Super_horns Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I did think you'd enjoy the news! Anyone with half an ounce of common sense would know we wouldn't be able afford somebody like Di Matteo or AVB so probably just people dreaming.. In realistic terms it will be somebody the Pozzos known or have to be a manager who wants to work with the Pozzo model. Our real trouble has been no Vydra or Abdi plus no Plan B when the going gets tough. As ever in these situations its the players who really need to look at themselves. Shame for Zola as he is a decent guy and clearly honest to admit his mistakes rather than waiting for a pay-off...

Agreed. 9 times out 10 my finger is pointed at the players, a manager can only do so much and blame shouldn't be purely on a manager. I'm not talking about the situation at Watford because I don't know much about the situation i'm just talking generally.
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 That's true but at the end of the day the manager is the manager. They always get the bullets in most walks of life. If a team isn't performing (not just in sport), it's the manager that gets questioned.
Wycombe Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 They'll get some total unheard of. I can say that with confidence. Probably someone like Jason Williams
kingfox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 He was thinking of walking on Saturday, not surprising at all. Vydra & Chalobah both gone, two players there who probably were Watford's best players last season, along with Abdi who has been out injured this season, and Deeney who hasn't been that prolific this season. He didn't replace Vydra, he tried to replace Chalobah by bringing in both McGugan and McEachran, saw some Watford fans a few weeks back, saying McEachran is rubbish. Just goes to show what happens, when two of your best players leave, and another one get's injured. If they had those three players for this season, they would probably be up there again. With us, we have kept our side in tact, but haven't added another goalscorer and a player who can get 10+ assists, with us we will be in the mix, but without those two components, I can't see us getting promoted, just yet.
Dan Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Probably someone like Jason Williams Weird name for an Italian. Wonder if they go for Del Piero

I used to really rate Mceachran as a big prospect but seems like he's dropped right off
Alf Bentley Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Some of the names being mentioned on their forum Poyet AVB Ranieri Lennon Which Lennon do they think will be rocking up in Watford? John?!
Super_horns Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Fair point Fox92. The new players "brought" this summer haven't really played - McGugan has been in the side more than most and we've actually played Thorne/McEachran more than the ones brought from Italy and as I say there was a change in the coaching staff which disrupted things. Just hope we get somebody who knows what the league is about and maybe can adapt which Zola wasn't quite able to do...
kingfox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I used to really rate Mceachran as a big prospect but seems like he's dropped right off His relationship with Brooke Vincent, has gone to his head. Just hope we get somebody who knows what the league is about and maybe can adapt which Zola wasn't quite able to do... Best possible appointment for you guys would be Steve Clarke right now. Just have a feeling you will go for a unknown, or try to get Di Canio on board, just cause his Italian.
Super_horns Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Di Canio already it seems would be a poor choice for the fans. Steve Clarke is well backed.

Aus Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 This is just the sort of place I could see Sven poping his head in, rich family with no real clue and wanting instant success. Sell them your dream Sven!

It's that sort of arrogance we should be attempting to move away from. I'm sure he'd have to win the fans over first and prove that he's the right man for the job but I'd have faith in him to do that. He deserves another shot at managing a big club. lol lol lol lol

Super_horns Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Sure its not a wind up type post? You do have to be careful with some of those posters as to if they are being serious or not...
MC Prussian Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Like I've already stated in another Watford-related thread, the Hornets are about a season or two behind us in terms of hiring policy. The high-profile signings in recent months and years as well as last season's success under Zola have really gotten to their heads. Turns out, it was all but a fluke. At least we had Yakubu.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 December 2013 Author Posted 16 December 2013 Sure its not a wind up type post? You do have to be careful with some of those posters as to if they are being serious or not... Tbf after reading the thread I don't think any were serious, especially that highlighted comment.
Trumpet Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I remember their fans saying how they'd come back stronger this year.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 this is hilarious, but the Watford fans reaction is just tragic.
LestaFox92 Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 HA FVCKING HA league one is waiting you plastic italian cvnts
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 That Watford team was always going to be a one-season wonder with the way it was put together. It seems that the Pozzos haven't sent across quite the calibre of player this season as they did last, and the minute that the going's got a little tough Zola's walked which, I think, says a lot about his character. Around the time of the play-offs I think he showed a little lack of class and was getting a bit ahead of himself, and it's reflected in the fact that he can't handle things not being as rosy as when he was given Serie A players for The Championship. People talk about humility and dignity with Zola but his comments about how they should beat us and that it wasn't fair that they had to play in the play-offs when they'd finished 3rd showed that it's not always there. Yes it was a wonderful moment for Watford with the Deeney goal, but how many other managers would have reacted like he did? Running onto the pitch... I certainly don't think Pearson would have acted in the same manner. This season has been a test of both his managerial ability and his character and he's failed both. He'll walk into a decent job somehow though because there's a myth surrounding him because of Zola the player. Watford fans thanking him for "that Leicester moment/match" is also a little embarrassing given that it got them to where exactly? A wasted day on a major bottle job at Wembley. It would be like Pearson leaving and us thanking him for "the Knockaert moment against Forest" - great at the time but, in the grander scheme, ultimately it got us nowhere.
Out Foxed Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 HAHAHA, SOME OF THEM ARE ACTUALLY DISCUSSING IT IN A SERIOUS MANNER. Good god. delusional set of fans
z-layrex Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 delusional set of fans To be fair we have just as many if not far more.
