Birmingham fan perspective here:

Obviously disappointed. To have 53% possession in the first half, to be leading for 75 mins, missing two or three sitters to extend our lead before the Leicester equaliser. All smarts.

Then when you factor in that a phantom penalty has been the difference between the sides, and the ref has buckled under screeching abuse from the terraces. It's a hard pill to swallow.

I thought for a bunch of players deemed not good enough by Oldham and Oxford they committed themselves well against one of the most expensively assembled teams not just in this division, but in all the divisions.

Hey ho, it's going to be a long season, but when we get bought out by the super billionaires we'll start to rebuild and start again.

Wish Leicester all the best, with some more millions injected in January, and some more juicey ref decisions, who would bet against them going up automatic

God bless and KRO!

you must've had a bad view mate, Leicester were by far the better team, had endless chances to score before your 1 effort of the first half went in and dominated the second half bar a ten minute spell when you finally had the ball in our half. Most of your possession was shuffling the ball across the back and the goalie.

As for the ref, we hardly got any decisions particularly in the second half and he let your crouchy centre half stand and hold schmeichel at every corner. We could've had two pennos before the last one. To be fair you were right in the corner so you didn't get the side on views that I got. Burke should've started and you need a quality centre forward btw!

This forum will be such a paradise for at least another seven days.

So relaxing for a change...

Thank you, Nigel Pearson - thank you, Leicester City FC!

But why didn't we start playing so well earlier? Seventy minutes of huffing and puffing and then the knot came loose...

I'll settle for 2nd for now. Great result.

Eh?

I thought we played really well the whole game.

I'm certainly agreeing with you about Drinkwater at present KF. When we signed him, I thought we'd got ourselves a real tidy midfielder. But James is actually much much better.

James first three games, started off pretty slow, but today he was back to his normal self. Quick on the ball, picking out passes and was getting stuck in.

People moan at me, but I will never rate Drinkwater, yes he can be good, but he is very inconsistent. And when he has a bad game, he sticks out like a sore thumb, because he is a very frustrating player to watch. He did some good things down the flanks today, but in the middle of the park, he was pretty useless, kept lumping the ball in the air, passing backwards as per usual, and making the odd awful pass. I just don't see what he brings to the team, that's why I think we could easily replace him with a more attacking minded midfielder, who has more skill about him, and can pass better. Defensively he doesn't do much either, James can do just about everything, while Andy King's defensive play has improved so so much.

It was all too nicey nice, with little end product in the final third. James and King tried to do things as did the strikers, but we couldn't make anything from it, Brum had like 9 men behind the ball, and it was frustrating. We struggled to unlock, and to me we lacked any urgency/creativity because of it. But after Vardy's goal we suddenly burst into life, and everyone came together as a team, and the passing and urgency was first class, hence why we ended up scoring 3 goals.

But first half there was very little, with most of our shots, ending up in the stands.

Drinkwater played well in the first half before the injury that resulted in him being subbed at half time. The only difference in the two halves was the quality of finishing. We had loads of chances to score in the first half.

At the end of the day. We were much better than them and deserved nothing less than 3 points.

What a load of bull.  According to the Brum commentators I was listening to it was a bad penalty shout(though the grainy footage posted on here suggests otherwise) BUT you can't say it was the ref's fault you lost without sounding like a complete pleb since(again, according to what I heard from the Brum-based commentators) you had the ref to thank for being in the damn game as long as you were.

So do one you sad, bitter twat.

Indeed, the first half we were far from good but once Dyer got on the game changed and we outplayed them.

Not pretty to watch, and very frustrating at times, but if this is how it needs to be to get promoted so be it.

I have my concerns about the form of a few, but if we keep getting the results they will have time to get some form.

I hope we are saving the complete performance for Wigan in a couple of weeks.

Keep it up boys.

Live in Newcastle so don't get a chance to get to the matches often but went today.

It was incredibly frustrating for the first 70 mins. I thought Birmingham were poor and negative but we found them hard to break down.

It didn't help when we lumped it in the air a fair bit as they had a giant centre half to gobble those up all day.

Wood was shocking.. I have a better first touch and his passing often went astray. Hopefully he will find his form soon but Vardy and Nugent are my first choice based on that performance.

The substitutions at half time were pleasing as it injected pace and creativity and for the first ten mins we had them under pressure but still can't convert any corners I see!

We then lost our way a little and Birmingham were slowly killing the game off... It didn't look like we were gonna score... Especially with the ref giving some interesting decisions!

At 70 mins I was thinking I had wasted £33 but....

Then Lloyd had a great run from inside our own half to the edge of thir box and squared it for Vardy to finish superbly. Knockaert's great backheel enabled nugent to find king to smash home and it was happy days.

Schlupp then showed fantastic skill before knocking it on to dyer to win the penalty which turned out to be the winning goal.

The goal celebrations were immense and very proud of the lads for showing a fighting spirit which has been absent in the past. If we play like we did in the last 20 mins then we will have a good chance of promotion this year.

A few more points...

We missed Morgan at the back... Every time whitbread had the ball I was uneasy even though I thought he did OK.

Liam Moore was my man of the match... He was everywhere and didn't put a foot wrong IMO.

Matty James was back to his usual effective self... Breaking up play and starting new attacks.

I like the Schlupp/Dyer partnership down the left hand side... Could tell the opposition players were terrified of their pace.

Vardy impressed... Keep it up son.

Thank you for reading!

We fully deserved that. We love to make it hard for ourselves but that last 15 minutes was pure entertainment.

That ref lol just wow. Embarrassing.

Thought his substitution was purely tactical. Should of been taken off anyway, but in the end bringing on Dyer and Knockaert helped us and ended up working. Second half we didn't miss Drinkwater and we didn't miss Wood.

Yes we had chances, but how many of them were clear cut in the first half, most of them were long range shots from outside the box.

Think the chance Drinkwater skyed over the bar was pretty clear cut.

I'd have fancied my chances with that.

I honestly think Brum might struggle to get out of League 1 next season.

Birmingham were absolute dogshit. The worst team I've seen this year. One shot, one goal in the first half.

they tried to pay a passing game bit could barely kick it straight. Cant see them staying up with that team.

We were patient and got what we deserved in the end. Bet Nugent didn't realise how important that peno would be!

Yeah and me, that really wound me up.

Luckly we don't look back on it and blame it, lucky lad Drinky.

No. It was a tactical change, as Pearson said himself. Drinkwater wasted a couple of good chances first half and, for an attacking midfielder, he has a tremendous tendency to lose possession / shoot into row z / fail to pick out the killer ball. From where I was, it was crucial that we took him off. And, lo and behold, it was the right thing to do.

It's laughable that they're claiming that the penalty decision cost them the game. They were 2-1 down at the time with about 90 seconds to go.

They then scored almost straight away from the restart, which wouldn't have had happened if we hadn't scored the penalty.

As for the penalty itself, at the time I thought it was a poor decision, but having watched it back it seems to me like the Brum player goes through Dyer to get the ball. Not as dubious as it originally seemed.
