Guest ttfn Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I won't support them if they go down to League 1, i've got some standards, sorry! You must be new to supporting Blues then.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I shudder to think what Knockaert's doing with his left arm.
Flyfox Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Only managed to catch the 2nd half, decent result and fair play to Moore and Vardy, getting better with each game maybe? What's up with Morgan?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Birmingham fan perspective here: Obviously disappointed. To have 53% possession in the first half, to be leading for 75 mins, missing two or three sitters to extend our lead before the Leicester equaliser. All smarts. Then when you factor in that a phantom penalty has been the difference between the sides, and the ref has buckled under screeching abuse from the terraces. It's a hard pill to swallow. I thought for a bunch of players deemed not good enough by Oldham and Oxford they committed themselves well against one of the most expensively assembled teams not just in this division, but in all the divisions. Hey ho, it's going to be a long season, but when we get bought out by the super billionaires we'll start to rebuild and start again. Wish Leicester all the best, with some more millions injected in January, and some more juicey ref decisions, who would bet against them going up automatic God bless and KRO! BORING.

Leicester_Numan Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Only up to page 2 at the moment but it's good to see some positivity and balanced views on here, another few games and the negativity may dissipate. Long way to go but we're getting points on the board and a base to build confidence and performance on. Long may it continue. Also makes a change to win with a shit ref in charge. Note to self, don't post when you're half pissed and you won't have to edit your posts
Weller in Tights Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Not the biggest Vardy fan last season, but to be honest I have been impressed in these opening games, not just with his effort level but also his speed (which I believe is one of the features he was lauded for when signed). Moore has been brilliant, I hope he can keep it up, as I do feel a lot of pressure is now being put on him (success brings expectation). I thought first half at Middlesborough we were awful, and we were poor against Leeds. I didn't get to Derby but according to my son we weren't great. So, football wise, we haven't been consistent. However, success breeds confidence, some teams get promotion because a good start to the season gives them the confidence and momentum to succeed. Come on City, 3 points at Charlton.
Durnerz Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 First 75 minutes were a right off, painful to watch against a piss poor Birmingham side there for the taking.Drinkwater was shocking first half as was Wood, good call to sub them, Dyer became prominent second half but Knockeart looked pants, heavy touch and erraticregularly giving the ball away.Having said that the goals were taken very very well and who am I to complain when we're beating teams by that scoreline despite playing below par.Its going to be a long old season for Birmingham. Also, highlight of my day was seeing a fez-topped Bernie wandering through the streets shouting at horrified parents and childen 'YER SHIT BURMING-UM, PISS OFF, ARRRGHHH'
Jordan Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Good win for the boys--I'm glad they refuse to let early setbacks keep them down. I hope the start of the season is really showing that out team has gotten tougher mentally. I've got a couple of questions: How much of Leicester's early season 2nd half turnarounds are due to good fitness? Pearson has had to make tactical substitutions which have had huge effects on the games, but do those of you that have watched all/most of the games think our players have had more energy in the closing stages of the game than their opponents? From what I gather, David Nugent seems like he's much more able to go 90 minutes this season than last year. Jamie Vardy also looks like he's in better shape, and I think everyone agrees he's a step quicker this season. I know Leicester looked sharper playing 4-4-2, but one of the problems with that formation is it requires a lot of running from the midfield--especially the 2 CMs. I'm sure Pearson will go back to 4-4-2 often this season, and he may well use it as a starting formation again, but I think he doesn't want to use it every week unless he has to. Leicester don't have that much cover in the middle of the park and will need to keep King/Drinkwater/James fit.
dedlock Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 A good win. Should have been 2 or 3-1 by half time. The subs made an initial impact but Brum started to get back into the game. Good, well taken goals.2-1flattered Brum. The penalty looked less of one than 2 earlier shouts. We have become accustomed to poor, inconsistent refs.
ADK Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I have to say I've been very impressed with Pearson so far this season. Using multiple formations depending on home/away and opposition and mixing it up depending how the match is going. Also today he made bold substitutions at half-time whereas last season he often would wait until 60 minutes or even later before making changes.

