dmayne7 Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Another one for the imfamous 'LCFC, I'm a good player and got potential to get better but actually when I join LCFC I'll get worse' graveyard.
sphericalfox Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Waghorn can take set-pieces well and on form can look threatening (around November/ December last season). But if Pearson feels we've got better options now then it's best to let him play regularly elsewhere. huh? I must have missed that Wagster.
dmayne7 Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 huh? I must have missed that Wagster. Must have done. His corners and indirect free kicks last season were fantastic.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Shame. I must be one of the only ones maybe who thinks he still has something to offer. At present, for example I'd stop Nugent and play Wood/Waghorn alongside Vardy. I don't think Waghorn is a 'natural finisher' but is strong, holds the ball up well and brings others into play. I'd keep him and, at present, probably play him.

I certainly rate him above Schlupp in the forward position and he would offer a lot more than Nugent has been doing recently. I can see him being sold in January though. He's only got a few months left on his contract and I doubt he'll get a new one, so it might be a case of getting whatever we can for him.
Lionheart Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 As much as I quite like Waggy I think he hasn't reached the potential we thought he would,I now think let him go and get some money back.

Happy Fox Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Hear, Hear. Waghorn goes underrated and slagged off by everyone whilst Nugent gets the love because he's a "big name". Not really it just the fact that he is far better striker than Waghorn will ever be.
LCFC FOX Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Hear, Hear. Waghorn goes underrated and slagged off by everyone whilst Nugent gets the love because he's a "big name". as much as I disagree with most of the stuff you say I have to agree here
GingerrrFox Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Not really it just the fact that he is far better striker than Waghorn will ever be. Well at the minute he couldn't hit a barn door and still gets the love. Waghorn was top drawer when he got a run in the team last season.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Hear, Hear. Waghorn goes underrated and slagged off by everyone whilst Nugent gets the love because he's a "big name". Completely agree, while Waggy hasn't quite had the magic he had for us on loan, I think the roots of that is down to him getting played out of position.
Happy Fox Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Well at the minute he couldn't hit a barn door and still gets the love. Waghorn was top drawer when he got a run in the team last season. Waghorn continually hits the barn door though! how many goals did he muster when in form? Not many I don't understand this adulation for Waghorn he isn't good enough and never will be a waste of £3m spent.

MGLCFC Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 I've been banging this drum for ages. He has skills which no other striker we have has, ie coming deep and holding the ball up Doesn't GTF do this? And whilst I'm not suggesting GTF is a better option than Waggy, surely NP wouldn't need two similar players. Also Waggy will want to be playing regularly at his age, something we can't guarantee, whilst GTF may well be happy with a bit part role and weigh up his options at the end of the season.
Mark_w Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Almost a whole page of a 'Waghorn's leaving' topic without one 'Mark_w must be suicidal' post. Kingfox must be busy tonight.
Corky Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 huh? I must have missed that Wagster. We actually looked dangerous from set-pieces when Waghorn was taking them and in-form. Knockaert is currently doing similar but I'd say free-kicks and corners were Waghorn's strengths.
StanSP Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 I'd rather have a striker like Nugent in the team than a striker like Waghorn who is only good at 'free-kicks and corners'. How many free-kicks has Waghorn actually scored?

How many free-kicks has Waghorn actually scored? Free kicks don't count. The only goals we count round here now have to be mazy runs from your own box that end in a little chip over the keeper

StanSP Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 So you're more of a penalty man than a free-kick man. Interesting. Nugent's done more this season than Waghorn would ever have done. I'll ask the question again - how many free-kicks did Waghorn ever score? Also, why did Waghorn barely get a look in here? Because we had better strikers. Free kicks don't count. The only goals we count round here now have to be mazy runs from your own box that end in a little chip over the keeper

How many free-kicks has Waghorn actually scored? I'd rather have Nugent in the team, but when Waghorn was confident he was offering good set-pieces. He's fourth choice behind Wood, Vardy and Nugent, but he's not useless and can have good spells. However, that's not enough for us now, we need better consistency. If he's finding that at Millwall he could come back or go elsewhere for a decent sum hopefully.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 I feel sorry for him. Good guy and could possibly offer something upfront, particularly with nugent looking slow ATM. Still at 4th choice striker he is a player we could only afford to keep if we were healthy financially which our wages apparently are not. If only he could have recreated his loan spell form we would have quite a player on our hands. But either way ----> in form nugent > in form waggy.
GingerrrFox Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 I'd rather have Waggy than Nugent playing in our side at this moment in time.
Mark_w Posted 14 November 2013 Posted 14 November 2013 Nugent's done more this season than Waghorn would ever have done. Nugent's scored two goals from open play, Waghorn's scored two goals from open play in a much worse Millwall side. The only reason that's true is because Waghorn doesn't take penalties and I'd be shocked if we can't find more than one player in our side capable of taking a penalty.

He's also done it in less than half the amount of games, in, as you say an absolute piss poor side.
