Owner wipes out debt.

This is possibly the best 100m the owners have spent... with the QPR win it confirms that they have made the right decision committing to the club.

Sounds amazing on paper.

But I can't help but think that they haven't done that just cause they love Leicester, there must be business motives behind it that help them.

But I could be wrong! I don't know enough about finance to say!

Seems a great gesture to the club and don't know what this means in respect to FFP, I'm no economist. I do wonder what the business motives are behind it, however.

The pitch is still more important than the accounts, though!

EVEN MORE FANTASTIC NEWS!  :scarf:

Don't Carlsberg do them adverts? haha

Errr...yeah, it is Carlsberg isn't it.  Mixed up my beer ads!!

Seriously though, to my way of thinking, the only way they can make their £103 million back is to grow the club until it is worth more than that.

Would like to see it from an official source, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. They did afterall tell everybody this was what they were going to do a few months back.

The owners have come in for some completely unwarranted stick about their financial dealings here in the past, and some slightly more warranted stick for taking Mandaric's advice on Sousa and Sven.

But while some people have taken every and any scrap of an opportunity to take a pot shot at them (usually based on pure ignorance), they've done nothing but quietly strive towards achieving honest success at this club, going about their business with impeccable class and dignity. They are superb owners, and it's about time they got some recognition.

Brilliant post, could not agree more.

Fantastic news if true.

The owners not only seem to be learning from their mistakes but actually now seem to be going out if their way to rectify them.

Hopefully Mr Pearsons contract will be next.

I'll be honest and hold my hands up.

Till this point I did not trust our owners they could have trashed our club at anypoint.

Big up to them a day for celebration beat QPR amd no debit yes we could now spend in jan to push on and go up.

Hold my hands up they have done the right thing and now have my full support.

You're right though to be fair. We shouldn't just trust owners and that's highlighted by the bullshit of clubs like Cardiff and Hull. We still shouldn't really, it's a massive gesture but they have to continue doing the right things in the mid to long term. We haven't made much tangible progress yet. Maybe next season we'll see...

My worry was always the pompie model most did not see that we was totaly ripe for it.

They sell the new owner can't afford the repayments we go under.

They did not give money like the chelski model and most missed that.

Big enough to hold my hands up they have today proved me wrong.

We can all hold our heads up and push on now without fear.

Hopefully they will still pump in a few mill or underight it so we can move fwd.

Whatever happens just don't want a sven season when the window opens.

WE STILL DON'T HAVE MONEY REMEMBER THAT.

They are good owners. No knee jerking and are running the club soundly. As fans what more could we ask for.

Free tickets, better food, free shirts and hot cheerleaders.

Really did you miss the sven year when they pissed it up the wall.

Whoever you blame they signed the cheques.

praps they learnt a leason or did the FFP rules stop them we will never know.

Don't try and make them out to be good guys and knew what they where doing.

They walked in splashed cash and thought they could buy it.

They now know different.

They fvcked up and has cost them 103mill.

Just big up to them for now sorting it   :xmaswink:

Even before this, any potential new owner would have known about the debt, and would have only bought the club if they could afford the repayments (and of course the cost of the club would have been substantially lower due to the debt anyway), unless the potential new owners were complete chumps, which may well have happened, but you could have hardly blamed the current owners for the incompetence of future owners.

As for pumping new money in now etc. It isn't going to happen. We're still bound by FFP regs so this conversion of debt to equity does nothing to improve our current spending power (on the playing squad ar least).

Great news.

Hopefully now we'll run our club sensibly and not just throw money around for the sake of it, they've started going that way and promotion would be massive now with the revenue that will generate.

I'd love us to spend in January..... and the timing of this does seem to indicate that could happen...

Yet at the same time spending money and getting in debt a few days after wiping out our debt just would seem a little  foolhardy to me

Could it be that our owners have found a sneaky way round the FFP rules?
