hairy Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 A recent Ipsos MORI poll showed that public opinion in the UK is completely wrong on issues such as crime, social welfare and immigration. Take the test and find out how completely wrong you are. I scored 3/10 having had three points deducted for being far off the mark in those three questions. In all I got 6 right. http://ruletheweb.co.uk/misperception/'>http://ruletheweb.co.uk/misperception/ Kills a bit of time anyway
SystonFox Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 I got 1/10 but got a point deducted for being so badly wrong on one of my incorrect answers. 0/10 correct. I am an idiot
leicsmac Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Just goes to show how effective a job the mass media - both Left and Right wing - do at feeding lie- oh, I'm sorry, "spin", to the populace. And people say the media doesn't have influence.
Webbo Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 These are national averages though. It's easy to dismiss people as ignorant if these issues don't affect you but if you live in an area where 50% of your neighbours are on the dole with pregnant teenage daughters and sons who are always committing crime then you're going to have a different perspective.
Uncle Phil Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 4/10. I didn't get any massively wrong so I get to keep all 4 points.
Rincewind Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 I wanted to post something like this but I was afraid it would be perceived as 'too Guardian like' I'm scared now if I take the test I will fail miserably There may be some people score minus points. :)' Only 2/10. Got a lot of greens. Faile on one missed read the figure and missed the point in the figure. Not surprised at the answers though. I was trying to be open minded as well and still flopped.

True, but there's no excuse to not educate yourself on issues in a wider context. Access to information has never been easier. Ignorance is never justified, and IMO most people tend to only read/watch about stuff that directly affects them and satisfies their own existing views. Yes, I know I'm cyncial. Finding impartial reliable information is trickier, but the WWW is fantastic for looking at information from lots of different angles and making your own decision.
Alf Bentley Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 5/10 6 correct, 3 amber zeroes and a point deducted for going much too high on the foreign aid question....skinflints!
ADK Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Got 4/10, obviously if someone asked you about one of the topics you'd look it up first. Was surprised how high the immigrants number is. Considering they don't count 2nd, third generation...
MooseBreath Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 8/10 Underestimated the percentages of Muslims and overall immigrants.
MikeyT Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 2/10. Impressive even if I do say so myself Beat me by 2!
Rincewind Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 1 went too high on the jobseekers put 49 bn instead of 4.9
Charl91 Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 7/10. I thought we had less muslims and immigrants then we actually do. I'm not sure if this is meant to be a reassuring quiz, but it's certainly done the opposite for me!
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 7/10. I thought we had less muslims and immigrants then we actually do. I'm not sure if this is meant to be a reassuring quiz, but it's certainly done the opposite for me! I knew the figure was somewhere between 2-3%. If they can cause what they have done with that god help us when it's up there at 20-30%. Scarper!
