Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 "I think England might be confident of winning from here", said Nick, after England posted 340 and Sri Lanka were 120-8. He pulled off a classic once, trying to claim a match was still very much in the balance "if they can get in" with Worcestshire chasing 270 odd at 119-8. Bookies had them at about 500/1,
Guest Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Glenn McGrath has been a very good addition to the TMS team. Been very impressed
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 That 98 could be the best thing that happened to us. He'll have to keep playing now and whatever that freak innings was he isn't up to much as a spinner.
Bert Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Agree RE Strauss. Having captained most of the team he knows them inside out.
I am Rod Hull Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Cracking days play. I was gutted for Agar to get out on 98. Now hoping the Spec Savers blimp bursts in to flames and lands on 3rd umpire Erasmus...
Bobby Hundreds Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Great stuff from KP & Cook. Keep them in the field all day tomorrow too. A lead of 240 will win this.
AKCJ Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Pains me to say it, but McGrath actually came across as a very nice bloke today on the radio. I used to hate that bloke with a passion.
theessexfox Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Erasmus has had two shockers there. Well played Agar.
marko Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Shocking decisions by Erasmus which could cost us the match. We should have had an 80 or so run lead after 1st innings. But, hats off, Agar took advantage of the situation and looked like he was batting on a different pitch to everyone else. Saying that, he was helped by some shocking bowling by Finn in particular.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 The Ashes is taking it's toll on me in a big way, Had 3 hours kip the last 2 nights but boy has it been worth it. Been some proper test match cricket this. I think the forgotten man of yesterdays days play was Phil Hughes, He probably played his best Ashes innings and it could be his break thru Innings. Agar, what can you say got us back in the match and lifted the spirits of the Dressing room. Had a smile on his face the whole time even when he went out he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. Hopefully we are seeing a 15 year test player, still got some work to do obviously with the ball but plenty of potential there. Big first hour today, if we have to chase anything over 200 we are completly Travis Tucked. That 98 could be the best thing that happened to us. He'll have to keep playing now and whatever that freak innings was he isn't up to much as a spinner. Looks more dangerous than Lyon would, for a 19 year old he has some good drop and flight, his only going to improve. I hope they stick with him.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 The series down under kill me, literally going on 4 hours sleep and your like a zombie at work the next day. Agar was great, his interview in front of the sky cart was fantastic, every young sportsman should watch it, no cliches, just a big smile on his face and spoke from the heart, top lad. Agree with you he'll be a great player but I think this series might just be too early for him with the ball. We seemed to see him pretty easy and you can just wait for the odd bad ball with a player that age. Time to pile on today, this pitch looks as good as it's going to be and the weather is perfect.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Great news, my mate has secured me a ticket for Lords next Sat!
Corky Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Great news, my mate has secured me a ticket for Lords next Sat! Nick Knight?
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Nick Knight? Ironcially the two lads I'm going with one is called Nick and the other's surname is Knight

Been great tho you really find out who the proper cricket fans are day starts off with calls and text messages flying around from about 20 mates. After tea their is only 3 off us, all 3 of us have been knackered all day I did see that Agar interview was very impressed by him, love how he said he models his batting on his younger brother His pretty well educated as well, was a private school boy in Melbourne before moving to WA. Think it's great we have some young blokes in the team and we are trying to build a future with blokes like Agar, Starc, Patto Hughes and Smith
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Same over here, about 3 or 4 of us that manage to makle it through the night. Go young absolutely, can only get better, we finally did it after years of still calling up people like Tufnell at 30. Big wicket that, Pietersen was getting going. Cook looks solid as a rock now, need people to stay with him and make runs.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Time for Bell, Bairstow and Prior to make some runs now. Lead of 250 might be enough.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 We need another quick one to put some pressure on Prior. Anything over triple figures and i wiould consider us outsiders, don't have much faith in our batting line up. Think Clarke should be at 5 and not 4 made the bulk of his runs there.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 That was one of the worst attempted reviews really poor by Clarke and Haddin

If you are chasing 101 and you want to give me evens give me a shout.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I hope umpire Erasmus plays no further part in this series. We should have a 230 lead already by now.
