhaps failed at this club where promotion was the aim. I don't think it's ever been stated that automatic promotion was the aim (it perhaps would have been the better option, but overall I think any promotion would have sufficed). But that does not count as a separate failure to me.

I fail to see where you've counted up to 3 failures.

No prizes for coming second (or 9th and 6th for that matter) - we all know what the board want, and I doubt that being ex Champions of Division 3 is why they invested 100M into the club.

I think you might have gathered now, that it's not just me who thinks there should be a Statement.  The Moderators have had to close one (massively viewed) thread because of all the speculation on the Managers' job.  This needs to be cleared up - for now at least - and not just for the sake of FT Forum members !

No it doesn't.

He's staying, until we're told otherwise.

They need to OFFICIALLY say one of 4 things:-

1) that NP has gone, but no decision has been made on his replacement;

2) that NP has gone and the new Manager is ............ ? (the most unlikely !);

3) that the club will not be making any statement on the Managers' position at the present time (the most likely !); OR

4) that Nige WILL be staying until the start of next season.

:crylaugh: How does it help if they make a statement saying that they are not going to make a statement?

It's called, 'hedging their bets' or, 'delaying tactics' - and Politicians do it all the time.  It's even been known for Leicester City Boards to do it !

I would class walking out of a club as failure, and I suspect many other fans would.

Don't forget that Celtic's season doesn't end till 26th of this month.

Maybe the board have already done a deal with NL and an announcement will be made after the final?

That's unless Everton don't want him.

I know what it's called  -  but that's not what I asked.

You're right. It's you and the OP. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR LCFC???????

In direct answer to your question then, it doesn't help - other than get the people doing it, out of a tricky situation.  It's what people in charge, do.  In this case, it could allow the owners a (brief) respite, while they line someone up to replace Pearson.  Or, sound out everybody - and get rejected - before announcing the legendary 'Vote of Confidence in the present Manager' !

Surely making no statement saying Pearson has gone is the equivalent of saying he hasn't gone.

Well it's not actually come from the club.

I don't think it is actually that much to expect a statement from the club. If they have spoken to the mercury then why have that not put the source.

It is clear that Nigel is still the manager and that hasn't changed, but with all the speculation going round I'm sure that they have spoken Nige and assured him of his future and I don't see it being such a big thing to release a press statement saying the same thing.

Unless they are planning on sacking him, but want to wait and see how the next few weeks pan out first, see who is on the market and sound them out over a possible move. No point sacking NP to replace him with someone worse.

Come on this is getting silly..even if the club DID issue a statement saying his job is safe all us twats will say it is the dreaded vote of confidence and wait for the next rumour!!!

'No prizes for coming second'. Have I misunderstood that or does 2nd in the Championship not et your promotion, which is a pretty big prize??

As for the finish of 9th, you do realise he was picking up the pieces after Sven left, and barely had a full season to work with (he was appointed in November, I believe?).

As for the finish of 6th - that leads to a potential prize of promotion. As Pearson is still in the process of rebuilding and with a very young squad at his disposal, I do not class finishing 6th as a failure.

Are you also classing winning League One as a failure?? What is going on in your head? Would you still rather be in League One right now then lol ?

This and they've said dozens of times, on record, that they don't comment on speculation. This all started with posts to say he'd already gone, we know now this is bs and all of us should treat it and the source with the contempt it deserves.

Well Sven was sacked after 13 games, when 2 points off the play offs, with a newly assembled squad that was still trying to gell together.

Pearson after telling our supporters that we had delusions of Grandeur, (maybe he was just trying to prepare us for the forthcoming mediocrity he was going to bring with him) then proceeded to finish 4 points off the play offs after bringing back his trusty favourites back into the team.

Nice one Nige!
