We were well on top without playing particularly well ourselves. You are a mardy arsehead sometimes. We should have won the game from the chances we created in the first half. Second half was very poor. I'm a mardy arsehead when people are overly harsh. Yes we should have win it, because we were the better team, because it was a very good first half performance. And we weren't any worse than them second half.

kingfox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Thought we were pretty average, we didn't take our chances, and I didn't think our midfield was competitive enough. Conditions got harder in the second half, that spell of hoof ball by both teams in the second half was pure embarrassment. The central of midfield wasn't good enough, Nugent was alright but he can easily do a lot more, typical performance from him this season. Vardy was incredible with his work rate, but needs to take his chances. Knockaert was awesome in the first half in my opinion, but was bloody crap in the second half, surprised he wasn't subbed. As for their goal, Drinkwater had a shocker there. Thought Wes & Liam were our best players today, could of done better with the goal as well, but overall they were rocks.
One Arm Babba Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 we should have had 2 maybe 3 after the first half. from there we would have won that game. however, a decent point against a good team. Truth is, we played football in the first half that no one else can in the championship. we need to be more clinical in front of goal. A ruthless striker would make all the difference. I think we already have him, if Nugent starts scoring freely from open play we will tear up this division. Burnley are OK, but i don't think they will be in the automatic places come May. QPR will be a proper test and i think we can go there and win.

If we can beat QPR next week then 4 points from those 2 games wouldn't be to bad at all. Fans that are moaning or calling for the managers head don't really have a clue.

I would also like to see konchesky dropped for schlupp. Him and dyer against Watford were superb and all the overlapping they did, Konchesky get's worse everytime I see him play, I will be amazed if we offer him new contract.

Konch and RDL (minus passback) played well. Vardy worked hard but missed two clear cut chances. Nugent didn't do much. Our corners need to be whipped in, not floated. So frustrating. Knocky's decision-making second half was very poor. GTF held it up well when he came on. Kasper's save was excellent, kicking not so. We were very good first half, bang average second.

Some fluent, patient passing caused Burnley problems and I think all that we lacked was the quality in front of goal to put the chances away. I'd be far more concerned if we weren't creating. If we play like that every game, like we have been throughout the majority, we will be absolutely fine. Its very difficult to maintain the level of dominance we showed in the first half for the whole 90 mins. When we needed too, we dug in, Kasper pulling off a smart 1 handed save to keep it level. Vardy will be disappointed not to be on the score sheet himself also. All in all, its a point against a very organised and gritty Burnley side who are where they are because they turn out performances like they did today when they need too. QPR is another test and one, quite frankly, I'm looking forward to.
Number 6 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Vardy great, Dyer superb (some lovely dinked crosses) and frustrated to not win. We were the better of the 2 sides but they have a tall, strong quick side and I think we were always wary of a counter.

Bert Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 We hammered them first half and should've been way out of site. Rested on our laurels and we were punished again, by shoddy defending. Didn't think Burnley were a decent football side but they are very well organised and put us under a lot of pressure when we were on the ball. After the second half performance a draw was probably fair but we could've easily had all three points today. If it's any consolation it was much better than the last two performances.

ealingfox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Don't think it went too badly today, we were good in the first half and were good value for the lead. Definite penalty for me, can't understand why the Sky commentators were so begrudging. Second half was very frustrating. We weren't too bad but the goal was soft and we could have created more. What worried me the most is that most of our players looked knackered by the hour mark, not good with two more big games in the next week. Fair play to Burnley, they didn't look an amazing outfit but they were well-organised and hard to break down. Made it very difficult for us second half and I can't see them losing too many games if their squad stays fit. Good to stop the rot in a way, but realistically considering how the game went its only really a good point if we get something at QPR.
