RobHawk Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Pearson has been in Thailand this week. Maybe nothing but could be contract talks!
jimmer Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Nothing would surprise me with our owners. Buying the club they let NP walk to get big name sousa in. That failed so they bring in big sven that failed so bring in NP to sort a mess out. Once up and where they want to be they may feel NP will not attract the sort of players they want. Exit NP at no cost Bring in big name 11 players most not good enough for the prem on high wages let go to clear the wage bill. New man has large budget to buy and a large wage budget. Not something I want but would not be shocked if it happened. If you make a mistake....do you not learn from it? I would say the Thais being successful business men, have got a pretty good grasp of it now! + they have surrounded themselves with good experience in the board room. NP is going nowhere, it'd be suicide.

Thracian Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Having long ago referred to Pearson being a manager still learning his trade, what's impressed me most about the guy is that he has evolved to become better at his job and that's the biggest reason I believe he'll cope and eventually become a success in the Premiership. Pearson's got the strength and intelligence to adapt and it's been so heartening to see him emerge as a manager with far more attacking intent than I'd have ever believed a few seasons back. Unfortunately, his future is not just down to Leicester City. They will surely offer him a lucrative new contract whether he wins promotion or not but will Pearson want to stick or twist? My hope is that he'll stay and go even further than MoN and establish City as a truly formidable club with strong foundations and a style of play that makes the fans proud to watch. But there'll be a lot of potential alternatives out there and the owners will need to keep a plan B in mind. .

I'm sure there will be - but I can't imagine any of them being more attractive than taking the squad of his own players he has built over 2 years, freshly promoted, with bags of cash to spend and have a proper crack at the Premier League with the backing of board and fans alike. I just don't see much better a job than that?

LanguedocFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Pearson has been in Thailand this week. Maybe nothing but could be contract talks! I hope it is to sign the deal. Pearson said in his Daily Telegraph interview earlier this year that he rarely sees the owners - only when there is something important to talk about. I'm very confident that they will want to anchor him to the club because of what he has achieved: even in the unlikely (for me, anyway) event of us going up and coming straight back down again.

foxfanazer Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Would be criminal to not give the man a chance. He's grown so much as a manager in the last year or two and for me he has all the attributes to give us a good chance of survival in the prem. He has already assembled a group of players that will givr their all for him and the squad harmony is as good as it can be. I know Football is cruel sometimes and that if we started the season poorly then he'd more than likely be gone but I'd much prefer us to stick to a stable, long term plan. The real test for NP imo will be the summer transfer window. Will he be able to attract a couple of hihh calibre players to the club?
Happy Fox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Deserves a new contract not just for our promotion push which was the goal but for his attacking football philosophy he clearly learnt from mistakes last season, which will stand us in good stead in the prem, and that is the key.

Fox92 Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I'd be very surprised if he isn't offered a new deal. And it would be harsh if he was let go. The job he has done here is terrific, on and off the field (that part which people seem to forget). A good young squad, an attacking and freeflowing philosophy while, this year, dominating the League.
An Away Move Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I'd like to think our owners have learned a thing or two about instability and stability over the last few seasons. I'd like to see the club stick with the manager and most of the squad for next season, adding a touch of quality here and there. Wholesale change will be disastrous and demotivating IMO.
berniethebolt Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I actually think NP will be kept either way, its all about the size of the contract in both years and cash that he will be offered. He has built the foundations of a young exciting squad and the owners will not want to risk a new manager who will invariably dismantle it and start again (they always do). I'm sure NP knows this as well and is happy not to start negotiations. He will be in a very strong position should we get promoted.

Jace Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I think Pearson would be a better manager for a struggling Premiership team than he would a Championship team looking to win the league. He's suited to being the underdog looking for organisation and scrapping a result rather than a top attacking team IMO. I think he will be the best choice to continue with next season.

ARM1968 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Of course he'll be retained. Secure us mid table and then be snapped up by a team slightly more glamorous. Then the saga will begin again.
MPH Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Of course he'll be retained. Secure us mid table and then be snapped up by a team slightly more glamorous. Then the saga will begin again.I see the thais as pretty smart business men.. I'd imagine any new contract will be watertight and heavily stacked in our favor. .They'll make it hugely expensive for any admirers to 'poach ' him.
ARM1968 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Poach him yes. But he can still walk out, resign etc. football is fickle and water tight contracts spring leaks relatively easily. As I say. I think he'll be retained, do well and then do one. It's the way it goes.
