Dan Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 If we didn't qualify would Hodgson be sacked? Pretty sure they said he won't be. England managers job is a poisoned chalice. Not convinced by Hodgson but the lack of quality English managers is an embarrassment - Nigel Pearson is the 7th highest ranked English manager according to league tables if we win the World Cup in the next 20 years it'll be down to nothing short of a Chelsea-like miracle.

England are bad for picking players on reputation over performance but the inclusion of Lambert makes me think otherwise.

People all year have been calling for him to get an england cap. Also how can you pick players like Ashley Young whose really been off form for Man U, plus fat boy Rooney got called up and you can't say he's been that great recently (though of course he's out now)

Either way your point is still valid

Please tell me this is a wind up! Yes, Taylor was in 1994, McClaren in 2008. The minimum is to qualify, fail to do that I can't see how he could continue. I'm sure you make up these rumours. I've noticed he only seems to go to games which only involves the top four clubs! That's why we have a Southampton forward leading our line? Generally, our best players will be at the top clubs, it's no good just picking anyone for the sake of it.

He was decent enough against Chelsea as well, if that pass in the first half wasn't as strong then Van Persie would have scored.
