That's what i'm talking about, when Swann is fielding. Just like when he caught Agar out he celebrated like they had just taken Michael Clarkes wicket for a duck not a number 11 who had just smacked around 98. Was double fist pumping to the crowd acting like a knob.

A fistpump to the crowd is far different to giving a batsman a send off. It's here as well, he catches, fistpumps the crowd and then throws the ball in the air, if thats acting like a knob every cricketer in the World does it.

And anyway sending batsman off is nothing to do with why anyone hates Warner, it's his bogan antics and starting on young boys in bars that has got him that reputation.

I'd be annoyed at Bresnan or Pietersen if they got pissed and attacked someone like Steve Smith.

Come on Matty hardly took you for a soft c@ck and you know I generally rate most of your opinions but seriously mate give me a spell. Calling Root a young boy at 22 when Warner was himself only 26. Just cos the bloke can barely grow pubes doesn't mean he can't protect himself I know you and I have been to enough pubs and seen enough pub brawls to know there is never any smoke with out a fire......Surely he is older enough to protect himself or like his team mates man enough to cope some lip and I'm sure u experienced the same, every time I went out in local cricket I would cope a spray and we would give it back when it was our turn....just part of the game and if you can't cope it.....well umm I'm sure you get my point.

My view on Swann's retirement. I feel quite lucky to have not only seen Stoke's maiden test century but also Swanny's last game for England.

One of England's main tactics this past few years has been to use Swanny to hold an end up while we rotate our three seamers at the other end. The only blessing is that Stokes is showing promise with the ball (as much as any England bowler can after that second innings in Perth) as well as the bat so we can look into a five man attack, which at least reduces the need for the spinner to hold an end so much.

I'm looking for any positives, mind. Swann will be missed both on and off the pitch. Spinner is the one position where we haven't particularly got anyone coming through the ranks (unless we pick Kerrigan again.........) and Swann was genuinely World Class in his pomp.

Prior dropped, big game for Bairstow! Who would have thought we'd go into Boxing Day no Swan, no Trott and no Prior.

Over 90,000 there today and they've put us in.

Can't see how we can win, but here goes.

Come on England

Am I right in thinking that Carberry has fallen as soon as a bowler has tried right arm around the wicket against him? He fell to Rhino's first ball around in the first innings and Watson's first ball around in the second (I think). No idea if another bowler tried right arm around earlier in the innings though. I've no idea of this was a technical failing or merely a coincidence but it's one of the few things I've noticed other than the oppressive heat.

And once again Carberry falls when a bowler switches around the wicket. At least he survived one ball before being bowled by Watto.

No idea why we won the toss and bowled

Clarke said at the time it was a toss he wouldn't have minded losing. Clearly the conditions didn't help as much as he hoped (given Lyon came on in the 9th over) and yet we still contrived to balls it up. Not a great first day from an English perspective.

Final attendance 91092. New world record for a single day of test cricket.

Once again Melbourne proving it is the sporting capital of the world.

DARREN 'Boof' Lehmann is a tough task master as coach of the Australian cricket team.

He demands excellence and commitment and has been known to lock players - even the skipper - out of team meetings if they arrive a minute late.

But he is also a big believer in the players enjoying their cricket.

One of his first initiatives when he took over during this year's tour of England was to bring an esky on to the team bus and pass out a few cleansing beverages.

Another initiative has been to introduce a "joke of the day'' on days one, three and five of Test matches to lighten the mood among the group.

Thus far the task has fallen to players and staffers, but before the first day's play at the MCG, comedian Dave Hughes delivered the punchline to the assembled throng.

Lehmann sent a direct message to Hughes on Christmas Eve to line him up for the gig.

Hughes did not so much tell a joke as go around the group and rib them, in keeping with the "super sprays'' he has delivered to most of the AFL player groups this year.

Got to love Boof

Pietersen is an idiot sometimes. Could've got himself a ton and a nice total for us but instead tries slogging.

Embarrassing how scared we are of not just Johnson, but Harris. Fair play Johnson's bowling left arm bouncers at 90+, but you're Test cricketers! Man the fvck up.

122/6.

Might we finally be on bloody top?!

Don't worry there's still time for normal service to resume and fuck it up lads!

Was looking at betting on us to win this test aswell but poor value turned me away.

Get that wicket early it will be 38 degrees tomorrow keep them in the field all day and we might even set up a chance of a victory! Average 4th innings score at the MCG is less than 200 if we can get a 300 run lead we might get a win on the board.

Big day tomorrow
