Bert Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 So, it's coming to the time of year that some people love and some people hate. The TV will be soon full of adverts, and it's time to start thinking about gift ideas for family and friends. Personally, I love Christmas. Everyone just seems that bit happier, there's plenty of football on, family get togethers, good food and gifts. What does everyone have planned for this Christmas?
Alexikokopops Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I'm off to Australia for three weeks to see some relatives and watch the cricket (Perth and Melbourne tests). I'm sure no one is going to be playing violins for me but I'm going to really miss Christmas here!
Guest MattP Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I absolutely love Christmas as well. Would like to be in Australia but can't afford it so will be spending time with family and friends, eating a lot, drinking even more. I don't really want presents from people anymore though, I often don't even open them until 3/4 days after. I'm usually in a right mess around New Years Eve, 27th is my birthday so from the 23rd is onwards to Jan 2nd it's pretty much non stop drunken sessions.
bovril Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Really looking forward to it, first Christmas as an uncle!
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I'm working Christmas week, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I wouldn't be surprised if Christmas Eve is spent at the Clarendon, as usual. I love Christmas time and always have. I don't like Snow though. It's ok when you're off work but if you're at work the roads become a pain.
Guest Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I'm very pleased to have Christmas AND New Year off work this year (without having to take leave either!) so I intend on enjoying it in a big way. Will be back in Leicester catching up with family and friends, enjoying a few beers and generally just kicking back and relaxing. I love Christmas When I'm not at work! Although to be fair I do have some good mates at work who will always put on a bit of a do for those of us stuck in Manchester who can't be with family so it's still pretty decent
StanSP Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Not sure. Planning to go TopGolf to celebrate my birthday. No doubt will be asked to work one of Xmas Eve/Boxing Day! One pet-peeve I have about Christmas is the early airplay of Christmas music/songs on the radio. At one of my places at work, it won't be long before we have the Christmas playlist on the stereo!
Fox92 Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I love Christmas as well. I'll be at home, as usual, that's the way I like it. ... I ask this every year, but when can we start playing Christmas songs?

I agree. Don't think Christmas songs should be aired until December, nor should a Christmas tree go up before December. I know some who has their tree up already. It's never too early to buy presents though, purchased my first one August 31st!

Kitchandro Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Looking forward to it, I've got a couple of weeks off work and I love mince pies.
goose2010 Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Do love Christmas and new year, no idea what to do for new year though as was in Vegas last year, tempted to take the misses to London for the fireworks over the Thames (always looks good on the news) and maybe a cheeky treat of Millwall away on New Years Day. This is my first Christmas with my new misses as well and have no idea what to get her. I fully expect a lot of comedy answers but in all seriousness any one got any ideas?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Two Xmas days again.Spend five days with my wife, and return to my partner on Boxing day, for more pressy opening. Bloody expensive though.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 The Christmas period is fantastic. Find it's a bit dull and boring after 27th onwards as the buzz dies down completely but the build-up is great. Should be having the 14 Dec-02 Jan off this year too so It'll be a really long, enjoyable holiday. I love the two weeks before. Xmas decs go up, everyone at work looking forward to the 10 days we have off, and the buzz walking around the shopping centres and supermarkets is great. Last year driving home from work after finishing for Xmas I stopped in Sainsbury's just to watch people do their big Xmas shop (this was the 21st Dec and yes this is sad). There was something about the atmosphere, people piling their trollies, fighting for aisle space, that marked it out from the rest of the year. I also love driving on Christmas day, the deserted roads emphasise how everyone really does stop for the day (except those who work of course!) No other time of the year will the roads be so empty and streets be so deserted; it's great. This year especially there's a good set of fixtures for Leicester too in the build-up and after Christmas. Christmas is the best, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 First half of the day at my parents, second half with the in laws, I'm looking forward to this Christmas more than any because it's my first one being a dad, so I get to experience a ten month old playing with wrapping paper and ignoring his presents!!
Nick Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Two Xmas days again.Spend five days with my wife, and return to my partner on Boxing day, for more pressy opening. Bloody expensive though. Don't your wife and gay partner get on?
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 First Christmas as a Dad this year, which'll be nice, on the other hand will probably lighten the amount of wonton drinking I do. It is certainly a great time of year however as others have said as you get towards the 28th you do start to realize the miserableness that is January is just around the corner.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Don't your wife and gay partner get on? My partner is female. I would rather be dead than gay.
Unabomber Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Don't your wife and gay partner get on? My partner is female. I would rather be dead than gay. Great banter.
Nick Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 My partner is female. I would rather be dead than gay. You should try being a bit gay - just for Christmas as an experimental treat maybe?
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 You should try being a bit gay - just for Christmas as an experimental treat maybe? Or a bit dead that would work for me.
Nick Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Or a bit dead that would work for me. I think the homophobia could be coaxed out of him with some gentle man-love hands on experience. Send round TBJS, I say.
Bert Posted 6 November 2013 Author Posted 6 November 2013 Yeah trees and lights go up in December. Ha, what did you buy back then?! We were in London early, Pre Charlton so we were going round the shops. Found a Hugo Boss aftershave and shower gel for £18! Bargain.

Pj's, Perfume, just stuff like that? My missus is so hard to buy for, so I just have to bite the bullet and pray she likes it.
Guest Call_Me_Maybury Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 The only good thing about Christmas is going to the pub most days and the Football fixtures.
