The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 I love Pearson meself, the sad thing is when folk say stand by him even if we get relegated, I hate to say it but there's to many getting on the Pearson bandwagon now he's being successfull, Most of you would be calling for his head this time next year if were bottom if the league, It's not my intention to put a downer on things but some of the hypocrital arse licking of Pearson on here from folk who slagged him off drives me mad, For the record I'm a massive Pearson fan and have NEVER called for his head,I'm sure I've provoked a reaction here but one that is justified? I completely agree.
Dr The Singh Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Honestly, he has changed my opinion of him, I wasn't a fan last season. I hope he get's his chance for next season, the whole season!!
sylofox Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Simple answer to the OP's Q If he don't the owners are fvcking stupid and I hope no one goes nxt season.
Russell sprout Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Very honest of you dr,I just feel people expectation next season, which should be survival, won't be enough for some,if we were bottom of the league but within touching distance of the teams above us at this stage, ild be more than confident that Pearson could turn it around, Nigel Pearson as shown how tough a manager he is to crack, putting up with the shit he did of our fans, what doesn't kill him will only make him stronger.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Only way I don't see him staying is if he doesn't want a new contract, which wouldn't really make too much sense considering he's been lurking around the lower leagues for about 6 years now.
David. Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 He damn well better be and I'm sure he will be- the Thais surely aren't that stupid. However, I really hope they don't jump the gun and sack him early on in the season if we're not doing too well. This is all theoretical of course..we're not even promoted yet. NIGE THOUGH What a man.
Bryn Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 I'm a staunch Pearson fan and have never wavered but a three year contract is quite sufficient.
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 It's been an amazing season thus far for LCFC. It's also been a fantastic season for Mr Nigel Pearson. His stock value must have gone through the roof! I expect him to be offered a long-term, lucrative contract, and for him to sign it.... but I would not be at all surprised to see other clubs coming in for him. West Brom is a club that springs to mind (if they stay up), Swansea is another. Despite this being a possibility, I think the club will be able to afford to keep him, because, with his success, that's what it's come to!
fuchsntf Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 I can see Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Brom trying to temp him next season. Tottenham, Everton and an outside chance of Man Utd might also come in. Would he go if those clubs came in for him. Tie him down for 5 years with a big get out clause saying that he cannot walk into another club for 6 months unless the other club pay a 10 million fee back to LCFC. Why should AV or WBA be of interest...???Everton have a top manager, whos well supported by his chairman. MANU are not going to seperate from Moyes in the next 2 seasons...Tynside may have a pull for/on him, and for his sake I hope he isnt tempted, I hope his h e ad and not his heart would keep him at bay for at least 2-3 seasons. The same thinking for spurs, but these could be the Danger, if he wants to bite now and not gather some more experience for a very big job that spurs would be.

Both Villa and West Brom would be tempting of course. They have both been in the Prem League for some years (Villa havw never been out of it?), so are now 'established' Prem clubs, I assume with finances to match. Villa play in front of crowds of what? C. 40k As I said above, I believe Pearson will see out the project with Leicester and will sign a new contract. But don't think that if these other options become available, they won't be tempting! Because they would be. To get a club like Aston Villa back into the big time would be seen as a huge success for any manager and hero worship would follow. But I hope that Nige stays. I can't now see any other manager around as a better option for the long term future of the club.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 West Brom have Mel and Villa probably won't sack Lambert. Anyone who is throwing names like Man U being interested in Pearson is completely deluded.

The 'bigger clubs'. Nige will need to prove himself in the Prem before any of them come sniffing, I suspect.
foxfanazer Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Wouldn't see the point in NP taking any mid to lower prem jobs. When he came back and said he had unfinished business I think that would've been more than just promotion. Hopefully he wants to see this project through. The signings he has made look like they were signed with the premier league in mind
Happy Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 I would be very surprised if his contract hasn't already been sorted out, his planning for the prem started 6 weeks ago and with £50m transfer kitty, exciting times ahead for City!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Pearson will be here in august if its down to him. Im sure of it
foxfanazer Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 His planning for the prem started 6 weeks agoAlright Claridge!

Mel will keep his job if West Brom get survival, can't see them sacking him if he keeps them up. Lambert is an interesting one, I think the way he goes about things is just the kind of guy Lerner likes aslong as they don't end up in too much trouble, I think they'll give Lambert time due to his youthful approach.
Happy Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Alright Claridge! Ahh Damn thought no one would see that
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 When you look at some of the crap we've had in the managers seat since O'neil it makes me so glad we have Nigel. There's a plan with him. He's organised, he has a strategy for all aspects of the football side of the club and I feel like we are in good hands with him at the helm. It's not rocket science to keep a club in the premiership. Provided you have sufficient funds and spend wisely, avoid any turmoil and disputes. You can stay up and stay up sensibly. It's one of the reasons why what O'neil did for us was so extraordinary as he didn't have that. In Pearson we have a manager who lays down foundations. We have players in this side at present who find this league too easy. There's tour foundations for next year. Add to the fact Nige hardly buys a bad player we have a seriously good chance of staying up next year. I am a strong supporter of Nigel and even if we were to go down id want him to be the man to rebuild us for a another charge to premiership. He's not perfect but he has faced nearly every situation a manager can with us. He has built two very good teams and has had us competing continuously throughout his tenure. The fact is what is out there if nigel goes. There's not a lot and sometimes going into the unknown doesn't really pay off. Unfortunately, I think it's more a case of when nigel will be tempted by a bigger club then us pushing him out. We are lucky to be going through what we are and for those of us who didn't fully enjoy/appreciate the o'neil days don't make that mistake again cos we've had nearly 12 years of heartache!
