Some of the names being mentioned on their forum

Poyet

AVB

Ranieri

Lennon

lol

Given their previous antics the sad thing is half of them are probably being serious. Unbelievable.

Some of their fans have been crying?! :xmasblink:

Don't get me wrong I'd be upset if a manager I liked left (Pearson's first stint for example), but for fully grown men to cry about it? lol

I'd get it if they were in the top two but they're shít now! lol

Nice to see things come full circle with Sean Dyche too.

At a time when they were crap and had no money at all, or parent clubs to leech from, Dyche got them playing a tough to beat, pragmatic style of football that guided them to safety and stability.

Then the Italian family comes in and whoosh, cart the manager off without a thought as to the merits of the job hed done.

Now all of a sudden Dyche is achieving great plaudits at Burnley whilst moulding a side on a budget who play decent football, as the wheels fall off project Watford even further.

I know it's not going to happen, but if WBA do go and get Zola when Pearson is out of contract in six month! rofl.gif

Zola is gone! He has had his resignation accepted,

Now I do not want to turn this I to a Pearson out thread.

For the record I hope Pearson stays, but with the recent links on the forum and seemingly elsewhere it creates talking points, if he did go to west brom or another club, would you take Zola as replacement??

I would like a shot.

Read on for a brief club statement and an open letter from Head Coach to Watford supporters...

IT is with great sadness that the Board of Watford Football Club has accepted the resignation of Head Coach Gianfranco Zola.

Watford FC wishes to place on record its sincere gratitude to Gianfranco for his achievements at Vicarage Road, and for always acting with the utmost dignity and grace.

The Board fully respects his decision and Gianfranco will be welcome at Watford Football Club at any time in the future.

There will be no further comment from Watford FC or any individual at this time.

From Gianfranco Zola to all Watford supporters:

I am writing this today with a very heavy heart and after a lot of consideration, to tell you that I have resigned from my Head Coach position at Watford.

First of all, this decision has not been made quickly. I mentioned after the game on Saturday that I wanted to think about things overnight and that is exactly what I have done.

I must place Watford Football Club first in my thoughts and it is for this reason that I have taken my action.

I feel that it is in the best interests of the team that somebody new is given the chance to bring the success which we have all hoped for and worked very hard for.

It is for a variety of reasons, and not just over one matter or one moment, that I feel this is the right decision for me, in the best interests of the club - and I know I can trust you, the supporters, to respect my decision fully.

Last season was such an amazing time, for the players, the staff and the supporters. And I loved that journey. Every minute of it brought a new challenge, different experiences and a lot of learning.

I have had supporters tell me that the Leicester game in May was the most amazing moment in their time supporting their club.

I will always remember having been welcomed so warmly to this wonderful football club, to have been supported so fully and to have been able to share moments of excitement and joy that will always live with me.

But this game does not wait and does not stop. There is always the next challenge and a new environment ahead which means nothing is ever the same.

For now, I want to wish the players, the staff, the fans and everyone else who has Watford Football Club at heart my best wishes for the future.

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve this club and I am sure we will see each other again one day.

Best wishes,

Gianfranco

Yep, that must really rub salt in the wound for them.

I thought Dyche was decent at Watford but not brilliant. He's doing an amazing job at Burnley and I stand by that even if they don't go up. I thought they'd be scraping to stay up this year.

Nige would never resign when the going gets tough.

No but to be fair, he left for a bit extra money... As we all would, but let's not paint a picture that Nigel is perfect here implying gianfranco has bottled it...

Good point though, fortunately Nigel has done well enough for times not to get too tough, he's always had us in the top half and mostly in the top 6,

So if Nigel got offered west brom, would you take Zola?

I'd have him here if NP left.

But thinking West Brom will move for him now he's free.

Wouldn't surprise me if he has already spoken to them!

Probably why he resigned...

Probably spot on.

Well, that made me smile a little.

Hope the Watford fans enjoyed their brief spell of success under Zola.

They're bound to disappear somewhere in mid-table.
