So yesterday Martinez said they would resist a world record bid for the lad.

If we had a 20yr old that was attracting such speculation what would you want the club to do.

To me we could Strengthen our whole squad and be a better force.

But would need the right manager not sven.

Has AVB managed it at Spurs not sure myself but a better job than Sven did

AVB got the boot, same result has Sven... Bale got him out of a lot of trouble last season and couldn't replace him. It is essential to keep hold of your star players whatever anyone offers, try your best to resist.

Yes Bale did but Everton like us will not have millions to spend to compete.

A world record bid and sale could give them the money to compete.

Or set them on the road so they can like it would us.

We're not exactly in a position to turn down a £100m bid for one of our players are we?

Anyone offered 100mil for Gallagher I would turn it down...

To me Everton are not either.

Thats the reason I asked the question.

What would are fans want 1 truely world class player or a team of prem winners (if the money was spent wisely bare in mind he is one of there own)

Agreed. With regards to barkley, definatly. It's not like he's ever going to be world-class is it?! In reality he's probably worth £20m tops.

His ball retention, dribbles, strength and shooting ability certainly tells me this guy has all the potential to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the game. Moyes should have bought him instead of the 27 mill he wasted on Fellaini. To say he won't be world class is a little stupid, I bet if he was Spanish or Brazilian you would be claiming otherwise. Don't worry I will put it down to you having too much champaign over Christmas.

Why is this a topic.? Doesnt involve us so who cares!

Should be in general sport for sure I agree...

Remember Tim Cahill saying he was the best player he's ever played with and that's at the age of 16(Ross Barkley, I think).. Says a lot!

Swear I seen something the other day saying you can tell what foot a player is by asking them to take consecutive penalties. Barkley did it scored 4 with his left. 4 with his right.

Lads a talent.

I just notice when they kick it a lot. :)

Good observation, ever thought about being a scout?

He's the type of player that you could build a team around, but put £50million+ into perspective and think how you could reinvest that in the squad.

It depends how it is spent. If you bought two or three world class players, Barkley would be forgotten about. Spend it like Spurs and it would seem a waste in the short term.

The fact this is being talked about sums up what an absolute joke football has turned into in this country. He's a very good player based on what we've seen, but a lot of it is still largely potential - what drive would he have to reach that potential once he feels he's made it aged 21?

But I thought penalties didn't count?

British talent is running so thin and the current market is sky high for the type of player. That said there are a lot of young players coming on to the scene, Barkley is flying and I think Beranhio and Morrison will be knocking around a WC Call if they continue to have a good season.

If we ever sell a player for 50 million ( which is surely just a couple of years away) I'd realistically expect half to be invested back into the squad..
