Dylan Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Third Umpire having an absolute shocker. Clear inside edge on that from Trott. Am I the only one who thought Trott's dismissal was plum? Nothing on hotspot (what they showed), no movement of ball, no sound on snicko?
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 No clear evidence that he didn't get bat on it. Side on hotspot isn't working, so I don't see how they can reverse the decision. Exactly what I thought. Given Not Out, you have to assume Dar has given that because of a bit of bat given it was plum dead out if not. No idea how you can overturn that when the side hot spot camera has malfunctioned and that's the one you need to overturn it. Am I the only one who thought Trott's dismissal was plum? Nothing on hotspot (what they showed), no movement of ball, no sound on snicko? Side camera on hot spot isn't working.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Least Botham and Gower are talking some sense, how can people not see the deflection there?
Swarles Barkley Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Just seen it. Do these thrid umpires not know the rules. They are there to overturn a decision IF its clear cut based on the evidence shown. If there is a glitch and it is NOT clear they cannot give it out. The stumping earlier was not clear so erasmus gave it not out. Why didnt he use the same logic and be consistent and give trott not out. What an idiot, but dont worry its only the ashes. disgraceful
ScouseFox Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 I'm in work so not watching but "side camera isn't working"?! In an ashes test? Isn't that a bit like having the World Cup final with cones for goalposts and just saying "forgot the nets boys sorry". Surely everything should be working in an Ashes test match?
Bert Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 The inconsistency is laughable. Doubt over Agar. Doubt over Trott. So obviously one is out and one isn't. Joke.
Corky Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Am I the only one who thought Trott's dismissal was plum? Nothing on hotspot (what they showed), no movement of ball, no sound on snicko? The only way the ball could've hit his pad from that angle was a deflection, was definitely not unaided or through swing. They gave the benefit of the doubt to Agar over the stumping, Trott should probably have had the same, especially if ALL the technology isn't available.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 We're sounding like whinging poms now. We are, but you are entitled to be when the umpires don't know the rules and can't enforce them properly.
Finnegan Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 There's a lot of moaning going on in here given you're going to win ten nil.
StanSP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Crazy how the HotSpot wasn't working because it was showing Root's dismissal. I blame Trott for getting out so quickly after Root's wicket
Swarles Barkley Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 There's a lot of moaning going on in here given you're going to win ten nil. 9-1, were gonna win 9-1...
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Pieterson and Cook starting to get on top here Best partnership we have if it gets going. Pitch looks perfect, need to see this off tonight two down then pile it on tomorrow.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 What a test match this is already. Imagine if there were no cricket: a lovely, ugly, tough, boring, exciting, unique thing. All of life in a mere five days
Bert Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 There's a lot of moaning going on in here given you're going to win ten nil. It's the England and Wales cricket board you know!
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 It's the England and Wales cricket board you know! In Auckland the England support was at least 10% Welsh and 5% Jocks. Quite a few of them follow now. Cardiff is interesting and I would tell anyone to go, it's 60-40% Welsh to English in the ground, almost surreal.
FoxyPV Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 WTF Australia?! quote name="SOCCERROO FOX" post="2661238" timestamp="1373544907"]Told you! Egg on my face
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 What a great addition to the commentary box Andrew Strauss is, absolute natural.
Corky Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 What a great addition to the commentary box Andrew Strauss is, absolute natural. So impressed with him. Has an advantage through knowing all the players personally (bar Root) yet talks with knowledge, not in cliches. Strauss and Holding: perfect commentary pairing.
I am Rod Hull Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 What a great addition to the commentary box Andrew Strauss is, absolute natural. Anyone that kicks Nick Knight out of the box gets a thumbs up from me

Strauss and Holding: perfect commentary pairing. One of the things that is so good about it, he can offer an insight into the players heads, talking earlier about who decides DRS in the team, who is the best at it etc, brilliant stuff.
Corky Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Anyone that kicks Nick Knight out of the box gets a thumbs up from me "I think England might be confident of winning from here", said Nick, after England posted 340 and Sri Lanka were 120-8.
