21st Century Fox Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 I renounce my atheism... there is a God!! The BBC has signed up the former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright to present its 606 radio phone-in football show and has confirmed that the veteran pundit Mark Lawrenson will have a "reduced role" on Match of the Day in the coming season. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/01/mark-lawrenson-match-of-the-day Still an underwhelming lineup bar Vialli.
oxford blue Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 I think I may have to give the 606 show a miss...
Vacamion Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Ah Lawro... Played for the Scousers. Chose to represent a foreign country at international level. Moustache wearer without irony. Mullet wearer without irony. Grumpy co-commentator. Pundit without insight. Terrible predictor on the BBC Sport website. What's not to like?
ousefox Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Genuinely my favourite pundit. He doesn't take anything too seriously, has a laugh while doing a good job, and knows a hell of a lot more about football than Alan ****ing Shearer. Disappointed. And Ian Wright- shit pundit
pSinatra Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Shame Hansen & Shearer have kept their jobs. Hansen, who cried like a baby when the BBC threatened to reduce the £1.5m he gets paid every year to say the exact same thing about everything.
Fox92 Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 I like Lawrenson. I love Match of the day but get bored of them talking too much. Even Brian Clough said that football is analysed to much, and back then wouldn't have been as bad as it is now! Literally might record so I have the ability to just skip the talking bit.
Stuliasz Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Genuinely my favourite pundit. He doesn't take anything too seriously, has a laugh while doing a good job, and knows a hell of a lot more about football than Alan ****ing Shearer. Disappointed. And Ian Wright- shit pundit When asked during the Confederations Cup what he thought of Paulinho in relation to his assets, drawbacks and potential for a transfer to Spurs at the time, the extent of Lawro's 'analysis' was "he's alright". Waste of TV licence money, I'd rather get insight than someone who is just there for a laugh, and no he's not doing a good job. Shearer is terrible but if Lawro knows more about football, he needs to show it because his analysis has been f**king woeful for the past few years.
whoareyaaa Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Don't mind ol Lawro better than that clown Shearer and I would rather listen to Lawro than Gus Poyet, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand who are clearly not fit to be pundits.
Corky Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 He never actually tips anyone to be relegated. It's always: West Ham- "They'll be fine", Norwich- "Should have enough", Villa- "Too good", QPR- "Harry effect will save them".
Kitchandro Posted 2 August 2013 Posted 2 August 2013 He's no worse than Shearer as a pundit, but his smug sarcastic misery guts attitude is really annoying. I can see Poyet's accent starting to grate on me. Hansen used to be great but he's just a miserable, senile old geezer now who just goes through the cliches. He's been spending too much time with Lawro.
StanSP Posted 2 August 2013 Posted 2 August 2013 Glad he's gone as a regular but some of the replacements aren't that better. Michael Owen isn't anything exciting, and I can't stand Gus Poyet. I'll wait to see how Vialli and Ferdinand are before commenting. Should have booted out Hansen and Shearer though. Yawn.
