"January signings a possibility" - NP

Kevin Phillips scores goals he will score goals no brainer far better than GTF coming off the bench.

Not for me,the guy is pushing 41 you have to think can he still do it.

If he came to Leicester, my Dad would probably show his technique on how to wank.

As he will probably have a wank if Phillips wore a Leicester shirt.

What a weird thing to say, even for you.

Ridiculous that people are writing Taylor-Fletcher off. He's looked a pretty decent footballer in the time I've seen him for us so far.

To be fair he's always been a quality goal poacher but that ship has sailed.

Our attacking options on form are as good as anyones in this league. It's about time we went down the route of trying to make the most out of that rather than trying to sign someone else. If we can get Wood on form then we will be promoted.

I don't understand the little fan club Kevin Phillips has on this forum.

Considering the amount of times he's been available when we've needed a striker and he's never signed for us, think it's safe to say he doesn't really want to play for us

Or it could be that we've never gone for him.

Wba   promotion

Birmingham promotion

Blackpool   promotion

Palace   promotion

That record's not just coincidence.

It's the year 3417. All that is left is dust. The world ended centuries ago.

And yet... a faint flicker of life. GOAL: Kevin Phillips (90+3)

lol

Best post you've made.

Look at the bigger picture Dan.

GTF isn't a bad footballer. But he's slow. Our success this season has been built upon pace.

Although Nugent has been crap in front of goal this season, he's deceptively quick.

If we started a game, for example, with GTF and Wood as our strikers, we would play a completely different game.. And not as effective IMO.

We need to continue soaking up pressure...and then hit quickly. GTF will not give us this option.

This is why I wouldn't sign Phillips now either.

This is a bit harsh on GTF.  He played extremely well against Watford and his hold up and through ball allowed Lloyd to score the third. Pace is all well and good but so is experience, ball retention and control.  You need someone to pass the ball for the pacey boys to run on to.  Your penultimate sentence is completely disproven by the third goal against Watford.  We soaked up pace, cleared the ball to the player it stuck to and he played a sublime ball through for Lloyd.  He's done this more than once.  Hitting quickly requires the ability to play a killer pass and through ball.  Look at Ronaldo's goals against Sweden.  Yes, pace but also amazing passes too.

Taylor-Fletcher is the best striker we've got when it comes to holding the ball up. He's the ideal forward to bring on when we're closing out a game - he does a job that he'll be required to do.

There's nothing wrong with our forwards as individuals - it's our failure to get the best form. Chris Wood did not turn shit overnight, if we can get that bloke scoring like he did at Millwall, we will go up, it's as simple as that for me.

The last game against Forest. Two nil down, with what, 20 mins to go? Pearson brings on GTF. Like Kane last year, my first thought was, this bloke ain't gonna get us back into this game. And so it proved. We could have been playing for hours and not scored.

That's what I mean.

An impact sub might need to be used in two ways. When seeing a game out, ok bring on GTF. When chasing a game... Nah, he's not going to be the answer. Not consistently enough anyway.

Agree about GTF. Deffo not the man for chasing a game.

I'm not sure its a good idea to bring another striker in for the rare occassion when the 5 strike options we have aren't enough.

I said closing out a game, not chasing one. I agree that he's quite limited but he'll have a role to play this season, he's the sort of bloke who can help us turn a 2-0 into a 4-0, if you get me. Dyer's goal at Watford is exactly what he's here to do - held up the play before releasing him through on goal due to their higher line. We'll score a lot of goals because of that.

Pearson's subs that game in general baffled me to be honest and made me think if we need a single signing, then it's someone to replace Marshall - and by replace Marshall, I mean do the things that Marshall should've done. Marshall wasn't a bad footballer but in the majority of games he was anonymous. He went on that goalscoring run when we signed him, but overall he was quiet and would struggle to make any impact.

They're real long shots and I guess both will be loaned out to Premier League sides, but I'm talking of someone like Zaha or Sterling - although if we brought either of those in I think they'd be recalled pretty sharpish if they weren't starting games. We need a natural winger who can play on either side, come on and make an impact. There's a lad at Mansfield who's meant to be highly rated and he could fit the bill, never know.
