Drinkwater Cupping Ears at Fans After Goal

No-one deserves abuse, regardless of what job they're in. If you want to boo, that's fine by me, if you want to criticise a player, go ahead - that's your right. But some of the things players are called by the so-called 'fans' in our crowd is disgraceful. These idiots wouldn't get away with doing it in real life - and I expect they wouldn't have the ****ing bollocks to do it either.

If anyone thinks they have the right to call player's '****ing useless *****' or any other vile, agressive abusive things, just because they've bought a ticket to the match, they're wrong - it's as simple as that.

It's like that video that the FA & Kick It Out released a while back about homophobia, but it applies to all forms of abuse IMO - you wouldn't do it in real life, so why the **** is it acceptable on the terraces?

I disagree, i think everyone should be open to abuse, it makes it easier not to discriminate.

Players taking abuse from the terraces has always taken place and it always will. More than that, the vast majority of fans have taken part in it.  Have you never shouted abuse at an opposition player or ref?

Exactly, and when they give it back, look what happens!! Fans claim to be the victim and get on their high horse and the same old rhetoric is bandied about. We pay his wages et al. You also pay for the up keep of the pitch, does that give you the right to lay a huge turd on it at half time as its looking a bit threadbare on the halfway line?

I cannot understand how you could see those numbers and come away with these conclusions.

Wouldn't you say some of those numbers I posted are worrisome? I'm hardly carrying Vichai and Top's water here.

I may not be as anti-debt as I assume you to be and I wouldn't want to restrict squad wages to just one source of income but I would agree with you in some degree that the club should spend more prudently. The club cannot throw good money after bad.

Ok we can talk percentages and ideals all day long, the point still remains and this applies to all clubs, except maybe man utd, without a local paying public, there is no club, therefore no players/jobs for players, all the other additions to the balance sheet, such as merchandise, hospitality, functions and the peanuts tv deal, only exist on the strength of a regular paying public of around 18k.

for that reason, I believe people have a right to an opinion, I do not expect ronaldo, bale, messi, hart etc to be at my club, I do however expect a decent standard, anyone who thinks that DD (not singling him out but as he seems to be the topic of debate) is good enough for Leicester City and that we couldn't do better, Fine, I happen to think, he is one dimensional, hardly ever passes forward/picks a pass, it's always sideways and slows the play down.

I may have stood a crowd and said FFS at him, but It's not like I am standing in his face slagging him off, I'm just offering an opinion on a player.

As for the money that pays his wages, ok so let's say it's KP that are paying his wages and we ignore any contribution the fans make, then I would worry for the future of our club, hopefully FFP will save us from the Thais in a way, because they are chasing a cash cow that doesn't exist at this level of the game, by alienating fans, constantly chasing exposure and a few grand for being on sky.

The money pot they want is the top flight and that horse may not quite have bolted, but due to 10 years outside the top flight we are miles behind the likes of even fulham for example, we would have to be a top flight club for a number of years, to stand any chance of wiping out the debts we owe.

I think you are missing the point you soppy shit. we are pissed off because he hasnt been abused in any significant way, yet his celebration makes it look like he has had some serious abuse. I dont think anyone here has admitted to much more than an exasperated ffs or a sigh. If he had done this celebration once i could understand but twice is sticking a middle finger up too every city fan. I hope he finds his place in the side under serious threat from hammond, it'll be karma for the overly sensitive twat.

Haha what a fool, you have just made yourself look like the "soppy, sensitive twat"

Bravo!!

Regardless of whether he has been 'abused' or not, he just needs to grow up and get on with the game. He's a footballer who is paid thousands each week, expect a bit of stick.

My God some of you are fragile little princesses.

I don't think it's that. It's not a massive issue, and I don't get mad over it, but I just feel he is doing this to his fans, the fans of the club. Without us there wouldn't even be a club, and we'll be at the club longer than he will be. I do think we have a right to give out stick, they are on thousands of pounds a week and fans work hard each day to then watch these players.

