Jimothy Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Newcastle sent Alan Shearer packing as a youngster then had to stump up £15m for him years later. Shit happens.

Postiej40 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 I spoke to billy the very day that Nigel Pearson let him go!! The lad was gutted. he loved it at Leicester and was hoping to get a look in,but for what ever reason Pearson didn't rate him!! He's banging the goals in for fun in Scotland for Inverness and he's playing week in week out. Why would he want to come back here after the way Pearson treated him? Makes no sense to let a player go for free but then resign him for £1million!!!

LCCFox96 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Young players develop. It's not like he was of top SPL striker standard when we released. If Hooper was worth 5 then 1mil is a fair enough price for this guy. Good finisher too. Also if he were to return to leicester to have a second bite at the cherry under the same manager who released him I think it says a lot about his attitude and work ethic.
sylofox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 If true big up for NP. He's admitting he got it wrong most would not.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 We let him go for nothing.. His current club want £1m for him. why does it always rain on me?
Brainy Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 They're not going to get that much for him anyway lets be honest
Jobyfox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 If you discount Celtic what sort of standard is the SPL? Doesn't necessarily follow that he'd score goals for a top Championship club.
Postiej40 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Why doesn't it? Happens a lot in football. Indeed it does but it surely isn't good business to let something go for nothing only to pay £1million a couple of years later!! It's like being down £1million. He may well be interested in coming back seeing as we are Doing well at the moment. I suppose it would depend on if he gets guaranteed first team football. I'd sooner have billy than Kevin Philips tbh
TJB-fox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Watched him versus Celtic other week, Inverness were like a fish out of water (including McKay). The lad had a few half chances but never really looked dangerous, and struggled to hold the ball up. Personally not a fan, rather we went for a another youngster with potential, jed wallace/stevie may/dylan mcgeouch etc.
Grewks Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Also... Ever thought we may have put a clause in there saying we could buy him back for X amount? Might be why we are 'interested'.
lcfcsnow Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Also... Ever thought we may have put a clause in there saying we could buy him back for X amount? Might be why we are 'interested'. He joined them from Northampton.
Grewks Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 He joined them from Northampton. Could still be a clause.....
