Clough Sacked

I'm sure plenty of managers could have done a better job in that time. Even Holloway did a better job under similar (maybe even more difficult) circumstances at Blackpool and you know what I think of him.

Are we saying that a manager should keep his job just because he's not got a lot to work with? He's had absoluetly no success there, he's clearly not a particularly good manager, because those managers get clubs like Derby challenging towards the top 6 even with a small budget. That's what seperates the wheat from the chaff.

He's an average manager at best and after 4 and a half years it's time for a change. He should have done better, even if you consider his squad as bargain basement he's really not picked up many bargains, because his team is utter shite. I can't think of one impressive signing he's made. In comparison, Pearson's picked up a few decent players for small money, even on frees. Even Sven got Nugent on a free.

No idea why people are defending him. Derby are a wank midtable side and Clough has had long enough to do something of note there.

I don't agree with this at all. Also you can't value a transfer purely on transfer fee. When a player is out of contract but in demand then it basically becomes a bidding war for their signature. Nugent is bound to be on a premiership wage for example. We'll see in the long run anyway.

I'm concerned they might get someone in who knows how to beat us regularly.

In fairness to Clough, his four defeats have been against top six sides. They've obviously got someone better lined up.

That is a concern. A Leicester win against Derby has been almost a forgone conclusion for years now. Would hate anything to upset that natural order

Ok let's just judge Clough's signings on quality then.

Yep, they're still shit.

I love these type of betting lists. Think of a couple of obvious ones and throw in the rest after looking at Wikipedia and reading SheepTalk or whatever forum they have.

Agreed. That coupon was on SkyBet withing 15 minutes of the announcement. As if the likes of Di Matteo would consider a mid table championship side with limited funds. McClaren currently 4/7 favourite, sure a Forest reject would go down well with the sheep fans.

My god Derby want to talk to McClaren, the perfect appointment, his work at Forest was fantastic and sadly came to an end.

If they do give Pulis the job that pic there makes him and whoever that is with him (I assume a Derby board member) look like a right cnut.

Stealing another managers job like that is a bit out of order and I hope he gets a ton of stick for it - especially from other managers and ex-pros.

The only ones that don't are probably the ones that have done something similar.

That bloke is Sam Rush chief executive of Derby, East Midlands Today say they have approached Mclaren, did Pulis turn them down then or was it just a coincidence?

I suppose Pulis turning up wearing a Forest tie never helped his cause

There's a conspiracy to be had there.

That picture was a master stroke by the bookie crew. They've made millions from people lumping on Pulis and the chief exec and Pulis himself have made 10 thousand grands each for posing for the pic.

So true, the bookies do it all the time but people are stupid. Anyone betting on Pulis deserves to lose everything they have  lol

Unless its a double bluff ofc  :D

The point is he's had to chop something like 30 million off the wage bill yet has still managemed to maintain Championship status.

I know there are those that will snipe at the bloke just because he was Derby Manager, but I saw him operate at Burton also and in my opinion he is one of a rare breed of Football Manager that is loyal, dedicated, gives youth a chance and gets more out of players than he should.

That Sam Rush looks and sounds like a proper tool, and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't saddle themselves with an expensive more high profile Manager that will waste their money on overrated tripe, and piss away all the ground work Clough has done in his time there.

When I saw them play us the other night I thought they were unlucky overall, were a neat organised tidy unit and would have been top half come the end of the season.

Anyone who thinks they should be challenging has obviously not followed the Derby situation that closely.

It's a shame really, they were going nowhere under Clough.

I take it back.
