Academy striker Joe Dodoo has been rewarded for a fine season with Leicester City’s Under-18s and Under-21s by putting pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal with the Club.

The 17-year-old Nottingham-born forward has shone for the young Foxes this term, with his ability to operate effectively anywhere along the front line helping him earn a call-up to the England Under-18s squad for a friendly with Belgium in March.

The 2012/13 campaign has seen Dodoo help Trevor Peake’s Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round as well as playing a part in Steve Beaglehole’s Under-21s side’s march to the top of the Development League Two North – where he went on to score in the play-off semi-final against Cardiff at King Power Stadium.

Dodoo, who joined Leicester at the age of 11 before progressing through the Academy, also scooped the Players’ Player of the Year award as part of the Supporters Club awards this term.

We have got a fair amount of strikers coming through now; Dodoo, Panayiotou, Hopper and Blyth.

Got to be given an opportunity imo.

Why not in the League Cup/Fa Cup, or one or two league games now is the time, with FFP coming in times to promote players within our club set up imo.

I played against him for my secondary school. He was easily the best player on the pitch but people were doubting if he really was only 15 at the time. Looked about 20!

Must admit my first impression from looking at that pic is that he must be a Nigerian 17. Could easily pass for 23/24.

Really???? What happened to supporting young players, nobody knows how he will turn out but lets not put him down before his career has even started

It's gonna take a brave manager to give any of these young players a sustained chance. I don't think that's Pearson.

I'd really like a manager at the club who genuinely looked at the youth team and had the patience and the charisma to nurture one or two of these boys through. It's always quite exciting when one of your home grown breaks through. I remember when it happened with Heskey. Alas, I don't think Pearson seems too bothered. Could be wrong.

A stunningly negative and ill mannered comment!

But probably accurate.

We have an awful record development wise, and it's happened under almost all managers we've had for decades.
