Leicester Lass Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Derby given him the boot. Strange timing to say the least.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 About time maybe? They never seem to get anywhere
Amin Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Official Statement: Club announce Clough departure. Derby County have this evening announced that they have parted company with manager Nigel Clough with immediate effect. Clough has been in charge at the Rams since January 2009 and the club would like to place on record their thanks to him for his tireless efforts to bring stability to Derby County, and his hard work and dedication throughout his tenure. However, after much consideration, the board feel it is time to move Derby County forward to the next level, which will necessitate a comprehensive review of the club’s football operations. The ownership group remain steadfastly committed to the club and maintain their desire to compete at the top end of the SkyBet Championship this season. The search is well underway to identifying and appointing a successor, and further announcements will be made in due course. The club would also like to take this opportunity to wish Nigel Clough well for the future. Matt Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Can't say it's surprised me, he's done nothing there really. Hard job for him tbh though, he's always going to be in his dad's shadow.
Webbo Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Hmmm. I thought he'd got a job for life there.
Mark_w Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 It's a shame really, they were going nowhere under Clough.
Craig Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 That's what happens when you fail to win the Love-in Trophy.
BoneDog Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 They had a decent start aswell, 11 points from the first 7 games. Thought he was doing alright personally.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 What a weird decision. This season looked like the season where his patient squad building would have half a chance of paying off, why didn't they sack him two years ago when they really were dire? Maybe they're lining up whoever doesn't fancy the Sunderland gig?
pSinatra Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 A shame. He was taking them nowhere. Di Canio would be an excellent appointment
Guest Bilo Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 A shame. He was taking them nowhere. Di Canio would be an excellent appointment Could you imagine?
Craig Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 They all seem to think that Pulis is the man after being seen at the game today. Shame, they seemed to be playing some neat football now.this season.
katieakita Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Given a budget of about nothing and seemed to steady the ship there, after chip shop billy and jewell and his sorry assortment thought he had done ok. Hope they go for Keane or colin

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Never did much and dont particularly rate him but Derby are never going to go any where currently anyway.

Guesty Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 People say he was taking them nowhere, but he was given no money and reduced the wage bill by a half or something like that. Not sure what the board expect him to do under those circumstances. No manager of any ambition is going to takeover with that scenario (they probably already have someone lined up mind you).
Danizen Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Wasn't Tony Pulis at The City Ground, today? He might have been a guest of Forest, though.
Stadt Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Pulis, Mcleish, Warnock, Di Canio, Stuart Pearce any of those will do!
