Drinkwater Cupping Ears at Fans After Goal

Where have I said that?

You haven't, which is why I said 'suggested'. Maybe 'implied' would have been a better choice of word.

Thats a brilliant example of Chinese whispers!

Agreed, the lack of information coming out of the club leaves us with little else to go on.

I am not usually that interested in 'rumours' though the very similar situation that Marshall went through does make me wonder.

Are you suggesting that he is trying to engineer a move away by making himself unpopular?

If so why not ask for a transfer? Rumours abound that he does not get on with NFP and is generally unhappy, is the 'loyalty bonus' really that important?

For what it is worth, it would appear that such bonus's are far more trouble than they are worth.

Not saying it's true I don't know. But what does seem a common factor in pissed off players is NFP.

No I am not calling for his head and players are not bigger than the club.

But niether is NFP and if rumours are true this is gonna be his downfall.

Praps a reason why no contract rumours about him.

Bert can you shed any light as to whether he will be offered a new one.

If I had to guess id say that the lack of spending has less to do with ffp and more the fact we could be saving money for januarys new manager unless we are top and looking unstoppable.

Just speculation obviously

He knows exactly what he is doing.

I love it!!!

Just a small seemingly innocent sentence that could, or may not, mean so much!!!!!

Enigmatic!

There is a difference, and that is Drinkwater is playing or on the bench, Marshell was neither and Drinkwater was on the summer out list, and Drinkwater is not make a mess of his personal life, apart from that is the same !!!!

If there was a summer "out list" then could there be an alternative explanation for the hand cupping .....

"Hear those fans celebrating my goal NFP .... and you wanted rid of me huh??".

Could it be directed at NFP and not the fans?

He knows exactly what he is doing.

Are you sure? Having heard him speak and seen him play I find it hard to believe he's got the wherewithal to make such a decisive and clearly-communicated gesture. And I have seen that gesture intended in a less offensive manner in the past (Thierry Henry being an example).

Like I said, though, he receives very little personal abuse and the silence has always been a bigger problem than the booing at the KP (being neither more nor less than you'd expect from a relatively large, well-funded club that repeatedly fail to deliver on their stated aims). If the gesture IS intentional - and it would make next to no sense for a distinctly below-average player who gets virtually no stick from the fans to go and insult them - then he'd deserve everything he got. And, at a time when we need more of a sense of purpose and unity about the club and its fans, the divisive impact of his stupidity would be unforgivable.

Any excuse to get at Pearson eh? :P

Fair point I suppose but he consciously made the effort to turn round and face the fans at Middlesbrough. If it was for Pearson he would have just done it while walking away rather than directing it at the away end.

ohhhh my godddd are people still discussing drinkwater cupping his ears, bit of a dick maybe but we dont definitely know the meaning, hardly top thread worthy haha! could someone find out where he lives, knock for him and ask him why he does it so we can close this boringggg thread. this is what the international break leads to. drinkwater is decent.

Not getting at you but love the way our fans dismiss FFP.

We need to get real we don't have money and FFP is real.

We could stop this by getting someone to cut Dannys' ears off!

Or signed Vincent Van Gough (or something like that)

Some may say sven would have signed him thinking he was a dutch international or even did try to lol

:D Yeah and if Svend Svend Svend had signed him, the genius wouldn't have died in relative poverty!

You can't be certain its real until a club is punished for falling foul of it. I'm amazed it hasn't been challenged yet, it has to be deemed restriction of trade.

But was voted in by the clubs.

And not sure but I think there is a rule that stops club challenging football rules on trade.

Upheld by fifa.

I'm glad the first bit was tongue in cheek!!!!

I didn't see it to be fair so you've just put paid to my brief theory there!!!!!

International break combined with the least fan-friendly club in the football league with their monotonous silence means we have to analyse any old sh1te until we have another scrap of info to over analyse!!!!

its been voted in by the clubs so its part of the membership of the football league, a private club so it can't be challenged

If that is true then I guess a club wanting to challenge it could employ a third party, ie pfa or an agency to do so on behalf of players.

It was a fair suggestion, players have done it in the past so it was a possibility, you weren't to know if you hadn't seen it.

I think we should create and sing a danny drinkwater chant this saturday ( because i don't think he has one ) and check out his reaction to the fans? If he has got problems with the fans then perhaps he would'nt acknowledge the fans and just ignore them.

Also, i was there at both boro' and charlton and i really wasn't bothered about him cupping his ears towards us. He was playing for leicester city, he scored the equaliser against boro' and also pulled a goal back at charlton which in the end didn't account for anything points wise but he's putting the effort in and i think he's playing well.

cupping ears or not, i will carry on supporting him every game when he puts on that blue jersey!

Players also need to realise that if there not playing well then there will be moans from the fans that pay good money to see them. I just think we have some dillusional fans at times that moan about our players even though its clear to see there doing there all for the club.

Rant over!!

Fiar enough, i can't remember hearing it and if i did'nt hear it at the time it was sung i wouldn't of checked out his response to the fans.

Either way, he's playing well atm so the more support he gets, the less he will cup his ears when he scores!
