youglan Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 qpr and reading next up if we lose both them ganes we could be 4th with derby above us
justfoxes Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Can't say I've seen it, only last season. I have posted and read over the past couple of weeks that Pearson and the players need to sort themselves out, as the performances have been terrible, but unless we have a bad run like last season you won't hear me call for his head, depending on how the season goes, I might in the summer A few muppets along the way have been Anti NP but only the few !Totally agree the players need to leave what ever crap they have ongoing with the club when they walk on that field and show the owners etc that they deserve a contract !
Russell sprout Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 I said "from open play", I didn't know free-kicks didn't count? Nobody on here is in a "doom & gloom" mood, just as much as no one has a go at Pearson at the moment - and deservedly so. I think the majority appreciates that we're somewhat better than last season, but currently showing signs of feebleness again, reminiscent of last season. It's more a cautious and reserved, realistic outlook. We're playing well, but can do better. I must be stupid or missing something if Andy kings goal wasn't from open play,so if schemicheal takes a route 1 goal kick and let's say vardy gets on the end of it,is that not open play,in the same way king got on the end of knockarts free kick,am not trying to be funny, but that's open play, I agree we should be doing better, and it will get better in time imo?
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 This is what confuses me about Leicester fans. Some people have already decided who they are going to moan at and why, and they won't let evidence get in the way of that. Today's atmosphere felt so negative. Some people around me were actually booing Nugent when his name was called out. And they stood up, burning up with rage and shouting at him when he missed that "chance" in the second half - a ball that was a yard behind him and travelling away from goal. He did well to even get a touch on the ball. He probably played the pass of the season to Dyer in the first half after a neat bit of skill, and he worked hard all game, not to mention the comfortable finish for the penalty. But it'll never be enough for some people. Others around me were slating Kasper because he doesn't land the ball on a sixpence every time he kicks it, while apparently the Burnley keeper never fails to find a Burnley player (despite smashing it out of touch several times). Kasper had a couple of wayward kicks, as is expected, but his distribution overall was excellent. There was one in the second half where he had to hit it with the outside of his boot to bend it round the player who was closing him down; such a difficult technique to get right and not every keeper could do that. But a couple of minutes after that fantastic 1 on 1 save, he slightly over-hit a clearance and it went out, and once again people actually stood up to shout at him. Vardy - Great work rate today and certainly should have scored, but how much more philosophical are people being about him than Nugent? I am glad that Nugent didn't miss chances like that because he would have been lynched before he left the ground. When Nugent misses, he's past it, needs to be replaced etc, but when Vardy misses infinitely easier chances he's unlucky and all is forgiven. Why can't we be like that with all Leicester players instead of relentlessly berating them?
steflcfc Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Watched from the TV. When we kept it on the floor we created problems especially with Dyer. But for some reason we kept hoofing the ball up top Nugent and Vardy are not going to win many headrests all match. Not sure what game Pearson was seeing from the stands but it was obvious we needed to keep it on the floor. Draw prob a fair result
MC Prussian Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 I must be stupid or missing something if Andy kings goal wasn't from open play,so if schemicheal takes a route 1 goal kick and let's say vardy gets on the end of it,is that not open play,in the same way king got on the end of knockarts free kick,am not trying to be funny, but that's open play, I agree we should be doing better, and it will get better in time imo? King's goal was initiated by a set piece (a dead ball) and we haven't managed to score from a passing move from open play in close to four matches. Point still stands.

Riot Van Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 If QPR beat us then I think the pressure needs to go onto Pearson. Dyche could do a good job for us.
Riot Van Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 A vast amount of leicester fans just result to negativity and frankly its embarrassing to support the same club as them. If you don't get behind the team we aren't playing well, just f*** off.
nlukka Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 On balance I think the point was a fair result. We were on top in the first half without being fully dominant, while second half Burnley upped their game both defensively and going forward. Surprised by how direct they were and it seemed to be infectious because we played more long balls today than we normally do. For me that was our biggest problem because their 2 centre backs won almost every header against Nugent and Vardy. GTF helped hold the ball up, but he does his best work outside the penalty area, which meant we didn't have enough of a threat in the box. We struggled to get Drinkwater on the ball today, he was increasingly forced to pass sideways and backwards. Not seen a replay of their goal yet but from my initial view seemed to be a defensive mistake by Moore who missed the interception. Our heads dropped a little after the equaliser and thank f**k for Kasper after RDL's stray pass back. Considering RDL has been out for 4 weeks and Morgan's not trained all week I don't think it was a massive surprise we conceded today, we seemed to lack a bit of composure at the back. It's a shame we didn't get that second just before half time Vardy should have at least hit the target (and again near the end). Think we need another striker, especially with Wood being out. All in all not a bad point or performance, but room for improvement. Hope we get back to our best soon, especially with QPR and Reading to come next.
dayday Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 As mentioned we are a better side when we are pressing, though its impossible to play high tempo all the match...were we lack is not taking advantage when we have our spells, creating as many chances as we are we should be the highest scorers in this league by a country mile, defensively we look all at sea, whether that boils down to be to attacking minded i don't know, yet if we serious about promotion we have got to more ruthless this is probably why Pearson is looking at strikers.
Dan Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 We've slipped back to being unable to take advantage when we're on top. We should've had that game sealed by half time and I knew when we went in at only 1 up that we'd not win. Not a terrible result by any means but not a great one either especially knowing it could've been better. Think the case for signing Ebanks-Blake just got a little stronger.
Dickov22 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 My assessment of the game would be we were really good first half- some lovely passing moves, lots of possession, good link up between Nugent and Vardy. Should have gone in 2,3 up which would have been game over. Second half we gave away a ridiculous goal- how often do we ourselves get gifted goals like that with such bad defending? Not very. So poor and this gave Burnely a big lift which meant the second half wasn't so good from us. Burnley stopped Drinkwater and Knockaert playing. They are also big lads- we didn't seem to win much in the air. We still should have won the game with the chances we had. I do think today was a huge improvement on Sheff Weds and Brighton- we played much better. Still in a good position.

