... and gave four to six stupid points away at Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday.

The team was really up for the game... for about 60 minutes. The first half was great and so were the last ten, fifteen minutes.

In between, it was a bad show by players very slowly reacting to having conceded an early equalizer in the second half.

The next two weeks will be very, very interesting.

City did well - the first half was typical of how we can open up teams just the finishing again off the mark.  When Taylor-Fletcher came on I thought his positional sense in the box was good and he will put the ball away .

Schlupp too looked sharp and perhaps a game on Tuesday hopefully at LB for him.  Our passing , ball control and pace was all good today.

Wing play was good but where was the centre forward just stops and fails to run into goal scoring positions.

I was pleased that we came back so strongly after the past two losses.

Not many, the point was to be at our best we need to, and that's why we are inconsistent.

Very frustrated.

 

We dominated most of the game as usual, and as usual we lack a ruthless streak to get us the 4 or 5 goals our general play warranted.

 

If you don't put the ball in the back of the net you can't complain when you drop points. It's an area that needs to be addressed.

 

Piss poor goal to concede but the opposition will always get a chance or two. The real problem is that we should have been out of sight before then.

 

Knockaert and Dyer both played very well for an hour but drifted off. Drinkwater tried to create and did so at times but he can't be blamed for us not creating enough. James drifted in and out, good at times but invisible at others. The defence did ok for a while but looked shaky second half.

 

Vardy good apart from his finishing. Nugent crap apart from his penalty.

 

Today we did have chances that we missed, but  more often we had very good openings which were spoiled by a poor ball, a wrong decision, a reluctance to shoot, etc. I think the strikers need to make more of such openings. There were a lot of instances where a half chance should have been turned into a goal. We need to kill teams off.

I was surprised that Kingy didn't get a run out. He carries a bigger goal threat than the other sub's that came on. Whilst Drinky and James played OK, I thought the game needed some intelligent runs into the box. Our guys seemed to by quite static - running in too early and relying on the perfect cut back.

Fair play to Dyche today IMO.

In the first half we were rampant with RDL having all the space he needed to get down the line and get crosses in.

In the second half he was nullified, although he did tire.

They came at us more after the break and we would have actually lost the game if it wasnt for Kaspers great save after RDL'S crazy back pass.

I remain unconvinced by GTF. He links play ok but I think we can do better at the club personally. He looks like Tony Hedges out of Mike Bassett!

All in all a very entertaining game, which either side could have won.

Burnley aren't a flash in the pan. They are a decent side at this level and could easily maintain their form.

Finally, again I thought Lloyd Dyer easily looked our most dangerous player and that was EXACTLY the type of game I'd have brought Andy King on. James started to tire and King could have been a good impact sub today.

Not the best result today but a bloody good game.

We got a point we didn't lose like the last two games calling for Pearsons head at this is totally ridiculous it's a point we still have a long way to go it's not as if the season finishes next week there's still loads of points to be played for and I'm sure Pearson will strengthen we're he thinks we need it in January but at this time were still in a good spot in the league just calm down for fooks sake keep supporting your club then moan at the end of the season but I for one don't think we will be moaning come May !!

No team can sustain the same pressure on the opposition for 90 minutes.

 

We're showing signs of being a bit lacklustre and impotent in front of goal.

We get overrun easily by more physical sides.

We can produce great passing moves occasionally, but without managing to bring strikeforce and midfield together. There's a clear lack of understanding and/or mental deficits.

If we are to push for a Top Two spot, this has to be amended asap.

 

The foundations overall are great, we are playing better than last season - but we've already thrown some silly points away and I do hope it won't bite us back in the arse comes May 2014

 

And weren't you one of the many who said that the other teams around us are just as "inconsistent" as us? At least, up to this point in the current campaign.

We have reached a crossroads for me, and the owners have two choices.

 

1/ Back Pearson with a new contract and contracts for Kasper, Morgan & Nugent. Then allow him to sign two players in the upcoming window.

 

2/ Do nothing and sit on the fence and see what happens which will almost certainly see us drop down the league and we'll be lucky to finish in the top 6 in my opinion.

 

The time for them to act in a positive manner is now.

The early equalizer in the first half shattered the home spirits for quite some time and only with the end approaching, did I see some much-needed urgency going forward.

We were so dominant in the first 45 minutes and should've been up by two goals at least. Poor finishing let us down there.

It's now close to four games or roughly 360 minutes since we last scored from open play (Knockaert at Sheffield Wednesday) and it does bug me that the midfield has such a hard time linking up with the strikers again.

This does indeed remind me of last season and the remaining games in December should act as an indicator whether Pearson and the players have learnt anything from last season's barren spell around this time of the year.

As it stands, it does look like history repeating in that regard.

Second half wasn't really much of an advertisement for the Championship. Hoofing and teams that were pretty much cancelling each other out resulted in a half bereft of many real goal chances.

And when we had some, we gave them away.

As of right now, we do look like a Top Six team, but not one that really wants to push for an automatic promotion place.

I think folk are getting abit dramatic thinking it's a repeat of last season,burnley had 7 points from there last 6 games prior to today,we had 9,but because we lost 3 games it's all doom and gloom,

I think we are lacking in the final third and cannot finish our dinner at the minute,

But Pearson will know this and I've complete confidence he will sign a striker that can finish,

I'm saying our game is built around a high tempo, and we are at our best when we play like that. We can't keep that up and I don't expect us to, because as you say nobody can.

So when that tempo drops off we need to adapt how we play. When the tempo drops we stop closing down, there becomes too much space between our players, we stop supporting attacks. Yet we keep trying to play the same way but it doesn't work.

Nobody on here is in a "doom & gloom" mood, just as much as no one has a go at Pearson at the moment - and deservedly so.

I think the majority appreciates that we're somewhat better than last season, but currently showing signs of feebleness again, reminiscent of last season.

It's more a cautious and reserved, realistic outlook.

 

We're playing well, but can do better.

Can't say I've seen it, only last season.

I have posted and read over the past couple of weeks that Pearson and the players need to sort themselves out, as the performances have been terrible, but unless we have a bad run like last season you won't hear me call for his head, depending on how the season goes, I might in the summer

think we played well enough given our last 2 displays and the low confidence, also the KP is a fortress even when below par we always get something - bar forest, a freak result. Lloydy was excellent today and he's really stepped it up this season can see Prem clubs looking at him tbh

Sat too deep second half and we paid the price. Why fo we do that? Too much of a gap between the defence and the forward line. Strange substitutions for me too? Why take Vardy and Nugent off? Drinkwater who was poor today or Knockeart should have been replaced. Still, at least we did not lose.

Abit frustrated as it goes.

 

We were great in the first half but a story we have all heard before - Didn't take/make more of our chances.

 

2nd half well, what happened there? We were terrible.

 

Nugent was 2nd to everything as he has been for a while, although tbh can't single him out barr De Laet and Vardy I feel all the team need to look hard at themselves.

 

We didn't lose, I guess that's the most important thing but can we afford to go looking for a draw next week? I felt we needed to win today to ensure a draw wouldn't be a bad result next week.

 

I think we just need to limp through to January, regroup, have a think, get some ideas and move on, I fear we're going south though.

To play at our best we need to play at a high tempo. We just don't seem physically capable of doing it for a full 90.

Blame Drinkwater everytime he got the ball he tried to slow it down instead of keepingup the quick passing tempo which we were so good at earlier in the season. The amount of times he got caught in possession was shocking.
