Captain... Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 I go to all home games and 75% of away. No real problem with Wasilewski, although I do think he's a walking red card and also think he dives in too easily and gets too close to the player he's marking. Maybe I'm wrong. But they're my opinions. Why do you think he is a walking red card? He has featured in 18 matches, started 13 of them, he has been booked twice! Yes 2 bookings, for a walking red card that is pretty poor. In his entire career, he has been sent off 4 times, and only once was a straight red, the rest were 2 yellows. That is the same as Wes (2 second yellows and 2 straight reds). Wasyl might be an aggressive player, but he is also very experienced so knows how to use his aggression within the laws of the game, he doesn't have a shocking disciplinary record, it is actually quite tame, and I think it is based on a couple of wild lunges that people think he is a walking red card, did we ever think that about Walshy (13 reds), Taggart or Elliott.
Captain... Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Squads pretty big isn't it, we're dropping at least two senior players each week, we've got enough to field two XI's and players out on loan we can recall. Liam's injured and we've got two people who can come in a do a job for a couple of weeks Don't forget our Academy, must be a couple of them that would be able to provide cover from the bench, it was how Moore got his break. Is Taft a CB, Sesay, Pearson Jr? Konchesky can also play Centre Back and we can use Schlupp at LB. So we have Wasyl, Miquel, SSL, Konchesky and Whitbread if we recall his loan, and the Academy to cover Liam Moore for a month, I think we'll be OK, but then if Shakey scouts an awesome young Danish CB that wouldn't look out of place in the Prem, then I wouldn't mind us signing him, but a loan for a month with the amount of cover we have is a waste of money. If we get another injury, then we can think about an emergency loan, as that is why they are there, not to help you get promotion on the cheap (Watford I'm looking at you).

He was very lucky not to be sent off against Huddersfield. I'd have sent him off!
ADK Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Can't agree with saying Keane is better than Was. I think Was has superior positioning and physical strength as well as more experience. I think possibly Keane is more agile and better with the football (not by much). I don't agree with Was being a liability, I think it's overhyped. He's not had too many reds in his career despite the fact he enjoys the physical side of the game. Liam Moore also enjoys the physical side of the game but doesn't get labelled a thug. I felt Keane was one of the weak links last season. I felt he was partially at fault for most of the Watford goals in the play offs.

A worldy from Vydra, and a Kasper rush of blood to the head were the Watford goals.
LCCFox96 Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Two away games coming up. Wasilewski is just the ticket for that in these championship fixtures. He'll rough them up and do just as solid a job as Liam Moore would do. While I do think we will miss Moore and it is a shame he is out for three weeks and we are forced to break up a winning team Wasilewski is hardly shabby cover. Tonnes of experience, international level, takes no prisoners and a model pro. He did well coming into a tight game with difficult conditions on Saturday as well. In a way Moore's injury does also shit on any potentially move Fulham or anyone else had lined up for him. At least we don't have to deal with waste of time negotiations now. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery though.
GiantDave Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 We have a squad of what, 20? I don't think that's enough. You have to consider injuries (we've been lucky so far), suspensions (same) loss of form (same). I thought we were a little short even before Moore was injured. I think Pearson will bring another couple in before Friday. Who will we bring in of any quality who will be happy to be in the reserves when Moore is back? We can only take so many players to each game and we need attacking options to change the game on the bench, not load up on defenders.
Walshy5 Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 With De Laet being injury prone id definitely look at bringing in some temporary cover.
Munshi Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Moore out for 3 weeks then, Wasilewski can go straight in however he does seem a bit dodgy to me.
Unabomber Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Moore out for 3 weeks then, Wasilewski can go straight in however he does seem a bit dodgy to me. Why does he? He has been fine at CB.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 That's the job for Pearson to sort. Confident he will I agree. Leave it to the manager, as that's one of the things he is paid for.
HoustonFox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Why are people so desperate to bring someone in? Was has been good, Miquel is coming back and Liam is out for 3-4 weeks. I think bringing someone in now doesn't show faith in the current squad and could erode team spirit that Nigel has been working so hard on building up.
Munshi Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Why does he? He has been fine at CB. I agree he has been good for us, its just a few times his decision making is a bit 'rash' to say the least.
MPH Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 You should go to Specsavers. Yes, Keane was top class for Derby against us wasn't he. To be fair, he didn't stand a chance. A decent team falling apart around him against a rampant leicester. There are not many players who would of looked good against us in that game. But that doesn't make derby a bad team. We were on our game and they were not. It happens.

Dickov22 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 A bid for Jack Hobbs. Looks as though I was on the right lines when I suggested we are short of defenders
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 A bid for Jack Hobbs. Looks as though I was on the right lines when I suggested we are short of defenders We have always been light in this area and better cover will always be welcome and Hobbs is not a bad call
Fox in the North Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I think if we sign Hobbs, we should make him the last one for the season as anyone more could upset the balance of the squad.
Father Ted Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Now for him to (deservedly) go ahead of Michael Keane in the pecking order!
Cincinnati Fox Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Who is this moo that sky tell me is in the u21 squad England Under-21 squad: Bond (Watford), Butland (Leeds), Johnstone (Doncaster), Jenkinson (Arsenal), Fryers (Tottenham), Keane (Man Utd), Lascelles (Nottm Forest), Moo (Leicester), Robinson (Blackpool), Stones (Everton), Carroll (QPR), Chalobah (Middlesbrough), Hughes (Derby), Morrison (QPR), Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Ince (Crystal Palace), Lingard (Brighton), Redmond (Norwich), Zaha (Cardiff).

Langston Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Probably posted elsewhere but here's a reasonably well informed little piece about our Liam from the chaps at Squawka:http://www.squawka.com/news/2014/02/23/wins-more-headers-than-why-this/2014022373184