Southampton away, the guy didn't stop running, absolutely incredible.

There seems to be more flexibility.Football is now a 14 man game on the day.The whole 22 or so man squad will be needed over the season, with differing formations to meet what we are facing.
Jordan Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Nugents fitness and work rate has never been in question. Southampton away, the guy didn't stop running, absolutely incredible.I wouldn't question his work rate, but he's not always used as a 90-minute forward. That's not a knock on Nugent, as forwards are often substituted.Nugent has had a few injuries, including one this preseason, but he recovers well and I'm sure the clubs' fitness training regime and their physio staff have a lot to do with this.

iamafox Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 We deserved the win today, Birmingham offered very little attacking threat throughout the majority of the match and we created the better chances. But I'm not going to hide the fact that the overall performance needs to improve, on another day we would have lost.
MC Prussian Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I won't support them if they go down to League 1, i've got some standards, sorry! You mean, Aston Villa. Leicesterpool - you've made yourself a new friend there.
Leicesterpool Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Now that's what you call an entertaining match! end to end with some cracking goals, but that ref was unbelievable he may have given the penalty that i admit not to have seen as i left a couple of minutes before the end, but according to the radio it was the less convincing one out of our other appeals. On the team performance it was excellent, exciting performance all round you couldn't fault there first half performance whatsoever, Birmingham were just dead lucky to get a goal like that our defence had a solid game to be fair. On the booing in the first half, it did surprise me judging by our effort it just shows how some of our fans are hard to please. Anyway it was great to see our dominating attacking threat, if we could have just put our chances away we could have finished the score 6-2. On individuals performances: Vardy was my man of match followed by Moore they both but in a good shift, plus i must shout out for both Dyer and Knocky who came on and really had ago nice to see them back to there usual best. One negative comment has to be said is that once again Wood was awful again! at the moment i'd rather see young Tom Hopper on the pitch than him at the moment. This formation isn't doing him any favours so Tuesday night would be a perfect opportunity to try someone else upfront along with Vardy and Nugent, like i say young Hopper deserves a chance. Anyone agree?
marbelladave Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Well, well, well, 10 points from 12, who'd have thunk it…. First half was fairly typical Leicester, played reasonably well, a mix of some neat play but a lot of scrapping and pressure, not bad but not great either. When we play like that we struggle to score, plenty of possession and we look in reasonable control, but we do not make clear cut chances, the ball just falls for us or it doesn't, and our strike force are not good enough given the fleeting chances that come their way. Sure they will score some, but miss most, it's been like that for a while. We had little width, no guile and no pace other than from fulback, we played with some purpose and plenty of effort but no cutting edge either in midfield or up front, that we could not score came as no real surprise. Defensively we were ok despite the goal, but our 3 man midfield is too samey, they really do the work of 2 men so we are short elsewhere, up front Wood looks leaden and disinterested so we seemed a man short all over. Back to 4-4-2 after the break and there were signs that the form of early last season might return, the key of course being the largely free roles given to Dyer and Knockaert, makes all the difference even though Knockaert was still a way off his best. We were much better, won the half 3-1 and it really should have been 3-0, we were still celebrating Nugent's goal, dreadful defending.
MANFACE Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I was busy all day. I was drinking coffee when I checked sky sports, we were losing 0-1. Said to the missus, "I'd better start drinking tea to get some goals"..haha, 3 goals later.

Got changed in to my black away from last season and the rest is history...
Sharpe's Fox Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 A poor game for 70 mins, but Lloyd and Knockaert really made it come alive. The first half was frustrating. Every time the ball comes to Wood atm it just seems to bounce of him, the finishing was awful and to top it off Brum had one chance and a goal. For 30 mins in the second half it was the same, but then everything just went well for us and we moved the ball excellently especially in the wide areas. Two top finishes and a great peno. 3-2 flatters Brum immensely; they are simply a piss poor Championship side. Ref had a complete shocker today.
