jimmeh Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Such an underrated league ! For me it is the second best league in world behind premiership. Love Juve. Tevez and pirlo! so much better than the Spanish division for me.
DennisNedry Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 If you take Real and Barca out of the equation it's very close, but with those 2 teams included La Liga edges it for me.
jimmeh Posted 5 January 2014 Author Posted 5 January 2014 Yeah far more entertaining. More and more top players and managers going there aswell. Only have to look at napolis team and manager. Mourinho managing in Italy. Find Spanish games a bit too boring to watch.

Athletico for the past 7-8 years have been terrific. Before than Valencia were a force. Hasn't always been a two horse race over in spain
Dan Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Under-rated league due to lack of coverage. I wonder how a lot of people would view the Bundesliga/Serie A if $ky had coverage of both.
Langston Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 James Richardson said Serie A is a difficult thing to sell as a product when C4 had coverage. Half empty stadiums and the slower tempo they play at isn't all that attractive to a lot of people, be it rightly or wrongly.
21st Century Fox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 90's Serie A was quite possibly my favourite footballing period ever. I found a pile of Football Italia magazines in my parent's attic a while ago, amazing memories.
Langston Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 90's Serie A was quite possibly my favourite footballing period ever. I found a pile of Football Italia magazines in my parent's attic a while ago, amazing memories. Richardson loved an outrageous pudding, best football anchor in the country by a distance. I used to love Fiorentina when they had Batistuta, Edmundo, Rui Costa, Di Livio, Toldo, Chiesa... I remember feeling completely gutted Batistuta went to Roma.
21st Century Fox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I think my favourite Serie A player was Gianluca Pagliuca at his Inter height. Closely followed by Bobo Vieri.
Soar Fox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I used to love watching Football Italia on a Saturday morning hosted by James Richardson. Then on the Sunday they'd have a live game on. My favourite players were.. Alvaro Recoba Hernan Crespo Gabriel Batistuta Pippo Inzaghi
Finnegan Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 All about Hellas Verona Trust you to pick the fascists.
RowlattsFox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Used to love lazio growing up, think Sven was there at the time. They had Veron, nedved, nesta, salas, crespo, mihajlovic and many more.
MC Prussian Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I like the Serie A every now and then and occasionally check the results to see how Atalanta are doing (sorry Finners - I do know they have a right-wing element to their fanbase, as well). And I have a soft spot for Livorno (just to make up to Finners ).
Mack Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I've tried but by golly is it boring. It's almost pedestrian slow and whilst technically it might be of a decent standard I have to force myself to watch it.

In Italy, there's an insane amount of nutty politics in football, it's impossible to avoid to be fair! Parma were my 90s Football Italia team.
RedHux Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Whilst not serie a I'm a staunch follower of ac siena. For one, I've been there, two the ground looks like they've just borrowed stands from wherever they could be found and lastly because the first game I watched the manager was sent off and because the tunnel was on the other side of the pitch from the benches had to walk across the middle of the pitch to dogs abuse from the home fans but replied by giving the finger to three sides of the ground. Can't help but admire that peculiarly italian style of not giving a ****.
Darkon84 Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Anyone see the Juve-Roma game last night? Roma realising they are going to lose their first game all season, and not having the mentality or maturity to deal with it so completely lost it. Two red cards in 86 seconds, with one of them coming from De Rossi basically trying to break Chiellini's legs. Though to be honest, if you get done for pace by Chiellini, you might be a tad embarrassed and pissed off .
21st Century Fox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I can also remember a time when the sound of Tiziano Crudeli's voice didn't want to make you put your fist through the TV.... Also the first time they interviewed Christian Vieri on Football Italia and he spoke with an Aussie accent was ****ing brilliant.
bovril Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I remember watching the Weah goal vs Verona live. From then on I was hooked. Actually seeing James Richardson reading the papers over cake and coffee was when I first wanted to move abroad I lived in Palermo for two years and had a season ticket. Supporting a team in pink was quite a novelty. Italians are absolutely mental about football, pretty much everyone in the country supports a team and yet the stadiums are often half empty as mentioned above. The country itself is quite weird and paradoxical. Spanish football has never really done it for me. There's just something about Serie A, the mixture of beauty and grittiness. It's a tough place to play football, I remember when Mancini came to manage City and one of the berks on MOTD speculated on what his reaction might be to a cold winter night in Stoke. And I thought "if you can do it on a cold winter night in Verona on a soggy pitch whilst getting abused by opposition fans, Stoke is going to be a fvcking cakewalk".
