Why hasn't he resigned yet?

Being Jewish he should know the offence caused by racism and behaving like Hitler does him no favours.

I'm organising a protest outside the FA headquarters with anti fascist action.

We've been backed by all the local trade union's and the solidarity for Palestine campaign. Billy Bragg is doing the music and the local mosque will be providing cakes.

You do realise Roy isn't a jew don't you?

There's going to be some sort of story/revalation that comes out days before our first game.

Always does.

The English media haha, absolutely embarrassing.

Roy Hodgson has apparently aimed a racist remark towards Andros Townsend, Townsend has come out and said he doesn't know what all the fuss is about and has taken no offence.

Not surprising though that this 'story' has come from the biggest bellend in journalism, Ollie Holt.

I cannot believe anyone still buys that crock of shite. It's scandalous.

Yes. That's part of the joke.

lol Apologies.

It's just that I'd noticed you've mentioned him being jewish before. After all, he's to judaism as what you are to Labour voting vegetarian

Sturridge is the alleged  rumour.

Sturridge saying it wouldn't surprise me either but hasn't the player apparently spoke to The Sun? If so then Daniel Sturridge certainly isn't the player who leaked it.

Fair point - the guy did report it to a Scottish sun reporter who maybe is trying to make more of this story than is needed.

I see the Anti racism guys have got involved...

This is Roy Hodgson who has worked in an umber of different countries and cultures of course for many years.

I doubt he'd make ant sort of offensive comment on purpose with intent.

lol Apart from I don't tour the north with a red rosette on?

He wouldn't be the first Liverpool player to sell his soul to the Sun would he?

Players who are under contract at Liverpool never speak to the Sun, what they do after their spell at Liverpool is obviously down to them and if they do they usually end their status with the Club.

Cheers guys, I actually don't even remember that.

Matt, I only found out the game finished 2-2 a couple of years later. I was that plastered I thought it was 1-1 after ET and then on to peno's. Completely forgot about Rui Costa and Lampards goals. Hahahahahaaa

However, Piara Powar, executive director of Football Against Racism in Europe (Fare), told the BBC that Hodgson had got it wrong.

"This was a silly phrase to use in a diverse workforce," said Powar.

"I think some players will see it as a reflection of the type of language still used by some coaches and some attitudes that still prevail."

:frantics:

Obviously Piara hasn't understood the story properly. Probably on purpose.

Campbell had goal's disallowed in 98 and 04, mate!

Rightly in France, wrongly in Portugal. Think it was Shearer giving Roa (?) some elbow in St. Etienne.

He didn't elbow him, his elbows were up for leverage, as were the keepers. There was nothing in it, a 6 of one mid air clash at worst.

Whatever it was, he clearly fouled the keeper coming for the ball.

On the Roy thing it's fairly important that we find out who the dressing room snitch is, we can't be going into World Cups with everyone pulling in th same direction if you have people like that prepared to leak things out of the dressing room.

Makes perfect sense to me. Simply saying 'Smalling you're fvcking useless pass the ball to Townsend'

That is kinda of how I interpret it, but it doesn't really seem like a clever thing to say, as you insult a young inexperienced right back,

Or you are saying sit back relax and let the Monkey do all the work, all you need to do is feed him, then you heap a load of responsibility on a young inexperienced winger.

I just can't see how a convoluted story in a limited time period to deliver an ambiguous message is better than saying "Chris hold your position, don't get caught out trying to create an overlap, get the ball to Andros."

They aren't the smartest bunch why confuse them with stories of Monkeys in space.

Reminds me of this guy I used to play poker with, went out Korea for the Argentina 1-0 game and when Sky Sports were interviewing fans after the game he had to ask what the score what again as he was so bladdered he had forgot an hour after.

The point he was trying to make is so obvious it's unbelievable. The only reason he said the joke is because he's 66 years old and is from a completely different way of thinking to most of these modern footballers who have no clue about the real world.

The only reason people are even discussing the fact it could be racist is because the joke involves a monkey, if you changed it to any other animal the meaning of the joke would be the same but the anti-life brigade would have nothing to shout about.

A player has probably mentioned to a friend/family member that Hodgson told a strange story which referred to Townsend as a monkey and they have gone to the press. I'd be suprised if a player has gone to the press directly over this.

Absolute non-story but the journalist has got exactly what he wanted.