So get mad if he hurls abuse at the fans.  Cupping his ear is a harmless(and ambiguous) gesture so I see absolutely no reason why everyone's getting all het up over it.

Agreed. I find folks hypocrisy on here astounding.

He can cup his ****ing ears as much as he likes provided he carries on scoring

This is pretty much it.

It might not be the brainiest thing to do but in the grand scheme of things it's fairly harmless.

Drinkwater is a mere nobody, in terms of historical personnel, and not much in our current personnel, He reminds me of an old comic character called "Useless Eustace"

The muck we have to put up with today! It is just so sad.

A bit like you and your opinions ;-)

He needs to get himself on twitter. He would only need to have one good game or score a goal and he'd have hundreds of LCFC fans calling him a "legend" and telling him he's better than Messi.

Then he can sit there retweeting it all and start feeling good about himself.

Then he can have one bad game and get a huge amount of unfair and personal abuse from "fans."

No he's doing it to those who slag him down not his fans.

Not getting at you Fox92 but if you slag someone down and they give it back take it.

Unless your a little child at play school in which case don't give it in the first place.

Oh yeah, I do agree. Although I understand they are only human being's like us, they are also supposed to be model professionals.

Maybe anyone offended by it, next time he does it should do it back instead of cheering. In fact you could start of with a quick round of " Let's all do a Danny, Lets all do a Danny" before going quite and cupping your ears in his direction.

He's cupped his hand to his ear.

Not given it the bird or w4nkers sign.

And by cupping his hand to his ear he is saying can't here you moaning now.

So he's a professional and that makes it ok to abuse him.

Like to see some on here infront of 20k with 8k booing them.

Oh and the 8k supposed to be his fans. Nothing justifies what he gets or any player not even buying a ticket.

I've never heard him being booed by 8000 people before, apart from when the whole team is being booed. In fact I've never even heard him being especially singled out for abuse in the way that Wellens, Gallagher and Beckford were at times (and I'm not sure they could have too much of an argument). His performances are so utterly devoid of ambition in every aspect of his game that he rarely sets himself up for the sort of fall that might provoke a barracking from the fans. There is booing from time to time at City although it's no more frequent than you'd expect from a side that attracts decent size turnouts at lofty prices, but repeatedly fails to deliver on its stated aims. The silence is what bothers me, not the booing.

If this is a middle finger to the fans then don't even bother trying to defend it. Not only is it completely unwarranted (both in terms of the abuse he's received and the performances that he's come up with to counter it) but it's also hugely divisive at a time when we need more of a sense of unity and positivity about the club. And of course it's not professional - no more so than a teacher who gets abuse off his pupils abruptly telling them to 'go f- themselves' (as understandable as it may be at times).

The thing is, I'm not sure it is a middle finger to the fans. From what I've seen of him, he's unlikely to have the gumption to do such a thing, it's more likely that he's simply too daft to fully understand the implications of the gesture. So I'm not massively offended, I just put it in the same category as Trevor Benjamin's little dance routine, or that embarrassing stomping thing we got when Knockaert scored on TV last year. A bit silly at best.

Who cares about the economics. This is a woefully overpaid player, like all,who appears to have slighted fans.

Why not do as bluefox suggests or ,better still, chant"ear, ear"

That won't happen because we arn't footballers.

I get what you mean, I'm not debating against you. It's just that he's a footballer, and like all footballer's, they know what they are walking into. Getting booed is part and parcel of the game, even if it's your own fans (sadly).

I have never booed him personally, I just understand that the public work hard every day of the week to then spend their money on tickets and everything at the football (which with today's prices can be the same as a day out, let's be honest), so there is a standard expectation. Players earn 10k a week, which we will never do, and there is only one way that fans can show they are unhappy.

Players must understand that. That's why I love Nugent and Vardy because they give 100% every game which is all you want to see as a fan. Players play 90 minutes of football, all we ask for is to give the best even if we don't win, I mean, it's not as if they are piloting an aircraft or performing open heart surgery.
