Lionheart Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Who if any of our current players would have got in any of our sides under Martin O'Neil? Knockheart and possibly Konchesky for me.
Jimmy Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 apart from those already mentioned Morgan, Wasyl and De Laet of last season
ADK Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 I think most of them would have got into our playoff promotion team. The 2nd tier has improved a lot since then imo. As for the later prem sides, it's too early to tell.
gazfox9 Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Andy King. MON loved bringing the youngsters through the system. Remember Stuart Campbell, Stuart Wilson ans Stefan Oakes to name a few.
Lionheart Posted 17 November 2013 Author Posted 17 November 2013 Would we want Walshy & Elliott at centre backs now?
bovril Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Nugent, Lloyd, Moore? Nugent has proved he's not really Prem level. Moore could be there one day but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Dyer in a top ten Prem team?!?!?
Bayfox Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Not sure who but you could make one hell of a 25 man squad from the 2 eras. I think if you look at what the mon side achieved but then added someone like knocky into the mix, had kasper as back up to flowers/keller. Not that I'm knocking peggy. wes in the mix with what was some decent centre halves. And I reckon nugents workrate for covering the donkey work that heskey did to privide for claridge and cottee.

Dyer in a top ten Prem team?!?!? We never really had stand out strikers under oneil though. It's just players played at a different level for him
bovril Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 We never really had stand out strikers under oneil though. It's just players played at a different level for him Claridge was top English-born goal scorer in the Premiership in 96/97. Heskey, Cottee, Collymore? I really don't think Nugent is anywhere near them.
Soup Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Andy King. MON loved bringing the youngsters through the system. Remember Stuart Campbell, Stuart Wilson ans Stefan Oakes to name a few.Your havin a laugh. What is it with this Andy King Shit.
GingerrrFox Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Drinkwater would have got in alongside Lennon and Izzet. In a 3-5-2.
Guest ttfn Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Drinkwater would have got in alongside Lennon and Izzet. In a 3-5-2. Savage was just as good on the ball as Drinkwater and battled like a lion too. The only three that might have stood a chance in my view are Schmeichel, Morgan and Nugent
bovril Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Drinkwater would have got in alongside Lennon and Izzet. In a 3-5-2. I hate to be Mr Contraire in this thread but again, I doubt it. Gary Parker was one of the finest ball players I've ever seen at Leicester and Savage was an irreplaceable part of a team that won the League Cup and finished 8th in the Premiership.
Bayfox Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Drinkwater. Really he's gone up in the world since last season and the start to this. I'd still take king or james over him. Granted dd maybe more in the parker mould but thate the only thing that would get him anywhere near that midfield.
Jimmy Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Drinkwater would have got in alongside Lennon and Izzet. In a 3-5-2. Drinkwater would have been used in the way Muzzy was so would never have gotten a kick
Deucalion Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Like the thread comparing managers, this thread is trying to compare a second tier team with a Premier League one. It is only fair to compare with the team O'Neill got promoted. If we are promoted to the PL, then we can start comparing with our top ten PL teams.
Soup Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Not one player now would be in that side.End of.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 De Laet may be better than Impey/Sinclair, other than that no chance!
Bayfox Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 De Laet may be better than Impey/Sinclair, other than that no chance! Take that back......... frank was a goal machine!!!
