Super_horns Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Bit of a shame for Bell that his fine innings will be over-shadowed. The Broad incident is like a dive in football - not sporting as such but most of the players would do it.

Diving is blatant cheating, Broad just acted on instinct he never planned it, it is like in Tennis no player calls the ball out themselves...
Super_horns Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Diving is blatant cheating, Broad just acted on instinct he never planned it, it is like in Tennis no player calls the ball out themselves... Fair point - was thinking more of would the Australian players wait for the decision and stand their ground.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 That's just ridiculous. Apart from when he saw it on the 700 inch jumbotron. He knew he was out, everybody knew he was out, except Erasmus.
Aus Fox Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I think Clarke is getting off lightly here, he made his two reviews on shockers one of the wasn't out in a million years... If he hasn't done that Australia could have reviewed and he would have been given out. Poor captaincy
David Guiza Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I think Clarke is getting off lightly here, he made his two reviews on shockers one of the wasn't out in a million years... If he hasn't done that Australia could have reviewed and he would have been given out. Poor captaincy Completely agree, the second(?) one that was at least a couple of inches off the stumps was a terrible call. How Haddin in particular could say that was worthy of a review I will never know; should they not have made that review this whole debacle would never have arose. Up to Bell and Broad to carry on, with added runs from the last 3 who haven't delivered recently to see off the innings with 50/70 runs and see it home tomorrow/Sunday. Bell has to be up there with Agar as key man during the test, huge knock today.
StanSP Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Thanks, if it isn't seen then I don't see why it is up to Broad to walk, it is the Umpire's fault been rubbish by the sounds of things. Because he knows he has hit it ?
buzzy Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Diving is blatant cheating, Broad just acted on instinct he never planned it, it is like in Tennis no player calls the ball out themselves... rubbish what broad has done is cheating . he knew he nicked and should have walked come to expect this from broad
marbelladave Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 It is simple. At this level you play to the umpires call, you do not pick and chose which decisions you accept and which you don't. Look at Trott, given an awful decision he had to go, which he did, showing his displeasure in the time honoured manner but no more, not ranting or bitching or throwing a hissy fit. He did exactly what he should do. Similarly the Agar stumping, everyone in the ground thought it was out but in the umpires opinion it was not, England were disappointed but had to accept the decision and get on with it, which they did. Some poor umpiring though.....
Guest MattP Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Can't believe the attention this has got. He's done what 95% of batsman in the World would do.
purpleronnie Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Can't believe the attention this has got. He's done what 95% of batsman in the World would do. Make that 99%.
purpleronnie Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 rubbish what broad has done is cheating . he knew he nicked and should have walked come to expect this from broad bollocks. There is no law that says a batsman must walk if he thinks he may be out
Guest Bilo Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Bollocks should he have walked. If the umpire has made a mistake, that's not Broad's problem.
Aus Fox Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 rubbish what broad has done is cheating . he knew he nicked and should have walked come to expect this from broad Ian Healy "the only time an Australian walks is when he runs out of petrol" Would Haddin call a batsman back if he was given out and he knew he hadn't nicked it?
Bobby Hundreds Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Gilchrist used to walk, and Ponting always used to call him a f&@king w%nker.
Voll Blau Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Can't believe Broad managed to keep a straight face.
Aus Fox Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Anyone think Broad should have reviewed that and stood his ground?
Aus Fox Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Is it just me or does James Pattinson appeal for absolutely everything no matter how far it's missing?
Bobby Hundreds Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 No doubt in my mind they would've reviewed that if they had any left. Awful appealing.
Ross-Kemp Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 375 all out then. I'm confident australlia won't hit 311.
Bert Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Never been done at Trent Bridge.Records are there to be broken.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 I reckon it will be close, hopefully Agar doesn't do what he did in the first innings Can see us winning this, would love to be there today!
