Ross-Kemp Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 This is dull. Why do we persist with Rooney and Milner ?
marko Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I still struggle to believe Barcelona are going to spend circa €50 million on Neymar.
Finnegan Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I still struggle to believe Barcelona are going to spend circa €50 million on Neymar. He's raw but he's phenomenally gifted for his age. The prospect of him and Messi in the same side - if they actually open up and show willing to play a tad more dynamic and direct - is ludicrous.
Vacamion Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I still struggle to believe Barcelona are going to spend circa €50 million on Neymar. I'm struggling to believe that James Milner and Phil Jagielka are on the same pitch as Brazil. Leighton Baines, though, it's as if he has found his home...
AjcW Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Walcott and Glen Johnson... A right side to strike fear into the minds of ****ING NO ONE!!!!!
Finnegan Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 listening on 5live and Danny Mills sounds so depressed.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 This is dull. Why do we persist with Rooney and Milner ? Probably persist with Rooney because he's scored in 5 of his last 6 internationals. Probably stick with Milner because he'll run his nuts off for 90 minutes in stifling heat. This isn't the 90s. There's no Le Tissier character who's being left out for these guys. Apart from about 5 decent (and not currently world-beating) players there is nothing. The failure is systemic, there's nobody else.
HEGGSY Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Anyone see the teletextholidays advert on the electronic hoarding? "Desperate to get away, like Wayne? Visit www.teletextholidays.co.uk"

I don't dispute he's got raw ability, but he seems to lack a footballing brain. He always seems to want to do it all alone, or picks the wrong option.

Which is exactly why Barcelona is the best choice for him. Where better to have that beaten out of him? He's very young, we forget that.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Why was that third challenge by Hart not a penalty?!
Haydos Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Why was that third challenge by Hart not a penalty?! Not sure, nobody seemed to fussed about it

We need to have a calm acceptance that we are a middling nation at football, which, at best, might occasionally make it to the 1/4 final of a tournament. We are not better than Brazil. We are not even better than Montenegro. Sad but inevitable.

In the build up to this it baffles me that people have been calling Brazil crap as if they're about your level and you should be going out there to win. Neymar, Thiago Silva, Oscar, Dani Alves, Hulk, etc. These players are awesome, they'd stroll in to the England side.

Secondly, addressing Vacamion's post, the fact is that right now we are a middling side. But the players we had 5-10 years ago should have been challenging for major honours. That was not a collection of quarter- final standard players. We probably average a QF standard team, this one is some way below that, the one of 2003-9 should have been some way above that.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 England probably wish it had been called off. 0-0 but England look so poor it's untrue. Poorest side for 20 years?
Fox in the North Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 If it wasn't for hart this game would be over.
purpleronnie Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Brazil fans even show frustration when England fail to string a few passes together.

Every shit England side I can think of had some really talented players being misused, injured or not selected. It's only really Wilshere we're missing who'd improve this side.
Guesty Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 England probably wish it had been called off. 0-0 but England look so poor it's untrue. Poorest side for 20 years? I think the team that Carlton Palmer got 20 odd caps for under Graham Taylor takes that accolade - but this one ain't far off.

Worrying thing is I can't see it changing, I can't see any young English talent coming through, certainly not in numbers to make a good team.
