Surely you're joking. He's an absolute embarrassment of an international defender. He's consistently terrible and he's pulled off miracles to trick managers into picking him time and again. Baines won't start. Cole is much better. Fixed that for you. Well if we're planning on an early exit we may as well start Cole. I was under the impression we were actually trying to win matches and progress, but hey ho!

He's not the best right back we've ever had by a long way, but he's not an embarrassment. As for Cole v Baines. As much as Cole has been an excellent England player, I'm not really up for taking someone who's barely playing getting any game time at club level because he's being kept out by a second rate right back. I know he has nothing to prove, but he has to start getting games or he can't be taken to the World Cup in merit.

We haven't got a world class centre back in the entire country. Baines at LB is the only saving grace. What nations have world class centre backs?
