Pretty close to what I would have gone for. Leaving Wood out would have been a difficult call. I think that the combination of Nugent and Vardy in this formation is a better way to go though. If things don't go our way though I can see both Knockaert and Wood both coming on to mix things up.

I wasn't calling him shit last week, I thought he was hit and miss. I don't think he's had one shit game this season so far.

On the other hand Nugent's been shit in almost every game.

Nothing to do with being reactionary, I would have started him ahead of Nugent after the Birmingham game.

I think Nige's thinking is that Nuge gives us better opportunities on the break which is what our formation's geared towards.  Plus(and I'm aware the following stats aren't entirely representative) Nuge has been directly involved in half of our league goals so far(1 goal, 2 assists) whereas Wood's 'only' provided the single assist so far in the league(though Nuge has had over an entire game's worth of extra playing time).

For all those saying Wood should start...

Think about it boys.

Carlisle are shite and Wood's hat-trick is no reflection of his form at Championship level.

Vardy has been playing really well at THIS level, thus should come straight back in.

Nige's team selection today IMO is spot on.

Let's hope it pays dividends.

Trying to poo in all 92 grounds. Not on the same day though.

I reckon if you had Maryland Chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner the day before it'd be possible.

Better no replacement up front than sub him after five minutes.

Then end up with 10 players cos we have used our subs.

I see your point but id personally of started Nugent incase she doesn't give birth but id have started Wood and Nugent. id rather let him do his bit then sub him if need be

Wood is probably unlucky to be on the bench but let's not kid ourselves. The Carlisle defence pretty much waved him through for his two open play goals, on Tuesday. He's rarely going to get that much space in the Championship.

Very true.

The real reason I'm at Fratton Park is that my nipper gets free tickrts as he plays left back for their foundation squad.

Sign him up Nige!!!!

Pros and cons but I think Knocky could do a job up front in a one off.

But he needed goals, he got them, he will gain confidence from it, and he should be allowed to try and see if he can do the same in the League.

But then again, Nugent also needs to get off the score sheet properly, he has only scored from the spot so far, plus I think he has worked better with Vardy so far.

Wood will more than likely come on though anyway.

We haven't beaten them in the last 9 games - due a win today, certainly one we should be winning if we want to stay near/at the top.
