Bert Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Cmon Bertie admit it... youre still a Beckford fan yes?Not as such. Always liked him when he was here, but he's gone now and we're doing much better without him and that's the most important thing for me. But as I've said I think he was unfairly treated by some of the fans, when others were equally as bad. I think its about time now that very time we sell a striker we put in a transfer clause stating that they can't play against usI could very well be wrong here but I thought I'd read clubs aren't allowed to do that anymore?
gazfox9 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 "Only the weak feel pressure". Strange thing to say when signing for a new club, as it kinda heaps a lot of pressure on before a ball has been kicked.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 I was asked to show his contribution. And did. He was one behind Nugent. Must say a lot for the rest of the team that season. As you he said it's the only player you've been disappointed we've signed - so it's pretty clear that you're going to try and find every possible negative you can do. No reasoning with some That's a pretty large, condescending jump in logic you've made there but I can understand why you'd say that given that I was disappointed he was signed and he turned out to be so poor that a 19 year old Schlupp was regularly preferred. Of course I could throw that right back at you and tell you he contributed sweet Fanny A to our promotion push that season. But I'd be fed some guff about those crucial cup goals so it'd be circular.
LCCFox96 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Regardless of what people are saying about beckford we have to move on: Did it work out for him here? - no probably not despite having a good January-April in the 11/12 season. Is beckford a crap player because of his leicester spell? - certainly not. Even from the people posting negative comments there are plaudits like best finisher at the club etc. He is a very good player epitomised by his movement (nugents winner in the Norwich cup tie was made by beckfords movement) and finishing. Saw further back "Leeds did ok with him" - are you kidding? 72 in 126 for leeds is class. He had a better goal scoring rate the McCormack and becchio. My uncle is Leeds fan and seen him playing a few times up at elland road as a younger kid and he looked the real deal (although tbf he never looked the same with us for some reason). I think his reception was harsh. He took equal levels of stick to the likes of mattock which he didn't deserve at all. Booing is fair enough and expected. But will he be hated as much next year? Doubt it. He's an ex player where the booing gradually fades away year upon year. He's not a real villain.

The promotion push that seen us get into the playoff places.... Once? Even without the cup goals he was still our second top scorer in the league that season. Don't get me wrong, he could and really should've done a lot better for us. Don't think for a minute that I think he's some kind of messiah.
Bayfox Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Him being annoyed at being booed off for doing little you mean? fixed

He's not a real villain. mainly in l1.and people on here slag fryatt for being l1 standard. seems leicester fans can't appreciate what we have and love to make out what we don't are world beaters. Just as an example sako comes to mind. Hardly tearing l1 a new arse is he yet our fans love him based on 1 game against us. sorry off topic I know. But not sure how much football our fans watch.
LCCFox96 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 mainly in l1. and people on here slag fryatt for being l1 standard. Given he has played in all four divisions and scored relatively well in all of them he is clearly a good goal scorer. The fact he has played EPL and scored 10 for a then bang average mid table Everton side says he probably comfortable playing in the championship. Also when you look at the teams he has played for in the championship he has either not got settled or been playing for a shit side. 8 in 20 at an until recently struggling Bolton side, 8 in about 20 in a shite Huddersfield side and 15 for us when he never got going. Once he settles down he'll score goals. + If you offered beckford to Leeds in the championship - or even back to Huddersfield - I bet they'd take him. My point being if he works in your system you'd have him. He's not at our club anymore anyway. Good player - didn't work out. It's no more complicated.
shade Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 nah he's a bang (below) average player and a reasonably high level clown. his neck tattoo and "weak people" comment tell me all I need to know about him. that comment definitely has to be etched on his gravestone!
ozleicester Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 And not one single head butt... What on earth is going on!? Hes gone soft... Pearson out!
JonnyBoy Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 he scored a hat trick against our rivals ffs he got a reception as if he had shagged all our mums
Leicester Lass Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Lets have it right. he didnt set the fee or the wage. players say he was a decent guy. Kingy semms to love him. however he was lazy. Didnt even score goals like the yak!! However he did get 3 against them. And thats 2 more than tommy wright. but yesterday he scored. Did **** all else. Celebrated like it meant the world and I'm sure he really wanted to beat us. but for me the incident at posh. For those defending him. Oh dear bless him he'd chased back once (something hume gets slagged for) when we were losing we had a free kick on half way that kasper was taking. Gtf in the box. that coupled with his attitude at wet spam away after sven got sacked was the final straw when steve howard shows you up then **** me your bang average. Stowell shoulr have nutted him in the way off. Think your memory deserts you a little bit, Kasper didn't take it, it was a direct free kick on the edge of the box which was blasted high and wide. This whole incident was blown massively out of proportion by those two clowns on Radio Leicester, and sadly most of our fans have to go by what they said as they weren't at the game that day.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Jermaine Beckford, long gone but still capable of being the catalyst for pages of pointless debate, you've got to hand it to him he's good for something.

I was there, and he was a bloody disgrace.

Blasted is probably being too kind to Drinkwater. He sort of ambled up to it and lazily side footed it about 15 metres over. A properly lamentable bit of football. That whole 2 minute spell summed up everything that was wrong with the team at that time - the players looked like they couldn't give two shits and it really comes to something when Beckford is the only man tracking back in the 90th minute. This was followed by a three-way shouting match between Beckford, Bamba and Schmeichel and one of the worst free kicks I have ever seen. Just goes to show what an amazing job Pearson has done. The last 26 months since he came back really have been a proper roller coaster.
Corky Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Was it Drinkwater with that free-kick? Why is Marshall on my mind when I think of that?
Vardinhio Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Should we be mad at Beckford? Oh diddums who cares, seriously he wont in the slightest! I'm sure he had an enjoyable day seeing some old faces and catching up with a few mates.
Guest MattP Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Can't believe this has gone 5 pages. Indifferent to him leaving, talented yes but not as good as he thinks and he is a real passenger to accommodate, even I forgot just how lazy he was until Sunday. Didn't boo, no point. Glad he celebrated, I find it cringeworthy to see goalscorers not celebrating a goal, maybe not if you actually support that club or have spent ten years but otherwise it's daft. Lets be honest the money we paid for Mills was a million times worse than what we paid for jb, he is just dreadful.

Ok maybe but him being stood on the halfway line having an argument with kasper sticks in my mind. how the **** did we end up with a free kick on the edge of the area if beckford had just chased that far to win the ball. must drink less on away days!!!
Bert Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 How do people know what was said between Kasper and Beckford?
C-man Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Scored a trick against Forest. For that alone he deserves a lot more respect than he got on Sunday and has ever got from us as a collective. Having said that I think both camps should say 'cheerio Jermaine, peace'.
Soar Fox Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 That performance at Peterborough was one of the worst I've seen in many years by a Leicester team and that includes the dross that Levein & Kelly served up. Before the final whistle there was a lot of "Pearson sort it out" being chanted and then at the final whistle lots of booing. I'll be honest at the time I didn't think Pearson was the man to turn it round, I'm very glad he's proving/proved me wrong.