SEB could be great, he could be very very off the pace too. If we are serious about promotion, this squad needs a striker of proven quality to come in and start scoring goals straightaway. This could make all the difference. However well Vardy played today, if we would have had a real poacher in the team today, it would have been game over by half time. Thais... spend a bit of money, get in a really good striker at this level and lets get promoted.

If you don't get behind the team we aren't playing well, just f*** off.The vast majority that your on about support the club by going to games and paying a lot of money in the mean time. The vast majority sing and cheer on their team even when they are playing shit, but will come onto forums like this to vent their frustrations. So if you don't like it take a bit of your own advice.

I can't think of anyone who's available that's better than what we've got
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Ebanks Blake is a no for me. Who is there though? I can't think of anyone who's available that's better than what we've got It ALL depends on how serious we are regarding going up this season. What would Burnley demand for Danny Ings? They are potless arent they? 3 million would probably tempt them? There's one example. Believe me, this squad is not far off. Not far off at all. A clinical striker, on form, champing at the bit, could genuinely be the difference.

Bert Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Blame Drinkwater everytime he got the ball he tried to slow it down instead of keepingup the quick passing tempo which we were so good at earlier in the season. The amount of times he got caught in possession was shocking.Or he was just keeping possession rather than wasting the ball as Burnley were putting us under pressure.

suffolk fox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Or he was just keeping possession rather than wasting the ball as Burnley were putting us under pressure. Rubbish We will agree to disagree.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 You're talking about Pearson's job being under threat when we will be, at worst, two points off top spot and a point outside the automatics by close of play? No promotion, and it will be.
Happy Fox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 We don't want to fall away last season we did because we didn't strengthen enough in January you can bet your bollocks that QPR, F****t etc will. We have to as well, automatic promotion is their for the taking this season.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Don't know anything about the game, so can't comment.
Better_Man Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Not often i feel inclined to create an account for the sake of discussing matches with opposition fans but on this occasion i thought i'd make an exception. Just thought i'd give the majority of you a big thumbs up. It's not often you get sensible, non-partisan discussion on a rivals board a short while after the game, but i've been surprised here. It WAS an excellent advert for the Championship. Leicester looked excellent going forward, and would perhaps count theirselves unlucky to only be 1 goal in front at half time. Still, as many of you pointed out - if you don't take your chances when you are on top then you leave yourselves open to be punished. We didn't really show up at all for the first half. We've looked leggy and nowhere near the same intensity in the first half for maybe the last 5-6 games now. I guess that's the risk you run when you operate with a small squad. Still, a criticism of Dyche could be that he might've done something to arrest the trend. Slow starts have ultimately cost us points in this run - Huddersfield away, Watford and Bournemouth at home are examples of games you'd like to think, that as promotion contenders, you would do better in. However, Dyche has been excellent in his man management of the side, and so we looked like the "real" Burnley after the break. I think both of the sides would feel they could have pinched it. A theme of the game from our side would definitely be that we didn't get the ball down - put our feet on the ball and look to play at our own pace. We would normally look to Jones for that, who seemed off key for a lot of the game, and also Shackell & Trippier (Normally excellent at bringing the ball forward from defence) - but the pair of them were put under superb pressure from Vardy, Nugent and Dyer and looked for the long ball far too often imo. Leicester's bone of contention would be the same issue as the first - just getting the bloody thing in the net. Interesting that we are both seemingly in for SEB - he strikes me as the goal poacher you need in Wood's absence , whereas for us he would initially be 3rd choice which might just swing it in your favour - well, that and a few thousand other reasons Loved the Nuge pen at Burnley - it's just that i've always had him down as the old 'scorer of great goals' rather than a 'great goalscorer' so i don't think he's your man. All in all - i'd say a fair result. Leicester were exceptional bar the finishing touch in the first, whereas in the second we demonstrated our intensity and resilience. Our MOTM - Sam Vokes. Fair to say he had the better of most aerial battles and was a rock - no mean feat when you are playing against one of the top 3 centre backs in the league. Great hold up play and some tidy footwork. Is now a million miles from the journeyman carthorse we picked up for buttons. Your MOTM - Llloyd Dyer. I don't even watch the guy often but you can tell he must be infuriating to watch. As an opposition fan my heart was in my mouth every time he got the ball, but from speaking to many foxes he doesn't offer the kind of threat he did today often enough. If he had an end product he'd be playing for a top 6 PL side. Some excellent balls today, mind. Best of luck for the rest of the season chaps, wouldn't be disappointed at all to see ourselves and you lot make the cut. Oh - and forget about Ingsy, unless you've got 8 million down the back of your sofa - We've been blessed with some striking talent over the past 4 or 5 years and he is right up there.
