Will Pearson be retained if we get promoted

That would be incredibly stupid.

Your usual one liner... why would it be stupid? Elaborate...

Don't forget next season starts after England fail to get out of the group stages (or lose in a peno shootout against Germany in the semis)

A five year contract for someone without premier league experience would be silly. If all doesn't got to plan the compensation Pearson would be owed would be massive. a 2 year deal would probably be the smartest move.

The FA coming sniffing for the national team is about the only scenario where I'd be able to reconcile myself with Pearson leaving.  I'd ask that they kindly allow him a few more years to set us up with a solid Premiership foundation first though.

He bloody should be!

And within reason (Unless he does something outrageously stupid) even if we get relegated next season we need to stick with him.

You only get Premier league experience by being given the chance to manage in it.  He has earned the right to at least a 2 year deal, but I would give him 3.

I never said it didn't, but putting a 5 year contract on someone who doesn't have the experience is very risky indeed. I'd probably agree with 3 aswell, if I was the one negotiating I'd give him a 2 year.

His job is safe 100% in my opinion,

Not sure if anyone else saw,

But he walked up the stands towards the end and climbed over seats to get to Vichai and his wife, He kissed the wife on the cheeks and Shook the hand of vichai, All of them smiling like we'd won the league, The owner was holding pearsons hand and you could see the gratitude on his face.

Unbelievable happiness for all parties,

There is no way he wont get a contract. I'd give him 5+ years.

Edit: Just to add to that, Maybe i'm looking too far into it but it just looked like they were best mates, all smiles, a real connection.

Looked like the same bond he has with players.

I don't think contracts are the same as they used to be. You think Pardew's for example was 10 years with no clauses?

Personally I'd be happy with him signing a 4 year deal. Even if we came straight back down again I don't see any reason he shouldn't be given another shot at it.

Noticed this too. It was small but It was really good to see. Certainly looked like they weren't strangers to each other and Vichai and his wife looked very happy.

Well done. At least you made an argument.

Personally, I'd like to see Pearson tied down to a long-term contract. I reckon there will be other clubs wanting him. 5 years shows real commitment on both sides.

With the way we are playing and dominating the league, he is definitely worth putting our faith in. Even a 4 year deal would say 'this mangers here to stay', with the bargain buy's he has bought in and the quality of football we are playing, it's clear players want to play for him and the club...That can only be a good thing long term.

I'd like us to tie him down for a while. I believe he'll really establish us, even if there was a relegation next year. I'd be delighted if he was offered a 5 year contract.

And to be fair... If we come straight back down, The majority vote is to keep him and let him try again....

So we go up this season, Give him a contract and we have 2 possibly 3 scenarios...

He keeps us up and builds... Great we've got a manager capable of building us into an established premier league team.

OR

We come down next season (4 years left) - The general vote is to keep him as he deserves another try

He gets us up (3 years left)

We come back down (2 years left) this would be the point we would look to change and 2 years left he would be quite easy to move on anyway,

So financially its not a 'stupid' move.

Worst case scenario we come down next season and stay down, But with a bigger surplus of cash in the club to move him on anyway

We need to tie him down. 2 years is not enough to build a premiership side. I expect us to go down next season or scrape through but straight back up if NP is around. If we don't get 20 points by November and we sack him the new Manager whoever we get has got to build a team. The only way I would like to see NP go is if Sir Fergie get bored and comes out of retirement and wanted to manage at LCFC

Yes I saw that .... was fantastic to see them all look so happy and united. Fair play to vichai for sticking by NP too, deserves a lot of credit for our promotion.

I'd like to see him tied down to a long term contract too, but thinking of it if I was the one who was laying down the deal I think a 5 year deal would be too risky. Pearson doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to commit  that long to one club anyway. If I was the one giving the deal, the first year is pretty much to see how he would cope with the negatives and positives if the season is successful get the extension wrapped up by the end of the first year rather than waiting till the tail end of his deal.

Spot on.

Sorry about post above. Sent before I'd commented

Yep just like NP doubters...ranted without thinking.

People or some people forget how even MON was treated, during his first year.

Fox supporters are not the only ones, to get a dig in before a manager is even sat on the bench.

Any coach or manager needs time, usually a good whole season.Pearson to me belongs even in his

First stint. to a group of prospects of this era who will be seen as the cream of the 2010-2025 period.

I believe at present there is no club in the Premieship, that could offer better potential than city.

The big clubs already have the managers they want. The tyneside clubs at the moment dont have a

good solid base. (Maybe in 2-3 seasons), that I can see tempting him.

So unless there is an argument or a falling out, Mr Nigel Pearson will be taking this club further,

so he and we can share and enjoy the ride.It also seem the board know where they are at.

Good to hear!

He's the backbone to the club, We completely lost our whole platform over the last 10 years, we'd become a nothing club.

Nigel Pearson has instigated us becoming a club that can actually win promotion then further trophies.

It's sad but I got a warm "Family" feeling when I saw it.

Posted

I can see Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Brom trying to temp him next season. Tottenham, Everton and an outside chance of Man Utd might also come in.

Would he go if those clubs came in for him. Tie him down for 5 years with a big get out clause saying that he cannot walk into another club for 6 months unless the other club pay a 10 million fee back to LCFC.

I love Pearson meself, the sad thing is when folk say stand by him even if we get relegated,

I hate to say it but there's to many getting on the Pearson bandwagon now he's being successfull,

Most of you would be calling for his head this time next year if were bottom if the league,

It's not my intention to put a downer on things but some of the hypocrital arse licking of Pearson on here from folk who slagged him off drives me mad,

For the record I'm a massive Pearson fan and have NEVER called for his head,I'm sure I've provoked a reaction here but one that is justified?
